Fry's Electronics
I had some time to kill on a Saturday night and enjoy electronic stores so I decided to come here for a bit and it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Upon walking in I was immediately transported a decade back in time circa 2005 before everyone became a smartphone-wielding wannabe techie. Fry's is not your average Best Buy but is more of a cross between the long gone Circuit City and CompUSA so needless to say I felt quite nostalgic as I walked around geeking out looking at all the computer components, accessories, cables, etc. There is even a cafe in the center of the store which really says something about the size and scale of its unfortunately steadily aging concept. Although everything for the most part around the store looked good there were a few empty shelves and malfunctioning displays but I guess that's to be expected in a store this massive that probably doesn't get the same kind of business it used to. While I was initially impressed with my time here that all changed when I saw a tempting Saturday special on one of the monitors where they display their weekly ad which was apparently not carried by the store. The item was a $2 micro USB cable and even though I walked around the store repeatedly in the several spots where these cables are and asked half a dozen employees where they were no one was able to locate them which was rather disappointing. Because this place is so large it can be a little difficult to find things here, as was echoed by one of the employees who tried to help me find the cable who said it's ridiculous how many departments some items are located in. If you are just coming here to browse you will likely enjoy it but if you're looking for a specific item from their circular that could potentially be in dozens of places around the store you will most likely leave feeling nostalgic but also agitated and played like I did.

Just a moment...
