The living environment is good, and the management is very efficient and helpful. Generally speaking, it is an ideal place to live around Wayne State.
1415 Parker St
What is not to love about this place? After spending nearly a month searching for housing in Detroit, the staff of Parkstone were the only ones to treat me with professionalism and courtesy. I met with Nicole, the head of Leasing for the properties, (they have more than one) and to be honest, it is one of the reasons I chose to live here. I was warmly welcomed, was well-informed, and I left feeling like I was already part of their community. She spent over an hour with me telling me about their community, the history of the property, introduced me to tenants, and didn't make me feel rushed or pressured. What a difference from rushed meetings at other properties where you barely get a handshake and a smile - if even a return phone call! This place was truly a Godsend! I have been here for close to 3 months now, and love every tiny nook and cranny of this building and neighborhood. My neighbors were all so friendly and welcoming, and CraftWork right in the building is beyond awesome, making it easy to gather for cocktails after work. (Try their fish and chips - you won't regret it!) From Andrew the Superintendent to Keith their Property Manager, and even to Zenko (?), the owner, this place has mass charm and appeal. Not regretting my decision to move here one tiny little bit!!!

The best place to live in the downtown area. The manager is excellent and the atmosphere is friendly, jazzy and homey. The lofts could be updated a bit, but overall the best place to live in the "D".

8.Capitol Manor Apartments
1725 Van Dyke St Apt E
I loved this apartment building! I lived there for a year, but had to move due to getting a job in St. Louis. The staff were always kind and fixed things when asked. The building was kept very clean and I never had any problems with insects. The heat for the building (boiler/radiators) is controlled by the management, but I was never cold. Lastly, this neighborhood is really on the up swing. West Village has new shops and I always felt safe here! I would recommend living here!
14075 Riverview St
I like it here. I rent a townhouse with woodfloors and updated kitchen. I like having a full basement. The office staff is nice. I have only had to call for one maintenance issue and they took care of it pretty fast. Management had a bunch of resident activities a while ago that were really nice, like giving us breakfast when we were on our way to work and movie night for the kids. They also gave the kids school supplies at a big cookout a couple of summers ago. Since I have been here a few years, I know most of my neighbors. There are mostly good people here, some not so great, but I guess anywhere you rent is going to be that way.

8100 E Jefferson Ave
Wow Alden you were great for a whole six months. Hired a new security service full of young people that don't really ever know what's going on. we've been locked out of the laundry facility at night when the only people representing the building is the guards and was told they aren't allowed to give us the maintenance number since We should already have it. And they weren't going to call either. Thank God a fellow tenant walked by with the number. Although the maintenance guy never came. Then you let go of a great office staff that knew us and took very good personal care of us. We put a notice that we were moving and your new office staff have no records of it and were nasty over the phone blaming us for not getting a copy of it. Well shame on us for thinking you guys had any clue how to take over a business. what a mess. Everything from your new security service to your office is a mess. And your new manager never heard of the customers always right thing and was totally rude. I'm only giving you two stars because the building is so pretty. Glad we're leaving soon. Hope you get your stuff together soon. Probably shouldn't have changed everything so fast makes thinks difficult for clients.
13.Top Of The Drive Apartment
12870 W Outer Dr Apt 211
743 Beaubien St
Great location and huge lofts, but the details are not so great... \r \r Security is nonexistant, the front door lock is mainly decorative, there is no lock to keep people off the roof - if you are on the 5th floor you will frequently hear people running around on the roof... \r \r I wouldn't park my car on the street - the greektown casino didnt complete the hotel yet and that lot is close and you don't have to take a ticket to get in (which means you dont have to go in the casino and get it validated)...\r \r The apartment wasn't cleaned before I moved in, even though they said it would be, there are holes between floors, I can see the guy's place downstairs, the elevator frequently gets stuck on floors or in-between floors, and there is ZERO sound insulation between units, I can hear my neighbors below and next door sneeze. \r \r When I first moved in, they took care of a few things, but it's been taking longer and longer to get things fixed - there is still no smoke detector in my unit... Management has a hands-off attutide which can be good or bad.
24235 W McNichols Rd
The apartment on the inside is nice and the rent is great but....... there are prostitutes that handle their "business" in the parking lot and management does nothing about it. There was a leak in my bathroom from the bathroom upstairs they stopped the leak but the wall has water damage still and they not fixed it. Also the quality of people has gone down music and parties all night, people banging on the breezeway door. If you work this is not the place for you keep looking.
5440 Cass Ave
Do not move to this building. You will not get a security deposit back and if by chance you do it will be late and less than you expect even if you did not damage your unit. Maintenance requests are never met, the building manager Mike will laugh off any question with a ""yeah, i'll send someone right up"" only to never actually do it. When i was moving out of my unit he let a tenant move their stuff in 5 days before the end of the month w/ out asking my persion and w/ out paying me rent which i already paid. He is rude, unprofessional, swears at clients, and a terrible excuse for a manager. If you wan't to live in a buildling with asbestos, broken in walls, loud hallways, broken a/c units, cockroachs, and a terrible manager.. choose the belcrest.
17.Midtown Place Apartments
641 Brainard St
NOT SAFE Strangers have broken in several times to sleep in the laundry room. They have left human feces behind on several occasions. Members of the homeless community lounge on our porches and scatter their belongings about. It is helpful to call the police to have strangers removed, but it is definitely not a safe and comfortable living environment. I've lived here for a few years now and I've witnessed a decline in quality since the change in management. There has also been an increase in shady characters residing at this location. I've witnessed a few fights in the parking lot and other things I'm afraid to speak on. Neighbors have caught people sleeping in their cars and stealing their belongings. Some residents smoke inside the buildings which travels into my apartment. This is very uncomfortable for people who are asthmatic, pregnant or who do not want smoke in their apartments. The management staff is currently doing nothing to fix these issues despite numerous complaints.
18.John R Apartments
2627 John R St
*BUYER BEWARE: These apartments are NOTHING like the pictures loftpace.com posts on their website! Even if you are considering another property, know that there are currently three class-action lawsuits in place against this company.* We (my husband, our then 15-month old son, myself, and our dog) moved into the John R Apartments in October of 2013, from out-of-state, needing immediate residence. There were several issues with the unit that we reported on our move-in condition form. For starters, the apartment was absolutely FILTHY. We spent days scrubbing grease and grime off of every surface, especially the kitchen cupboards, floor, and stove. There are two windows that do not close completely, one window pane that has a crack running across it, several broken outlets, a running toilet, and our stove is missing parts. None of these issues have ever been addressed, despite persistent complaints. In November, we noticed that the heat was not working at all. We were told to buy a space heater for which we would be reimbursed $50 off of our next month’s rent. Since the heat has been on and working, it has never been sufficient. The space heater has to be on for the bedroom to be a bearable temperature. By the end of December, not even the space heater set on high AND the unit heater (which we were still told was ON and WORKING) together could keep our bedroom warm. We ended up blocking off the bedroom completely and moving into the living room, bed and all. Further complaints were made, not only by us but by several tenants, but no action was taken. In the beginning of January, I entered the bedroom to feed my fish, and found that the 3-gallon tank had frozen solid, even though it was pushed up against the unit heater. Again, we complained and were told that the heat was on and working. We submitted a letter stating that we were withholding rent until our apartment was made livable. That same day, the water stopped working (due to burst pipes- which wouldn’t have happened if the building was properly heated), and the power went out. We were forced to leave for safety reasons and have not yet been able to return. A few days later, pipes burst in our ceiling. We were contacted by the management and asked to get there as soon as possible. The damage is extensive and also poses an electrical hazard. A maintenance team was called in to assess the damage. When they entered, water was actively leaking from the ceiling and walls. They ripped the stove from the wall, still plugged in and hooked to the gas line, and cut a large hole in the wall behind it. The piece of wall that they cut away was discarded in our bathtub, along with a piece of wood removed from the bathroom ceiling and a small cutout from the kitchen/living room area. No further “repairs” were made that day, and none have been made to date. The maintenance team made no effort to clean up after themselves, and didn’t put the stove back either. We were recently mailed an eviction notice for nonpayment of rent. This has been the company’s only response to our situation. As of January 28, 2014, our apartment has been completely unlivable for 21 days. Despite our repeated complaints and phone calls, we have not been given any estimate on when our apartment will be livable again, or when any repairs will begin.
19.Campus Village At Cass Avenue
100 W Ferry St Ste 1
Horrible place to live! My bathroom door does not close at all because it hits the bathroom sink, so my door is constantly quarter of the way open. My refrigerator door can not open all the way because it hits the narrow kitchen. Some of the windows will not open and all but 1 has to be propped up to be opened. During the warm days you see rats on the street. We have a problem with BED BUGS! The management tried to treat it twice. First with chemicals, which did not work at all! Second time was with heat and in which I heard that some apartments are still infested. There were 4 days when we had no hot water at all and there was no warning about it. So my advice is do not live here.

23.Mc Nichols Apartments
24235 W Mcnichols Rd
Do not move here they do not care about tenets. Neighbors are rude and management does nothing about it. Grounds are not kept neat weeds everywhere in the summer time, often times there is trash in the parking lot. Prostitutes use the parking lot as their "office", management has been told about this so many times. A gate would nice...... It seems that they left anyone move in. This is a nice small apartment building with nice big bedrooms, and great patios. Rent is a great price also, busy my neighbors are horrible and I have to leave. This once was a nice place to live, but not anymore. I don't think that the owner or management cares because they don't have to live here and guess what neither do I. I'll be moving soon.
24.Woodland Arms Apartments

First off they feel your head with lies about how nice it is there and its not. Its like living in new jack city. They have a convicted level 3sex offender living there and doing maintance. Its loud and ghetto. There are always fights and everyone is in everybody bussiness. The maintance come when they wont to. There are lots of people who half way pay there rent and the people who pay there rent are constinly hound. Cars are stolen away from there. There are men who beat they girl friends and lots of loud music and weed smoking going on. Also there are apartments there that dont even have smoke detecters in the apartments. Cellings cracking and nobody fixing them. People living in one bed rooms with a lot of ghetto room mates. If you have childern stay away from here. The rent a cops think they are police
