Michigan Motor Exchange
I just had Michigan Motor Exchange put a remanufactured engine into my 1998 Bravada. So far everything is running great. No one including myself wants to spend money on an older SUV but it turns out that it was cheaper than buying a new or used car with higher miles. So, for a few thousand bucks, I have a SUV that my 16 year old can drive. Looks good and runs great. David was very helpful in the process and straight forward about the costs. He gave me a competitive quote for the engine and after evaluating what else the truck needed...It was my pressure. It made sense to invest a bit more to address other non-engine related issues. I had my truck back in just over a week. I was referred to Michigan Motor Exchange by another automotive shop. I was very happy with my experience.

I took my 2004 Durango into Michigan Motor Exchange two months ago and had them replace my engine. My experience with them was very positive from the start. They were very thorough in explaining everything that needed to be done and told me at that time I might need some additional parts after diagnosing the problem. They called me to ok everything and explained that these were preventative maintenance items. It has been two months now and I have 1200 miles on the engine and everything is running smoothly. I did have a check engine light come on so called them immediately and went back in to have them check it out. It ended up being nothing and they cleared the code for me.I would highly recommend Michigan Motor Exchange and I would not hesitate to go back to them for future business.

I had my 2000 Escalade motor rebuilt, dropped the vehicle off 2-5-2013 and picked it up 2-11-2013. They went out of there way to give me a ride home. In addition to the rebuild they installed extras such as (belts, hoses, rotor, wires) preparing the car for the next 100,000 miles. I could not be happier for the service I rec'd from everyone involved, from the front guy at the counter to the one that gave me a ride home. Everyone was friendly and professional. If you need work done and want to be comfortable knowing it is taken care of, have it done at Michigan Motor Exchange. Thanks for the excellent service that was provided.

Thank you Larry! For the great outstanding hassle free service that Michigan Motor Exchange provided to our company. You did everything that you said you do and more. I admit that I was a little skeptical at first about taking the route of a remanufactured motor over a new vehicle due to the poor service and broken promises that many service providers give today. However Larry you did right by us. Not only did we get 1 reman but we got 2 which saved us a lot of money as opposed to the route of brand new vehicles. They look good they run great and we're saving a lot of cash on insurance. Thanks again, Tony

I really think that the overall services done to my car has made a great difference! I'm VERY particular on who works on my baby, and I feel the mechanics are very skilled. However, as with most places, they tend to slightly overcharge women, but they had my car serviced w/in a day and a half, and I have yet to have issues w/ the parts they worked on. No complaints other than they don't have coffee sitting out lol. Great place, good, humble mechanics, pleasant but small atmosphere, and highly recommended overall!

Not your typical auto repair shop. Honest and professional place. I was ready to junk my car because no shop could figure out why the trans on mu truck was stuck in first gear. R.A.C. found the problem in a matter of an hour, changed the seals on transfer case, replaced the actuator and my trucks been running great ever since. Ill definitely be doing all my repairs at this place. I've never been more satisfied with service and prices at any other shop and I recommend R.A.C. to anyone with car trouble

Wrecked my Panamera in the front (long story) and needed a Front Bumper, a Hood, Radiator, Cooling Fan, and a few other things. They had so many parts I got to pick which ones I wanted (and these are hard to find parts). Price was fair, and their service was incredible. They emailed me photos of the parts and shipped everything later the same day and I got it all 2 days later. I really can't say enough about these guys. Buy your parts here.

I brought my 97 Chevy Camaro to Michigan Motor Exchange over a year ago, they rebuilt the motor and it has been running great ever since. I have driven to Lansing several times and the car ran well, not to mention I drive to work about 30 miles daily roundtrip. I would recommend their services to anyone in need of a motor. Very helpful and great customer service.

This is by far the greatest shop I have been to in many years! They were all very professional and courteous and treated us with respect. I ended up sending my wife to pick up our car and they explained everything they had done and reassured her the problems were fixed. They are far more affordable than any other shop and highly recommend their services.

Tips & Advices
Depending on the part and its overall quality, a good amount of money can be saved by purchasing aftermarket parts versus OEM parts. But aftermarket parts that are low in price might also be lower in quality and could do more harm than good to your car, or they may need to be replaced more frequently than a more expensive counterpart. This could lead to saving some money in the short term, but spending more than anticipated in the long term.
The type of tires being purchased is the most significant determinant of their price. SUV tires are more costly than average car tires. And high-performance tires are more costly than economy grade tires. On average, standard tires for an average-sized vehicle are around $100 per tire. Standard tires for an SUV are around $150 and pick-up truck tires are about $200 on average. Some dealers offer discounts if purchasing more than one tire.
Car inspections typically take about an hour. However the wait time can be longer depending on how busy the shop is. Call ahead for an appointment to avoid long wait times.
Depending on the manufacturer, certain aftermarket parts can be just as reliable as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. But one item within a vehicle, like oil filters for instance, could have multiple manufacturers and there could be inconsistencies in quality among them.
Costs of replacing a windshield can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors:
  • Vehicle make and model
  • How much of the cost insurance will cover
  • Whether the windshield installers come to your location or you bring the vehicle to them
  • Standard service costs of the windshield installers
Generally, newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
