Pet Doctor of Davie
I have 5 purebred Japanese Bobtail Cats (2 of which were Imported from Japan) and they all went to see Dr. Osti today for their first visit. My husband and I have recently retired to the Davie area and needed to find a local Vet for our JBT kitties. I must say I was super impressed with how clean and state-of-the-art her facility was. Having worked for a Vet previously - I feel I am in a position to judge! Dr. Osti's staff was super polite and extremely helpful. All 5 cats got a clean bill of health - and the price was definitely right. We look forward to having a great relationship with this Vet clinic for years to come.Dr. Osti is the "cream of the crop" in our book !

Jacaranda Animal Hospital
I'm originally from out of the state but I spent a couple of weeks in Florida and brought along my cat, Toby who enjoys the water. After a few days of hitting the beach, there were signs of yeast infection due to his ears getting wet (I've been a bad cat owner), like excess ear wax or whatever those dirty things are. Anyway, I sought out Dr. Mendy in JAH and I can say that he and his staff did an awesome job in dealing with Toby's ailment, cleaned his ears and treated him with utmost care and professionalism. I highly recommend this animal clinic and Dr. Mendy.

Jacaranda Animal Hospital
We have been a client of Jacaranda Animal Hospital for over a decade now.. We are a foster-based rescue group by the name of Pets In Distress, Inc. and if it wasn't for the support of Dr. Mendy and his wonderful staff, we would have had to close down our rescue operation years ago. We bring in dogs & cats in the most appalling conditions and Dr. Mendy is always able to help them. He truly practices "Rescue Medicine" and there isn't that many vets out there that do. I also bring my own personal pets to Dr. Mendy.Elena Mavros, Pets In Distress, Inc.

Jacaranda Animal Hospital
I have been bringing my dogs to JAH for over 14 years. Dr. Mendy has always given my girls exceptional care and unlimited time, whether he saw then when they were healthy or ill. His veterinary knowledge, love of animals and gentle "bedside manner" make his patients feel comfortable and their owners feel confident that their pet/s are in good hands. I have been living in Stuart the past 5 years but have continued to bring my Bella to JAH. I highly recommend Dr. Mendy, his assistant Karina and his staff to all pet lovers.

Jacaranda Animal Hospital
The folks at Jacaranda Animal Hospital, Dr. Mendy and Karina, have taken excellent care of my 3 year old mixed breed dog, ever since he was 2 and a half months old. From his annual shots, to his neutering, various minor infections etc were all treated with thorough information and concern.I have recommended Jacaranda Animal Hospital, Davie, to 2 more of my neighbors and they too have expressed their satisfaction with the services here.I continue to sing the praises of Dr. Mendy and his team!

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
