Five Stars for the record. I have been boarding and training many many dogs with Pam & Ken White for over 26 years. Training in multi areas with either Ken and/or Pam depending on the type of training. I found they trained the dog, me, and us together, taking any needed extra time to help enforce the training.I have had problem dogs, and problems in certain areas of training with other dogs, as well as interactions between the dogs and myself.Firstly, I believe Ken to be a sort of "Dog Whisperer" many times I have watched this man, from the sideline with others, as well as myself. Almost immediately, Ken can detect the problems, and guide you and your dog through past it. Not so un-commonly, many times it was the owners (myself included) confusing the dog. Simply put, it took knowing eyes to see the problem, and guidance to turn it around. Which is why this these two 'make the difference' you don't receive at many other facilities.Secondly, I have worked with Pam many many days, not only with my own dogs but those of others. To help me in my own training capabilities, and of course, additiional help for an 'In house trainee' dog that required adjustments to strangers and socialism. I have been allowed to watch clients in training, to viewing & teaching me the owner/handler and the dog perspective. I have experienced many hours of watching on the sideline, the private hours of both Pam and Ken, while they trained, worked, handled, or socialized many dogs, their iwn included. Through out the 26 years I have known, trained and boarded my animals with them, I have seen it all....I came to the conclusion, it is usually not the dog, or the breed, its the Owner. And many owners need more training than the dog. They Train both very well...and can spot a problem very quickly. They can also rectify the problems, if you accept the guidance. I continue to send people to them, and they are very pleased I turn send their friends. Now....I will make remark on two post I've just seen here.....never, never, in those 26 years did I ever see what you are claiming....However, In the 26 years, I did 'hear' similar ..... it was always a customer who wanted the training, or boarding - then didn't want to pay the bill. A few times, the dog was perfectly fine at training center, until the owner came in...definetly conclusive of abuse at home....Sad to say, eventually it was those abused dogs, that later, were 'offered', by owners, to return to Pam & Ken to "Please can you fix my dog and find it a good home"...or...."This dog just hates me"...or worse..."I just don't like this dog, I need a different kind of dog". Just saying.....I have been there when others were not, saw everything, and... I still take my dogs there and send many others. Thankyou

So here it is March 2013...Brought puppygirl back for her 2nd grooming; I am so GLAD I DID! This time Katia and I had a chance to talk a little and I asked for the spoiled 10lb. poodle/terrier (Humane Society rescue) to be cut specifically the way we like. Katia did a GREAT job! She looked absolutely PERFECT. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Plus, she was calm, resting and just matter of fact when I picked her up - she had been napping in the back...not locked up in a small wire cage and it only took a couple hours for her bath and haircut instead of the usual "in by 9 out by 5" all day schedule - I hate leaving her stuffed in a cage all day.My dog not only looked great, she smelled wonderful - not overly perfumed, just a nice scent - nothing offensive. She was (and remains now - almost 10 days later) soft... really soft, totally fluffy and her hair is so cool. I am going to have to ask Katia what she uses on the dog, it's really good!!!Never has she looked so terrific 10 days later... And I just love the way Katia and her helper Skylar takes care of my dog...she was so calm, so normal...not "crazed" after her grooming. I don't know what they do/did - but whatever it is - it sure works. Jossi Lu is my go-to place for my beloved puppygirl... Next time I'll take a picture and post it so you can see her cute haircut and adorable little self; she's small, but she has a big personality... I can't say this enough... I "fell over Jossi Lu" and thought I'd try them out... I liked what their website said and thought I'd take my dog there... Boy were we lucky! Allow me to assure you I am not paid or compensated whatsoever, what I've written is the straight scoop, I call it as I see it... I'm fussy when it comes to my dog! Take your pet and you will experience quality grooming and care for your pet first hand. I recommend Jossi Lu without reservation.

My sister Carol owns Boyken Kennel. Because I live in Florida I've never seen how she manages her kennel until these past few weeks during the Thanksgiving holiday when I was there for a visit. The first thing I saw was how well she took care of so many dogs and how she was so diligent with keeping their kennels clean, washed them daily so the dogs had a happy place to eat, play and sleep. During feeding time she took special care with each dog to be sure they were all well feed, every afternoon she went out to the kennel and gave them a biscut treat.....they all loved it. Because she has three dogs who will be with her for an extended visit she took them out of their individual kennel, even though they also have their own individual outside kennel area to play in, and let them run and smell and have a good time stretching their legs in her large fenced in areas, and she does this free of charge. I saw her taking special time with the dogs who were scared to be away from home or had behavior type issues. She did behavioral therapy as a courtesy with no extra charge unless a customer requested her teaching/training classes. She advertises that she is closed on Thursday and Sunday, however this doesn't mean she takes the day off because she still took 100% care of her guests. Customers were always arriving to either bring or pick up their dogs, and because she is very flexible she always stayed home to accomodate their schedules whether it was her closed days or not. I saw how her customers love her, almost everyone gave her hugs and some brought her holiday gifts, and the generous tips she was given was proof to me how they all were appreciative of the excellent and loving care she gave to what she calls, "their babies".

I disagree with Lisa and Friendlyreminders. I have been using her for almost two years now. I had gone first to a high end agility school. They did not know how to handle big working dogs. She does. My giant schnauzer is 2 1/2 years old and we just started competing in agility 5 months ago. Jazz has several titles and countless ribbons in agility.Her beating dogs I do not believe that. My girl loves her. In fact if she is on the field my girl runs to her for some loving when she needs to be working.She trains small to large dogs. Each dog is different and requires different training requirements. Is she tough and cusses like a sailor? Yes. That is just on the surface, really she is a sweetie. Do not wear your feeling on your shirt sleeves.If you can not get her to answer the phone, text her. She is busy cleaning the kennels, walking the dogs and training.If it had not been for Pam, Jazz and I would be at the level we are now.

LovePuppy2 Pet Sitting
used Lovepuppy2 Pet Sitting Service recently for several weeks when I was traveling around the U.S. Words cannot express my amazement of their service. I received more than I ever expected from a sitting service. It is very apparent they love dogs and cared for Picasso and much if not more than I would have. They daily would send me videos and photos of him - wow. They gave me a report card on him every few days. Picasso was just getting over and illness and they were very careful to monitor him. They have two grandchildren that gave Picasso lots of additional attention that from the videos, he loved very much. Again - I cannot express how much I am impressed with Cindy, her husband and their care for other individuals' pets (family member). And - to top it off - when I picked him up - they also offed a DVD of a considerable amount of tape of Picasso playing and having fun. Very impressive service.

Phenomenal trainers who understand dogs, both for agility and schutzhund. We have the gentlest German Shepherd who performs "bite work" on command only...and also tolerates our 4-year-old by allowing him the run of the house. Excellent breeders, trainers, and coaches that control their emotions so that the dogs get clear signals. We have learned so much from them over the years. And, yes, we do board our German Shepherd when we go on vacation. When we return to pick him up, he is never in a rush to leave "Camp Pam." The previous reviewer does not sound like she was a good fit for Canine Workshop--this is a serious place that trains working dogs, not house pets. For what she wanted, obedience school at Petsmart would suffice.

Pam is a great trainer. She is firm but not in a negative way. It is extremely hard work doing what she does and in addition to all the work she has nothing but love for animals. I board my dogs there as needed sometimes as long as a week or two and they always come back home happy and tired. Every time I get ready to head that way I look at my pups and say want to go see Pam... And they run to the door excited. Its an added bonus for the pups that she has property large enough to have several areas fenced in for the dogs to play in. And that's separate from the huge area she uses for training. Pam and her husband are wonderful and I am so glad to have found a place where I know my dogs are getting great care.

Bark And Purr
I have taken other dogs here before for grooming and the service is always good, however I have a very difficult Schnauzer that I frankly was scared to take anywhere for grooming because of his unpredictability. Wow, I took him in today for a sanitary shave and a bath and he was completely fine. Max, is a magician. I was thrilled with the results and the concern and kindness of the staff. I think this is the best grooming facility in Dallas. Don't tell anyone, but I would have been willing to pay far more than what was charged. Thank you, Minerva, Max and staff.

AMAZING customer service that you don't find everyday. Look here first for what you might find at a big box pet store -- you'll not only find high-quality products, from top pet foods to toys to pet bedding -- but unique items, like uniquely crafted pet collars. If you have a special need, they'll special order it for you, and one of the owners even texted me photos of their dog sweaters so I could have it sent to me, rather than have to drive an hour to get there. That being said, a trek to Lucky Dog Barkery is worth the drive for anyone living in North Texas. Go!

Grooming Table
An Experience with Grooming Table :) NiƱa is a lot more engaged with what is going on and a lot more responsive to me since her grooming. Thanks. On a scale of 1-10, a 10. It might seem strange, and maybe Osbourne is getting spoiled, but recently prior to her grooming Osbourne had little interest in hanging out with her, but now he does like hanging out with her. In the past they have always got along great together though, but I guess now that Osbourne has gotten groomed regularly he expects more from other dogs or something.
Tips & Advices
Pets that do not get along with other animals may incur an additional fee. Some facilities have special solitary sleeping and play animals for these types of pets.
A checklist for what to bring to a pet kennel includes:
  • Vaccination records
  • A favorite toy or blanket
  • Food and feeding instructions (if the pet has dietary restrictions or is a picky eater)
  • Medication (if necessary, in its original bottle and with written instructions)
Some pet kennels have veterinarians as part of their daily staff, while others only have vets part time or on call.
Most kennels can provide basic care such as administering medications, but owners of pets with serious medical issues should choose a facility with a veterinarian on call.
Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, is highly contagious, and most dogs catch it at least once in their lifetimes. As such, all dogs should be vaccinated at least 7 days before boarding.
