Advance Auto Tech Inc
Hey guys, I found this car repair shop that's great. I am going to school and don't have much money. So when I took my car to get emissions and it fell, I checked around profuciously for the best rates. All the other shops told me that my 2005 BMW needed a catalyst converter replaced and that the "cat" price alone would be over $1000? I was like WTF? Everybody's price to fix my car ranged between $600- $1500. I had given up and had even posted my car on Craigslist to sell. Then my girlfriends aunt told me about the exceptional customer service and pricing at this shop that's under new management. I didn't make a big deal about it but after having posted my car for 2 weeks and realizing that either no one is gonna buy my car when it's going to cost over $1000 to fix, or that if they do want to buy it, I would have to sell it for over $3000 below its worth. As I've said, I'm going to school, so money IS an issue since I only make $8.75 an hour and trying to make ends meet. I realized that I would have to either fix my car and sell it to get ANY value, or continue to keep it. But then I would still need to get it fixed anyways because my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks (no emissions no tags :( ) So I called my girlfriends aunt and got the name of the shop she raved about. It turns out to be Advance Auto Tech Inc, go figure the Inc? But upon entering, I got a warm greeting by who I guess to be the manager? After telling him my em mission issue he surprisingly gave me several choices. I of course opted for the cheapest choice. Which turned out to only be like $160 with tax. I was super sceptical because I didn't have this option before with the shops I checked out. I just got my emissions, and it passed with flying colors. Thanks Tony and Advance Auto...INC? ... still haven't figured the Inc out yet. But they were super nice and gave me such outstanding service that I felt a need to share. Check them out guys.

LexTech Lexus Repair of Atlanta
These guys are honest to the "T". I got a quote for extensive repair from a dealership in the Atlanta area and started reading reviews of LexTechs and thought I'd give them a call. They quoted me a full $1000 less than the dealership. I set the appointment for $3200 of repair and agreed to it. Two days before they were to do the work for $3200, Chad called to tell me Lexus had changed the price of the parts. I expected it to go up! He said Lexus had drastically reduced the price and he would be able to do the work for $2000. He COULD have just charged me the $3200 and I probably would never have known the difference. These are good people. DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care
I think this is the best car repair place that I have ever gone to. The owner really cares about his customers. All the mechanics are great also. The young lady who works the front office has always been very nice to me. When I call them its like calling a friend about my cars. They have work on my 2006 Jeep and they have my 2005 PT Crusier that they are working on now. I've never trusting anyone with my cars, the way that I trust them. I would tell anyone women for sure if you want the truth at a fair price. Please call them nothing but realness there. Thank you all for everything. I'm really afraid to go to anyone else. AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care
I have a 9 piece band and we travel extensivelyrics in our GMC conversion van. Last year 2 weeks before Christmas the transmission went south while in Tampa. Got it towed home and had Eddie fix it. Damn if it didn't stop going in reverse right before a huge gig 3 weeks ago. Thankfully we were local. Got it back to Eddie and he honored the warranty plus repaired it although I was slightly over in mileage. On The Road Again is not just a Willie Nelson song folks. Eddie is a STAND UP GUY. He didn't blow me off like some repair shops would have. Transmission Problems, let Eddie Solve"em!

Mr. Transmission
Mr. Transmission in Decatur Ga...One of the few Mechanic's I've met that are FAIR and HONEST! Took my Corolla in for a diagnosed electrical problem inside the transmission. Turned out to be the actual computer in the car. Scott kept me up to date on everything that he had to do to my car and at the end of my visit to his shop I felt like I had made a friend. These guys don't and won't stop until they find and FIX the issue and will NOT break the bank doing it! Thanks Mr. Transmission

Munich West
I just recently bought a new Volvo and took it into Munich West for your basic services and check through. They did a wonderful job. Fast, efficient, decent priced, and honest. They didn't try to get me to spend more then what I had planned to begin with. They told me what I could get away with for awhile and what should be worked on as soon as possible. Very polite and you can tell they care. I will be returning for sure, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Quantum Mechanics
Quantum has been our trusted auto service provider for years. They are steadfastly reliable, generous and smart about our multiple cars - now going on our 7th that we have taken to them. We trust them implicitly and recommend them without reluctance. They are not cheap but their pricing seems reasonable. Check "CarTalk" referrals and others online.

Fray's Auto
Ive been dealing with Mr Fray for about ten years now. His shop wasn't always the best equipped but he's made drastic improvements in the years as of late. He's also a proficient business man, and very well informed of his Professional responsibility. I hope to do much business with his establishment in the future.

Gerber Collision & Glass
Have used them for glass repair when our car was broken into, and for body repair after an accident. We were pleased with the quality and speed of the work. While there were occasional lapses in communication, compared to many other similar places, we found the experiences to be positive and efficient.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
