We were regulars here b/c my son craved it - would stop by 1-2x/wk to get him 1 slice off their pizza-by-the-slice rounder warmer. My husband took him there one Saturday and the slices they got were old and cold, so he asked when they were going to make a fresh one and he would wait for that. The girl who was running the place that day, wearing an ECC sweatshirt, just looked at him with a snotty attitude and appeared very put-off, didn't apologize for giving them crappy product and huffed her way through ordering a new pizza from the back. They waited over 30 minutes for 2 slices of pizza. Again - she never once apologized. For my husband, there was no turning back once he promised my son he could have his favorite pizza, but he felt strongly that miss sweety-pants was punishing him for getting her up out of her chair to order a fresh and not old-n-cold pizza. Battle on.He stopped going there for several months and my son was turned off for good. Hubby told us to never go there again - it was out of the way anyway, so I was happy not to. We started getting Pizza Hut near our house for my son's pizza cravings and he likes that better now. Hubby started going back to White Cottage b/c he now says they are the best - hahahaha. But, if he sees that girl in there, he just turns around and walks away b/c he can't be sure of the quality when she is working. The boy and I don't care to go back, so at least 2 customers lost. Reminds me of the German Bread Basket I loved to go to in Atlanta-Stone Mountain - I always said the atmosphere is cozy, the food is mediocre and the service stinks - but it was one of my favorite places. For my husband, White Cottage Pizza's atmosphere is cold, the service sucks and the pizza is the best.Lesson learned: Beware who you hire. Your people are your brand.
If you are thinking about going to Danny's, think again and go anywhere else. You will get bad food, poor service and cocky angry unapologetic management. The ambiance is very open and cold with one ancient projection TV screen and a few tiny flat screens around the outside walls that are hard to see from the main floor. You will also get carded even if you are obviously over 40 with no common sense used. However you should go if you like to be treated like a child and enjoy management that doesn't care if you come back.We had a group with 5 adults and 2 tweens and 2 small children. It took almost 10 minutes to for a server to ask if we wanted to order in an empty place. When we ordered a pitcher of beer, we were all asked for ID's. All the adults are over 40 including my mother-in-law who is a senior citizen. All the adults had ID's except my mother-in-law and they refused to serve an obvious senior citizen. The manager came out and said it was the law to card and would not make an exception. To add insult to injury the manager was rude and stern and said he did not care if we left. If it is the law to card when people are obviously over the age of 40, there are a lot businesses breaking the law. He did not give a damn about serving the customer, making an easy management decision nor did he care about future business. Yes, it is their right to refuse anyone that cannot produce an ID, but there should be some common sense used in obvious over age 21 situations like a senior citizen. The manager said this is how they stay in business for 50 plus years which is laughable. Service businesses stay in business by providing great products and top notch service which Danny's does neither.I would have left but we had young children and were in a hurry to eat and ordered. Bad decision. We had the Appetizer Baskets that are fried food samplers. They were not fried properly so the breading was not crisp but soggy and greasy. When a restaurant cannot produce a quality fried appetizer that is a bad omen for the quality of their entire menu. We also ordered a large thin crust and large deep dish. The thin crust has no flavor, very little sauce and a soggy crust. I didn't try the stuffed so I will be fair and not give it a thumbs up or down. Lastly, you will be charged an automatic gratuity so the servers have no incentive for good service.
