Hawkesworth Plumbing
Called Hawkesworth out for a water service leak. The leak was not obvious other than the spinning meter. There were no puddles of water or muddy areas. Hawkesworth said that this was a massive job and he would have to tear up my driveway to find it and he charge me $75 for coming out. The next morning I called another local plumber who found the leak and repaired it in less than 1 hour. He brought a stainless steel rod and plugged it into the ground at several locations until he discovered moisture. Tree roots had cracked the pipe and he cut the roots back and promptly fixed it. Wish I would have called him first instead of Hawkesworth.

Had no luck with this guy. Said we had leak and his equipment could find a leak. Seems the leak was our pool running.

I was so surprised to have someone answer my call on a Sunday night! I had sewer water backing up into my shower and a toilet that was not going down. With 2 small children and only 1 bathroom, this is a major problem. Jeff came out within the hour and cleared my stoppage. He was reasonable in price, courteous, and professional. I would not only recommend him to others but he is the only plumber we will call upon in the future.

Tips & Advices
A trustworthy plumber will have both commercial liability insurance as well as be bonded. The insurance and the bond protects the plumber from paying for any damages made to your house out of pocket. Having professionals that carry both of these policies can protect all of you from any mishaps that could occur while they work on your building.
  • Before calling a plumber, try to unclog your drains and toilets yourself by using a plunger.
  • Make sure you use a standard bell-shaped plunger for your sink and shower drains and a plunger with a flanged end for your toilets.
  • If neither type can loosen the pipe blockage, put a plumber's snake to use.
  • Ratchet the snake down the pipe to eliminate any clogs.
Usually, a leaky or dripping faucet is an easy fix that can be done by anyone who is even slightly handy with tools.. To fix it, first shut off the water under the sink then remove any decorative parts of the faucet and replace the washer and O-ring before reassembling everything.
To keep yourself safe from fraud or a possible scam, always remember to ask plumbers for their license along with a written warranty for their labor. Besides this, further safeguard yourself by checking their references and ensure they or their company is insured and bonded to do their work.
If you're having hot water issues, you can examine the thermostat and adjust it accordingly. If you hear odd sounds coming from your water heater, it could be due to sediment building up. To get rid of this, make sure you clean out the heater every few months. However, if you hear a boiling noise, it could mean the heater is overheating and you should call a plumbing professional as soon as possible.
