Keeton Onsite Auto Repair
My daughter's friend recommended John Keeton to. He did a great job on her car, so when I had trouble I called him, too. I couldn't start my car. First he tried to find something easy (and inexpensive for me) that would solve the problem, like wiring. He did all his tests and determined that I needed a new starter. He took out my old one. I took it to a nearby auto parts store (my choice-he would have gone). They told me my starter was fine, and so I took it back to him. He informed me that the conditions of their test are not the same as the conditions of an actual car. But he put it back in for me. Of course, my car still didn't start. I took it back again and told them I wanted the new starter. Again I brought it to John, and he installed it. My car started like a charm. He did twice the amount of work but only charged an additional $20.I had been having trouble for a long time with my car dying when I came to stops and accelerating slowly. Long ago I had taken it to two shops to see what they would say and the cost. One said I needed all new hoses (cost $300-$400). The other said I needed a tune-up (cost $400 on up). The problem became bad a few months after my started, so I called John again. Again he came and did some tests. Again he looked for the least expensive option for me. This time it turned out to be 2 of my fuel injectors weren't working. He quoted me $230 for the fuel injectors, but when he did the work he only charged $200 because he said it took him less time than he had quoted for. When my daughter bought a new car, she had to install a new drive belt, and he did this work as well.John Keeton is both competent and honest. What's cool is that he shows you why he says what is wrong with your car. For example, he showed me how he knew it was the fuel injectors that weren't working. I highly recommend him

Gillette Automotive Repair
This is by far one of the best places to go and have your vehicle serviced. Linda, one of the owners is the sweetest person you will ever meet. She has gone out of her way on every one of my visits to ensure that I get a good price for the parts I need, and doesn't overcharge like other places. The staff is so friendly and treat you like one of the family. Last year when I needed to have my car repaired to pass inspection, Linda informed me of the Air Check Texas program, which allowed the state to pay, and allowed me to save $600 dollars from my repair on a catalytic converter. Other repair shops I have been to would have just taken my money and could care less about how the repair hurt my pockets. I absolutely love this place and will come her as long as they are in business.

Gillette Automotive Repair
I can't say enough good things about this family owned and run business. I travel across the country for business and needed help today. They were extremely courteous on the phone when I called. The tow truck got me there late in the day (1-1/2 hours late) and they still greeted me openly. They diagnosed the "no start" issue on my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, ordered the starter, and repaired the truck in no time. I could not be happier and would recommend them to anyone. Great job to everyone at Gillette Automotive Repair. Thank you very much!

Allstate Transmissions & Auto Repair
Took my truck into Allstate Transmission and Auto Repair. My transmission was shot. The guys at Allstate took care of me with a lifetime warranty. Truck was running great for a couple of months and then it started leaking transmission fluid. They took it back in, no questions asked and took care of it. Turned out to be a faulty weld on the torque converter. Thank goodness for the warranty and the guys at Allstate.

They are always helpful and have friendly faces. You can count on Mike to get the job done. They don't lead you on over small things about your car, it's straight to the point from the time you come in until the time your car is ready. I have never had a bad service from them.

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
