Advanced Automotive Repair
My car started running worse and worse and then it began overheating. I went to the garage close to where I live. They looked at it and said the engine needed rebuilding and quoted me over a thousand dollars. That was way out of my budget. When my dad heard he recommended a garage he has used for 15 years repeatedly. Out of desperation I took his advice and went to ADVANCED AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR of Deland Fl for their diagnosis. After looking at it, they said it only needed a head gasket for $290. They had it fixed the next day and I was out the door. That was four months ago and it still runs like a champ. The funny part is, Jud from ADVANCED AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR is not a slick talker that convinces you like some high priced sweet talking salesman out to empty your wallet. He says whats wrong with the car, what it will cost to fix it, how long it takes to fix. After that he doesn't have much to say. He doesn't seem desperate for more business. Conversation is not his strong suit. But fixing it right and saving me money is his strong suit, and that suited me just fine. Thanks Jud. Sharon

Dave has been wonderful to us and our vehicles. In a world where car dealerships and so many technicians are downright criminal Dave is a breath of fresh air. Dave has always treated us with kindness and respect. Being of humble means it is awesome ro know an honest technician who does only what needs to be done at a fair price. Another rare quality in Dave if you provide the part he only charges labor that my friend is hard to find. Dave does his very best to diagnose your problem first time out though like in many repairs he never knows when a greater problem will be found. In closing if you want someone who is honest and good Dave is your man.

DeLand Collision Center
I had an accident which was someone else's fault - so I can't speak to the cost. I only know that they were very helpful. My father had just died and I had no paperwork with me as my life was in chaos. They pulled the information and took care of things for me. They have excellent customer service. And as stated in someone else's review, the car was cleaner inside and out when it was returned to me. I can't even tell there was ever any damage to the car. And I have a lifetime guarantee as long as I own this car. They made a tough time a little easier for me.I would recommend them to anyone needed body work to their vehicle.

Ted And Sons Automotive Services
We use Ted & Sons when we need auto repairs. I asked around and saw positive reviews. All of my dealings have been great. A couple different times we would go there with a problem Jerry or his brother would fix it in just a few minutes and then say no charge. Each time I didn't expect it and I thought it would be at least $100. Another time I turned on the AC an smoke came out the air vent. They sent use over to Orange city Auto Elect. It is an Honest company because honest people work there. They do little things for nothing when they can they repair autos right the first time at a fair price. I highly recommend them. Bill Watford

DeLand Collision Center
Good people to deal with . Located additional damage not noted in original appraisal which was essential to a correct repair . Car returned cleaner inside and out than when taken in for the repairs . Reasonable charge to insurer for the quality and extent of work done . Arranged a smaller rental car than mine which saved me ( and the insurer ) on rental cost and fuel charges , which was helpful at this time . I am very pleased with the quality of work performed , and can recommend this business to others .

Welch's Auto Center
Issac, currently at Welch Automotive has been my go to man for all my auto and truck repairs for as long as I've been in DeLand. I'm a owner of a local plumbing company and I found him by recommendation. He is Very Competent and concerned for my interests. He has even recommended others at times to get me the best results for certain situations. I been treated fair and professionally since the first time someone said to me what I'm saying to you, "Find Isaac Welch. You'll be glad you did."

Our car was in need of lots of repair so we looked into replacing it but decided we couldn't affors it right now. A friend recommended Wallace Automotive in Deland so we brought our car there. We had to have new front and rear struts, all new brakes, new steering pump, a complete tune-up and he even replaced our door handles all at a reasonable price. Our car has not run this good in years. We may never have to replace it. Thank-you Wallace Automotive!

They have some of the nicest staff around there owner is one of the most helpful mechanics you will ever meet. There prices blow out all major auto repair places like Sears who charged $600 to fix a water pump while Autometrics did it for $300 which includes a $100 tow!!!! Go to them now you won't regret it!

Dyno Tune Center
My van quit on me while I was on the way to Deland so I had it towed to Dyno Tune where they discovered that the crankshaft position sensor was bad. The final bill was a little less than what they had quoted me so that was a pleasant surprise. If you want a correct diagnosis, efficient and competent repair, and a fair bill for services rendered this is the place.

Dyno Tune Center
Totally efficient and reliable. Have had my cars and trucks tuned up and serviced by these folks over the past several years and have never had to go to have them re-fix anything. Easy to make appointments with and always serviced on or before the stated time. Will continue to use this business as long as I am living in the central Florida area.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
