Went there for Mother's Day and was not impressed at all. Many of us ordered the "Mother's Day Special" which; upon subsequent re-reading of the menu, was not a "special" at all. This meal consisted of a CB's version of a Steak Oscar, choice of side, and salad bar. CB's version substituted the classic tenderloin with a rib eye. Ordered my steak "medium" and it arrived rare - and it was tough. This was not what I expected of a steak house at the price. The crab was tasteless and minimal. The asparagus was grossly undercooked and appeared to be simply blanched. It crunched like a celery stalk! The "béarnaise" (ahem) had not even the slightest hint of wine nor tarragon. If it were not for the salad bar, which is exceptional and fresh, I would have rated the food 1 star. I give it 2 stars because of the salad bar ONLY. The place was packed. Slow service was expected, but it was not terribly slow considering every table was full and MANY people waited outside for seating. The wait staff was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I can easily rate the wait staff at 4-5 stars. Should I ever go to this CB location again, I think the soup/salad bar would be my best option. I'd like to rate higher because of the wait staff, but simply can't because of the low quality of the food.

So, I went here for my first ever salon kind of service. I'm a dude and was nervous and did not know what the Hell I was doing. The staff were so welcoming and friendly...all of them. I tried to get a wax once from one of those Asian places and that was a huge mistake. The Korean's yelled across the place and I was so embarrassed. Guys, you will not experience that at Gentlemen's Republic. It's a classy joint. Their services have more appropriate masculine names that I like too. A pedicure is called a foot detail, manicure is called a hand detail. I got both of those and something done on my face. You can change the channel on the TV, they have an x-box you can play and they offer you alcoholic drinks of your choice at no charge. It's pretty awesome. Very non-judgmental and chill staff. They are pretty crafty on their up-sell so make sure you tell them if you want something or not. The staff have an artsy look which adds to the cool vibe of the place. The owner is a pretty amazing woman too. When I went, they accepted cash only because their credit card machine was down...that sucked but it was just a hiccup in the system. The building is located in the historic area of downtown and it is pretty cool. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and will be going back
I used to work on the RIVERWALK in SAN ANTONIO for various LANDRY'S sister restaurants including SALT GRASS and JOE'S CRABSHACK a few months ago. Sad to say, this is the worse franchised I've worked for. Very disappointing for a restaurant of their caliber and LANDRY'S being my favorite restaurant of all time. It took the management 3 weeks to give me credit for my training hours, because their was no way for them to put me in the system. The GM didn't know how to get me transferred from SAN ANTONIO to El Paso. So, I had to get hold of the GM in SAN ANTONIO and get MYSELF transferred. Then I had to wait 2 extra weeks (1 month and 1 week) just to get my 1st paycheck from training. I was making money on the floor before my 1st check. I even waited and worked with them so they could give me all the hours I worked for on my 2nd check, because if not, they would get in trouble...I can't wait until I'm back in SAN ANTONIO...They need to work on "People Skills" in El Paso...They would not make it in SAN ANTONIO at all....REALLY, CORPORATE NEEDS TO COME DOWN TO EL PASO AND REGULATE THE WHOLE CITY...
You may not want to go here if it's after 9 p.m. and you want to eat. I arrived to an empty hostess station so I decided to seat at the bar. No bartender to be found for 5 minutes. When she appeared, the bartender was nice and prompt, at first. I ordered a 6 oz. Sirloin with mash potatoes and steamed broccoli. I received my food with microwaved and burnt broccoli as well as severely dry mash potatoes... Oh yeah, my steak was over cooked and tasteless. I asked for the broccoli to be replaced by corn on the cob, which was a lot better. When I got the check, the bartender didn't provide me with a pen to sign the tab and again, disappeared for another 5 minutes. I have to say this was the worst service at a restaurant I've gotten in a very long time. Will NOT be back here. Don't come here if you want good gold and good service.

Being in the military and moving around it is hard to find a good barber, let alone a place that can cater to a man's up-keep. I found this place by searching the Internet and let me tell you it was worth the wait. This place is the epitome of man spa. The owner has done an excellent job of setting the atmosphere and providing all the right services to keep people coming back. From the moment I arrived I received the best massage I've ever had. Renee' really took care of me. Then I was treated to a foot detail that was right on point. And finally, my haircut and shave were something that resemble the 1920s. It was nostalgic, refreshing, and relaxing. If you are not making this place a routine stop to pamper yourself, you are missing out. If I could have given this place 10-stars, I would have.
My husband and I passed by here several times and seen they had a full parking lot, we figured it must be good lets try it! Omg we were right on! The atmosphere was nice, the staff friendly and efficient, the food was awesome!! My husband and I had the fillet, they were cooked perfectly!! My daughter (3) had the kids chicken strips.. They were awesome too! No pre frozen chicken, they were hand battered and fried on site! The salad bar is amazing! Soups, puddings, salad fixings, and ever pasta salad ever.. And we had the potato skins for an appetizer they were also fresh! And delicious!! I was very impressed! Then the bill came, all this food (delicious food) for 70 bucks!! 2 8 oz fillets!! You cannot beat this place!!! And of course the hubby had a couple beers :)

My wife set up a Signature Package at this place, and I have to admit that at first I was embarrassed because my friends were all ribbing me calling me a metrosexual and such. Well call me whatever you want, because this guy is the new mayor of this awesome place. The professionalism of all the service providers was really above par. I got a massage that left me speechless, a fricking awesome foot detail that took away all of callouses, a hot later shave that knocked me out, and a cool haircut AND they even fed me!! All they are missing is the hammock in the back patio. My wife had to drag me out of there.I think she is jealous now, because she has never come home from a spa day like I did. Thanks Babe I know you really love me cuz I am doing it again next month!

My neighbor told me about GR over a year ago now because of their hot lather shaves and complimentary drinks... I went once and I haven't been any where else since! Phenomenal customer service, knowledgeable staff who are very skilled and take pride in what they do, very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, and best of all, even though it says "salon" in the name it isn't your normal salon. Caters to both men and women and is basically a one stop shop for all of your grooming needs. Arlene has got to be one of the best stylists in town and Laura, the owner is super nice. Very Highly Recommend Gentleman's Republic regardless of what you need. They have you covered.
