Family Flex
Although our interaction with Family Flex was brief, the negative impression that we were left with is extremely deep and warrants attention.Let me be clear that the negative review of Family Flex has nothing to do with the actual child care. In fact, our daughter never attended a class at the facility. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to disenroll our daughter within 48 hours of applying to the program.Family Flex proceeded to charge us for a full month of childcare, citing the 'disenrollment' policy of 30 days notice. As a professional businesswoman, I can appreciate the need for contracts and agreements that protect the financial stability of an organization. But to enforce this clause on a situation where the child has not stepped foot in the facility seems more than unreasonable. In the end, my family was charged a Registration Fee, Curriculum Fee and 30 days of tuition and my daughter did not attend one day at the school. My interaction with the Executive Director was extremely disappointing. She was not versed in the policy (and therefore did not mention that we'd be charged for the month), did not return my calls in a reasonable manner, and inappropriately compared my family's situation with hers and other Family Flex families.Family Flex prides itself on being a "convenient place to help ease the demands of modern parenthood" but our experience has been quite the opposite.Apparently Family Flex's financial support not only comes in the form of gifts, donations and grants but from charging families for the 'intention' of enrolling their child despite never attending.

Step By Step
Not the best daycare out here. Thats probably why they had openings for my kids. Very sucky parking it is so dangerous to open the car door on Zuni. My baby was drinkng another bottle her first day!! Missing clothes never got back. The older kids room is always dirty. Ghada is always in a rush. I never got any feed back on my my kids were adapting to the place. When we picked up my belongings I had missing diapers a pack of missing wipes missing xtra clothes lost watter bottle. Oh the list goes on. Very unorganized. We lasted 2 weeks. It is definitely a place to never go back!!!

Bright Star Early Learning Center
PARENTS BEWARE! My son attended Bright Star for a year and a half. At first we thought they were ok. Not the nicest pre-school around but it was a very convenient location for us. After he turned 3 and entered a new classroom he came home on two separate instances and told me a specific teacher had hit and scratched him. The second time he had actual bruising on the back of his neck! I obviously brought this to the attention of the school. From that point on it turned into a nightmare. The situation was so poorly handled by the director I couldn't believe it. I really think they were more concerned with losing another teacher (they seem to have a high turnover) than they were with allegations of abuse at their pre-school. They initially only agreed to move the teacher to another classroom but never actually even followed through with those actions. Eventually they told us that just wasn't convenient for them. Basically I think they were trying to force us out of the school so they could sweep this situation under the rug before other parents found out. Because of state laws they were at least required to report the incident and they will be investigated. Meanwhile this teacher continues to have daily contact with children and they seem ok with that. We have obviously moved schools and are much happier. Even if this teacher was removed or left the school the way this situation was handled by the administration says volumes abut how they operate.

The Goddard School
We could not be more happy with Goddard School. My 4 year old loves it. They provide a great balance of structure and independent play, and email detailed updates with photos and activity summaries throughout the day! It is so great to know what my daughter is doing while I'm at work.I personally love the fact that parents supply their child's lunch-- I know I don't want my child eating processed school lunches! The teachers always go out of their way to say positive things about my child and her day when I pick her up.And the school hours-- 6am to 6pm-- can't be beat for working parents.Goddard School has been such a blessing for our family all around.

Bright Horizons Montessori On The Mall
Be straight -- this is not a Montessori school. They have some of the materials and know some of the concepts but it is in no way a real Montessori. That being said, my child did receive good care here (age 2-3) specifically from her teachers/aids. The teacher turnover is high which, sadly, is common in daycare. The administration does not communicate well with their parents or their teachers. I finally started contacting my teachers directly via text/email because nothing seemed to get passed through. There are much better (i.e., nonprofit) centers but it certainly is a safe environment for children. They're just not all they tell you that they are and you end up paying for a Montessori education that your child will not get. They are FOR PROFIT and don't ignore that fact. I didn't think it mattered to me but when the teachers are asking for classroom materials as their xmas gifts while you can simply add up how much the center is making (headcount x monthly fee) it's sad that a teacher there should ever have to use a holiday to request classroom materials. We moved to a non-profit Montessori school are in hind sight I realize just how un-Montessori this place was.
