AMG Specialty Hospital - Edmond
For Mercy facility. However I wouldn't trust the Edmond facility either. I have to rate as one star so I can post my review. Our rating is a true 0 star. Horrible! Lacking caring and compassionate staff. So many terrible incidents. Pending legal action against the "hospital". They weren't giving our loved one her antibiotics for a UTI. They weren't able to provide emergency transportation to back OU until several hours later (which would be 3am). I called EMSA and they were there within 10 minutes. Not treating the UTI landed our loved one back into the hospital for over week. During that time her infection got so bad she had to be put in constraints because she was going insane. When I called AMG to ask them to have Mercy send the latest test results to OU because time was not on our side, the older, red headed female receptionist hung up on me. During the inpatient care, a nurse and respiratory therapist thought it would be a good idea to start steroids, which conflicts with wound care. Not a smart move at all for someone healing from a hole in their stomach. The first night the nurse wouldn't help us get our loved one back into bed from the chair. She just stood their even after we asked for help. No physical therapy was done, no anti-blood clot leg cuffs were given (until 3 days after we kept asking and asking for them), and response time was on average of 30 minutes. Unacceptable treatment for a patient who was on a ventilator to receive. I talked to the CEO. I waas very calm and nice during the phone call. He didn't say much and no follow up from him after he said they had a meeting regarding the issues. This was only a 5 day stay. Please do not send your loved one to this facility. So sad and hard to accept that AMG has such cruel and uncaring people in the medical field.

This place sucks in patient care, don't send your family to this place, they run out of pain meds??? And if you use the nurse call button no one answers, if they do show up, they disappear and never return with what you need...i suggest you call an atty. If you are having the same problems as we are...i smell a lawsuit!

I was very pleased with the care when at the ER this past weekend. The staff was very considerate and caring. The nurse and doctor were thorough with the tests run and with the explanations of the results. The facility was clean. I'm grateful for the treatment received. A++

If I could give the hospital a negative 5 stars, that is what I would do. In August, my wife started having severe chest pains and she is not one to complain or run to a hospital for anything. When she told me that she wanted to go to the emergency room, I knew this was serious. We tried this hospital because it was closest and Integris has a good reputation, so we thought. We walked into the emergency room and everything went fine until we got her back in the room. The nurse came in and they got her setup for all sorts of tests, put several patches to connect for her EKG to see what was going on. Once the EKG checked out they ran a few other tests. Keep in mind my wife is crying the whole time because she is in so much pain. They gave her pain meds for that which didn't really help her. The doctor came in and she looked her over and basically told her that we didn't find anything so if you have any more pain take some Tylenol. Seriously! No here is what you should do if this occurs again. Then she said you may want to follow up with your PCP. Hello, this is Memorial Day weekend on a Friday and the soonest she could see a PCP is in 4 days. Then the young lady that collects for payment comes into the room and tells me what my bill is and proceeds to take my credit card while my wife is still in the bed. She was the friendliest of everyone and she overcharged me by $75 so now I have to fight them to get a refund. Lastly, all the adhesive leads for the EKG were left on my wife and I had to remove them myself before we left. We will never and I mean NEVER to this hospital and I will NEVER refer anyone to this place.

DON'T GO THERE! As I had to go to the ER this last Fri night I was hopeful that since this was new it would be a very good experience. NOT! I was clearly interrupting the receptionist from reading (no one was in the waiting room) the attending nurse was at best not very pleasant - downright rude! And since I was the only patient they were all sitting around laughing, joking etc. I was an incovenience to them! I will not go back.

Tips & Advices
Academic medical centers provide the widest range of specialty care treatments, including the latest technological advances, clinical trials, and surgical techniques. In general, an academic medical center is a better choice than a community hospital for complicated treatments or rare diseases. Pediatric intensive care, especially, is usually performed at academic medical centers.
Academic medical centers offer a broad range of specialized services, from allergists to urologists. Some of the larger medical centers have entire hospitals or clinics focused on a particular medical service, such as cancer treatment, though specialties vary among the centers. Patients whose community hospital or local doctors do not have the facilities or expertise to address complex medical conditions can be referred by their primary care physician or local specialist to a major medical center (there are more than a dozen in the United States).
Yes. In addition to their inpatient hospital services, medical centers can offer a wide variety of outpatient services, such as pain clinics, rehabilitation centers, surgery, imaging and laboratory, mental health treatment, and outpatient cancer treatment. Medical groups – doctors in private practice but affiliated with the medical center--will also have offices within the medical center.
Physicians, nurses, physician’s assistants, residents, and attending physicians makeup the clinical staff of an academic medical center.
Medical center accreditation is not required, but most centers work voluntarily toward accreditation because it represents higher standards of healthcare quality and patient safety.
