I have been going to Dr.Cabeza's clinic since December 2012 and can honestly say, I will not go anywhere else. My toy poodle, Bella, suffers from renal failure and it has been very tough at times. And if you love your pet, you know exactly what I mean as they are part of your family, and just want to make them feel better. Bella was treated by three other doctors at the clinic before seeing Dr.Cabeza and they were all very helpful. But it is my honest opinion that Dr.Cabeza is simply the best. She has gotten Bella back to her usual spoiled rotten little self without much poking, probing or having to pump her with tons of medicine. She works with you and tries to stay within your budget while doing necessary treatment for your pet. Bella goes to the clinic on a daily basis and every time she walks in the door, we are greeted with a warm welcome from all the techs. They know her temperment and when she seems not like herself, thank you I appreciate all that you do.

I went to Doral Animal clinic late on a weeknight desperately seeking help for my dog after a horrible expirience at Banfield Hospital. Dr. Hammer took her in immediately and began checking her. right away I was told what was wrong and what needed to be done. The attention, love and matter in which my dog was received made all the difference in the world to me. Turns out she had three different problems going on at the same time which immediately Dr. Hammer began taken care off. Among other things that were going on, my dog was suffering with Pyometra which needed immediate surgery. Dr. Hammer took care of that too. She is an angel. GOD bless her hands and continue to help her in helping other people with their pets.

I have been taking my 3 dogs to Dr. Cabeza for about 2 years now. I can honestly say with in the past few months I have seen a drastic improvement in the customer service. Considering I have 3 little ones that seem to eat whatever they can find I am a regular there. For some time I was considering switching clinics after being insulted and offended by the office manager there back around Christmas time. However with in the past few months the environment seems more upbeat & friendly, I met the new manager and she is a breath of fresh air. They are even having a cutest pet contest which I thought was an adorable idea. All I can say is thank goodness because I think Dr.Cabeza is an incredible doctor and care giver to pets.

Is this place the cheapest hospital/vet practice around? No, it isn't. But if you were looking for a hospital or a doctor for yourself or your loved ones, would you go to the cheapest one there is or would you go to the best one who will try to do everything to save your life? If you were sick, would you tell your doctor to spare you a couple of exams or would you ask him to do what it takes to nurse you back to health and save your life? I am one of those who believes that pets are family and if you decide to adopt one you should treat them as such and get the best care you can get until there is nothing else you can do.

What can I say about this wonderful animal clinic. They have been here for me in my most dire crisis with my beloved Clumber Spaniel, Nick. Then the next month a crisis with Stormy and unbelievably, a third crisis with Star. Each time they were absolutely terrific helping my dogs. We could not be more pleased with Dr. Brumm, Dr. Carter and Dr. Cabeza. We love this place! Stormy, Star, Harley and Finn - the Clumber Spaniels Kelli Ann Willis, the mom

I have 3 pets that are patients here & the service here is very caring & compassionate. You can tell by how they interact with you pets that they truly love animals. The clinic seems like a very well ran business...they cover all aspects of my pet's health and keep me informed on things I need to keep watch of or be concerned of. The girls at the front are always polite and helpful.

I just want to say that I am very happy with the service, the care that you provided for my Canelo. Not only did the doctor save him but he saved someone very important in my life. Yes I mean someone because for me he is not a pet he is more like a son he has been the greatest therapy. Thank you for your patience with him Canelo.

Doral Centre Animal Hospital
I definitely recommend this animal hospital to anyone,. They are always open for emergencies, have a great and very professional staff, and always provide the best treatment. I always go to them when I have an emergency, and have never been disappointed. The down side is that they are expensive but well worth it!

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
