Whenever I'm bored while in the suburbs, I head to my favorite pet store - Today's Pet. This is one of the most interactive pet stores in the area, with play pens for you to use to play with puppies and kittens before deciding which pet is the perfect one for you and your family. It always brings a smile to my face to see the excited faces of children and their families when playing with potential puppies. These moments fill me with puppy fever and wish that I was able to afford buying a puppy of my own (both money and time wise), especially given the steep prices of these cuddly pets. Until then, I am thankful that Today's Pet provides me with the opportunity to try out different breeds of puppies so that I can decide which puppy characteristics are most important to me, so that I can be prepared to adopt as soon as I am more ready for a pet of my own. In addition to puppies, the store also stocks kittens, birds (including parrots), mice, guinea pigs, ferrets, bunnies, fish, and more. The store also has a lot of pet supplies as well in addition to the live creatures. The customer service is excellent! There is a high likelihood that they remember me as the returning customer who doesn't buy anything each time she visits, but rather only puppy window shop. However, I never felt negatively judged by the workers there. Also, one of the workers overheard me wondering about the different characteristics of the different puppy breeds, and promptly brought over a book on puppies for me to peruse. I am quite impressed with the attention provided to their customers!
Me and my fiancé purchased a dachshund here about a month ago. The customer service was great from the floor employees, the manager was little rude but that didn't bother me. They say to take your puppy to a vet within 14 days to verify the warranty, they offer a free vet but I passed on that because how good can a free vet be? I took him to the best vet in the area, of course it's going to cost more but if you're spending over $1000 on a dog what's a little more to make sure he's in good health. I honestly wish I could have adopted a pet and we look around any shelter within a 100 mile radius and there weren't any dogs in the size we needed for our home so we have no option but to buy a dog, and when we met him we fell in love. And if you buy from this place don't use the free vet people, invest in your dogs health! The place isn't that bad but I do feel bad for them being in small cages all day, plus side is the puppies are well socialized and our little guy loves people!
Called on my way home from a road trip to see if we can pop in and take a look at their Yorkies available. Dealt with Crystal. She was amazing. The store is cute; fish, bunnies, toys, it's just adorable. We walked in, asked for Crystal, she got the puppy we were interested in and then we were escorted to a private room where we got to play with the puppy. All of this was followed by Crystal's expansive knowledge that she was willing to share, on the breed, the store, her experience and such. We got to see Crystal interact with that particular dog as well others and she was VERY loving and caring as were all of the handlers. It was a great experience. We did not purchase a dog, as we realized it was not the right time but we would not hesitate to go back and deal with Crystal and this store. They care about their animals and they are so knowledgeable.
This is like Wegman's for cats - no seriously! Tonight my cat dined on a liver, turkey stew - tomorrow, it might be chicken soup with pumpkin. I've never seen anything like this before. A long isle, dedicated for our finicky kitties, not to mention treats galore and cat toys. We originally came to Today's Pet, because our kitty - Shadow Bandit Bullet (SBB) was doing a fair amount of puking up her food, so the vet agreed that we purchase something for sensitive tummies. We ended up purchasing a product called Fussie Cat, no kidding - containing all the food groups (fruit, veg & meat), with a limited number of ingredients and grain free. If you want to know how she does on the food, feel free to message me. Oh and the lady behind the register was super helpful and friendly. She even placed ample samples of foods for SBB to try, as well.
If you go here for non-dog stuff, they are great. Sure, I will never buy a dog from there ever, but they have the cheapest, widest selection of frozen mice ANYWHERE for my snake. I can get a dozen hoppers (8-10 months' worth of food) for like $24. They have all the reptile accessories I could ask for, like heating pads, lamps, substrate, accessories, thermometers, etc, and they tend to be cheaper than other pet stores. The staff is very knowledgeable. Basically every time I go, I work with them to figure out what size food my snake should be eating. They've never let me down! Today's Pet is an awesome place to go for your exotic pet needs.
While I can't even look in the same direction as the dogs when I come in here (I just want to take all of them home), I like this pet store. I just recently bought a hedgehog from them and had a great experience with the staff there, and this was even well past closing. They have everything you could ever need in this place if you own any type of pet. Every time I've been here I've received great service and the staff has always been attentive (and yup, I'm a minority, Derek L. With dreadlocks). So if you are looking for a hedgehog or a huge bunny rabbit or any other sort of animal, check them out
