Tom Davis Automotive
Tom Davis Automotive is absolutely the best auto repair company I've ever had repair my car. First before the work I spoke with Lisa about the issue (car was stolen and they took and broke parts of my motor), she was so thoughtful and took the time to assure me that all would be fine & was the only one who actually gave me any since of calm and most importantly it would be fixed perfectly with the only about of money I had. Second the gentleman that did the repair work did an amazing job!!!! It's a 2002 and it now drives and runs like a 2015. They did everything in one day and even took the time to bring it to me when they were finished. They went about and beyond. This is my 2nd time having repairs done with the same excellent results!!!!

White's Automotive
Very honest shop. Wonderful Experience. My college age daughter (ISU) had an accident with her Honda Civic in January. Lost control of the car on I-35 and hit the median guardrail. The car had some body damage due to the accident. Her boyfriend thought the car brakes and steering felt soft and maybe were damaged. She brought the car to White's to have them check it out. They did a great job looking at it and found that nothing was wrong with the car. They did not charge her for anything. It is really wonderful to find a repair shop so honest and helpful. We will definitely use them in the future. It was great to have somebody confirm that the car was OK and to give us peace of mind. Thanks!!

White's Automotive
Super friendly and honest My 1996 Honda accord (stick-shift) sounds hoarse when starting to move and driving at low speed. The noise seems to be worse during corner turning and breaking. I suspected big trouble and called Mr. White who is the owner and mechanic. Although full in schedule, he allowed me to come to his shop. He stood aside, let me to start and move my car, and knew right away that it was low in steering fluid. The problem went away after adding the fluid. It was almost free of charge. I can’t thank him enough and definitely will come back and recommend him to friends and families.

White's Automotive
This is the best kept secret in Des Moines in automotive repair! The guys at White's are honest, skilled, honest, accomodating, honest, very reasonably priced, honest, easy going, honest, hardworking, honest, and honest. Oh! And did I mention honest? What more do you want in an automotive mechanic?? If you're not taking your vehicles to White's, you're probably paying too much and getting ripped off, but please don't go there so I can get in quicker when I need to. Thanks.

Drake Garage
These guys know their stuff and do not hang you out to dry on costs. My family has trusted them with our past four vehicles and every time we want to buy a used vehicle, we pay for their diagnostic check because they do such a thorough job that it is worth the money. Every time we need work done on a vehicle, their cost beats anyone else and they do a fantastic job!! We always recommend them to all of our friends and family members when they need auto service.

Mobile Windshield Repair
I had my windshield replaced and was impressed with the quick turnaround time. The job was done the same day I called for an appointment. The price was even better as it was the best price quoted to me. The service was excellent and the technician was very nice and took the time to explain everything he had done and what I needed to do. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get their windshield fixed.

Midwest Wheel Companies
Was so helpful! Driving from out of town. They closed at 530. We called at 525 freaking out, was 20 minutes away. Stayed open extra late for us to get there. Gave us super easy directions on how to get there. Was super nice on the phone. Great prices. Gave us absolutely everything we needed and a few extra bolts incase we lost a few. Would give 10 stars if i could! Would go back again if i was in the area. Highly recommend!

Cross-Dillon Tire Inc
Excellent Alignment Technician for Semi Tractor and Trailers on staff there. Ask For Barry, He is the Best out there and highly qualified with many years of Mechanical Experience. Oh and when you do go there and I know you will be satisfied let Management know and tell them they are very lucky to have someone with Barry's expertise working for them. Then maybe they will finally pay him what he is worth!!!

Drake Garage
Drake Garage has repaired our three cars for years. We have always been treated fairly and honestly. If something needs immediate attention they will tell you and if you can get a few more miles out of it they will tell you that as well. Their prices compare well with dealers, have reacted quickly to any concerns, and have honored their warranties. You get that for which you pay.

Bill's Whitewall Tire Center
I've taken my car, my mom's car and always reccomend Bills Whitewall to my friends and everyone has thanked me for the referral. They don't do just tires, they can fix a lot of things too. Mark and Lee are the best and they usually have the best price, but the service that you get will put any other shop to shame. Great place to get work done or a new set of wheels and tires.
Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
