This is the restaurant that started my love affair with Indian food. Everything at Sitar is phenomenal. I've eaten at one or two places since that may have been as good (or perhaps even better), but definitely none in Durham. All the usual favorite dishes are fantastic. And they (at least used to) serve at the Duke student union, so I ate there at least three times a week, and it never got old.

The food here is insanely tasty each and every time...I've gotten the seafood platter a couple times this month and each time it is to die for...The fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Have had the swordfish and the Striped bass. Don't remember the last time I've had seafood this well prepared! Not to mention, the service is great... The menu changes seasonally as it is based on what's available locally but if you get a chance this month, try the seafood platter...Delicious!

These folks are good! Especially Tommy Bullock, the owner/manager. I recently made a special order by phone from the Richmond area. First, my call was personally returned within 24 hours by Tommy. I explained I would be in Durham, NC for only a few hours and wanted my order ready by 5 PM. Even though the order was a special order and not on the menu, it was waiting for me when I arrived. The place was packed with customers! It was a Friday, yet my order was executed perfectly. Thanks again Tommy for a job well done!

Satisfaction is by far one of my favorite places to go. I don't even live in Durham, but I choose to travel there because I love this place so much. The staff is super friendly and outgoing. I've never been there and not received excellent customer service. I've tried many of their menu items and have yet to find one that I dislike. The pizza is like none other and the chicken wrap is abolutely heaven. During the day and late evening it seems to be a good place for family and groups, while in the late pm it has quite the nightlife. My friends and I thoroughly enjoy karaoke, even if the occassional person sings Hannah Montana! What makes for a better girls night out than good food, strong drinks, and karaoke? \r \r

My experience at Spartacus is during the day and it is a great place to enjoy great Greek food. The buffet, available everyday, offers a real variety of traditional Greek food including Greek Salads, Falafel, Olives, Grilled Portobello Mushrooms, chicken parmesian, spinach spanakopita, tzadziki, and a bunch of great tasting stuff that I have no idea what it is called. \r \r The bottom line is the buffet is a GREAT deal, I think I usually get out for $10 or so and I always get way more than my money's worth. But even more important than that is that the buffet gives you a chance to try different Greek specialties that you might not otherwise choose to try. Greek food is great anyway. I'm no expert in Greek cuisine, but Spartacus really is a great restaurant to me. I highly recommend it!

Third time was the charm-The first two times we tried to go, the restaurant was closed, but we finally got it right. We went on a Monday or Tuesday night and there was a short wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The drinks were tasty and potent. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back.

I love Devines. we go there a lot. If they really like you they will invite you to their secret holiday party. You can watch all the NFL games here and drink for very cheaply. The best deal used to be the Miller Lite Tallboy cans, served with a frosty glass. I think they raised the price recently though. and I haven't done a cents per ounce analysis lately. whatever. They also have some fancier beers on tap, if that's the way you swing. The food is good, there is always a sandwich/soup special. There is no place I'd rather go to drink (and watch sports) anywhere in the entire world.

In a word delicious. The Paella bowl was so full, I could bare eat it all. My wife and I were passing thru Durham late, heading home from a Thanksgiving celebration in WInston-Salem. Durham seemed like a good place to stop for dinner. We visited the Info Bureau on 15 and started looking around. We found the Blue Corn Cafe quite by accident and had a wonderful time. The Saturday nite special was the Paella. I'd certainly have it again, although the menu looked quite good and I might try something else.\r \r Our waitress; and I kick myself for not catching her name, was excellant. More than helpful and attentive; genuinely interested in the cafe and the goings-on in the area. She said she'd worked there for 10+ years from when there was a bookstore next-door. SHe was of medium height, slim with short dark hair; try to get one of her tables. Diffently 2 thumbs up to both the restaurant and to our waitress.\r \r I read the first 15 or so reviews, I found the older ""problem"" ones to be just that---older. Maybe there was something a year ago; but this past Saturday nite was excellant. Good enough for me to seek out he site and I'm from Maryand. \r \r

I have eaten at 15 or more Brazilian Steathouses all over the country this by a nose is the best I've had. The only thing better than the meat and app bar was the pristine and polished service. I could almost think the fact I needed a new plate and there was one in front of me. The place itself was gorgeous, and parking was easy to find. we finished it off with Gelato from the business next door which only added to a perfect evening.

I love the food here! I use to live pretty close to the Q-Shack and have tried *everything* on the menu except the hamburger. (Why would I want to get a hamburger will all the different BBQ on that menu!?!) Now that I've moved to a different part of Durham, I still go back frequently. They have great pulled pork, brisket, and smoked turkey. When I'm looking for a healthier meal I'll get the cobb salad (which includes brisket and turkey). The Q-Shack staff is very friendly and the prices are great. Don't miss this restaurant!

Excellent food, excellent service! This is a ""Mom and Pop"" operation--Pop is the chef and Mom provides warm, friendly, and prompt service. The food is delicious, obviously prepared with great care and creativity. I am on a special diet, and most of the menu items included ingredients prohibited on my diet. I explained my needs and the chef created a special dish--absolutely delicious!--that fit perfectly into my dietary requirements. I have gone several times with family and friends who order from the menu and each of them has been enthusiastic about the food. For the quality of food and service, we find the prices quite reasonable. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant! Try it and you'll see! It's near the post office on Shannon St.--easy to miss but well worth the trip.

Outstanding waitress, excellent food at a fair price. We dined on a Monday evening and it was lightly occupied so our server didn't have many tables to handle. The rosemary grilled chicken was outstanding. My wife had the orzo/seafood/spinach dish and it was extremely good with generous portions., The only problem was we were too full to try the desserts.

I was in the Durham area this weekend and mosied into The Federal solely based on the Yelp attention this joint has received. The reviews were dead on – delicious, beautiful food disguised within a dark, vintage dive bar. In retrospect, neither I nor my lunch mate had any complaints about our lunch – everything was perfect. As directed, we started lunch with an order of “Fed fries” – cut potatoes tossed in an oil/garlic/parsley mixture – good balance, the herbs were not overpowering and we easily polished off the entire basket. \r \r My lunch mate and I split the chicken sandwich & grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken was so tasty! – The Federal can really work with herbs. They don’t monopolize the entree, but subtly highlight flavors in the food. I didn’t ask for any accessory sauce – which is usually the cause w/chicken, so truly tasty marinade. The grilled cheese was introduced as the menu favorite by the waitress – if I was still vegetarian I would have been turning cartwheels, but the chicken sandwich was undeniably superior. Both sandwiches were grilled like paninis (my fav) and were generously garnished with tomatoes, avocado and spring greens. The side mixed green salad was selected as our sides, since we carbed up earlier. Beautiful greens – there’s always something elegant about mixed baby greens with balsamic dressing – a bit out of place considering The Fed’s motif, but delicious none the less. \r \r The Fed featured several beers on its chalkboard, and by the traffic in&out to its barstools — its a decent little bar for a drink(s).\r \r Overall: Raleigh > Durham… but The Federal definitely has it going on… stop in.

There were so many things on the menu that looked great that I had a hard time choosing my lunch dish. I finally settled on the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with the chipolte ranch dressing. It was great! The salad I chose for my side was very fresh and tasty as well. \r \r The waitress was pleasant and attentive without hovering or becoming impatient when it took us a while to order.\r \r Give this restaurant a try for a nice casual lunch!

Husband and I went to T K Tripps on Club Blvd., in Durham friday evening 11/13. Both of us ordered the Filet Mignon done medium. Our server was a very personable and capable young lady named China. Our steaks were the absolute best either of us has EVER had and that includes at Ruth's Chris! Mouth watering, VERY moist and extremely tender. Whoever the chef was, he or she certainly knew what they were doing and did it extremely well!! Have never had a bad dinner at Tripps but this was absolutely over the top!!

I never write reviews but after reading the one review that I saw up here about my ONLY favorite restaurant in Durham I just had to say something. I have never been treated unruly in this establishment by anyone everyone went above and beyond. yes the wait may be long even for one person because I went by myself but its worth all the wait. the restaurant is loupe because if its food and I never mind the wait because there is a coffee cafe that I go to and pick up while IM waiting to be seated at Dame's. In short the food is really worth all the wait.

These guys have a fun deli-counter-in-a-quirky-country-store restaurant concept in a gorgeous space with a big outdoor deck and a great atmosphere. But, my experience with three of the items I have tried there (all on one visit) was ""hmm. I can't tell if I like it or not. I really like some of thse flavors, but it doesn't quite come together. Maybe it just needs salt...or it's missing just one herb to tie it together. I feel like this could be really good but its not quite right."" Maybe I just caught them on a bad day or there was a new guy in the kitchen, but from my experience I think they really need to work on refining the flavors in the creative menu items they serve.

I chose Tobacco Road Sports Café in Durham for my daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for this big event. Rommie and his staff more than exceeded my expectations in every way. They were easy to work with as I kept changing the details of the dinner during the many months of planning, and on the day of the dinner quickly made the necessary changes as the weather (ie: Tropical Storm Andrea) required the dinner to be moved from their outdoor patio to the interior banquet room. And the food was amazing!! Many, many, many compliments about how delicious everything was from the dinner guests. The wait staff kept things flowing at just the right pace, and treated us all like royalty. A splendid time was had by all!

This is one of my top 10 favorite restaurants in Durham, NC. To me, it's most important that a restaurant have (a) unique character or charm and (b) lovingly prepared, amazing food. Hong Kong Chinese has both. I agree that the service is adequate at best, but one simply shouldn't hold authentic Chinese wait staff up to the usual U.S. standards. Instead, just take it as it is. This restaurant is a gem, and if anyone doesn't agree, that's fine -- it just means more delicious food for ME! :) I eat at Hong Kong as often as I can!

The casual and intimate atmosphere at the Bull Durham Bar provides the perfect setting to enjoy a hearty meal after a round of golf or productive day in the boardroom. A full lunch menu is offered in addition to a light all-day dining menu, including a few decadent desserts. Deep wood tones and traditional decor give the bar a timeless elegance unique among Durham restaurants. Enjoy stunning views of the golf course from your table, dine al fresco on the Terrace on the Green or mingle with friends over cocktails by the fireplace. Jan Pong (with red or white soup) is fantastic - delicious handmade noodles and tons of seafood/meat - easily a quart of soup! I recommend eating it in the restaurant - while they package the noodles/soup separately to go, it's just not the same. Their combinations are very reasonably priced with lots of choices. Their hot & sour soup is also one of my favorites. Even their sweet tea is good and they are very attentive to refills.
