Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Crown Point
Generally speaking it's a good hospital. My mom worked there for 22 years prior to retiring. I had to stay one weekend there for a broken knee and received good treatment. My dad didn't get such good treatment on one visit to the ER. He fell earlier that day and was so weak he could hardly walk. I called 911 because I couldn't help him to the car. The ER doc said they wouldn't send him home until he could walk. They sent him home anyways and I had to have an ambulance take him home, which came out of his pocket. That was Christmas Eve. I had to take him back two days later and he spent a few days in the hospital. When he got the bill for the ambulance I tried to fight it and I got rejected. The "investigation" stated there as no wrong doing on the part of the ER doctor so that ER doctor, or someone, lied. I was utterly shocked and disappointed.

Hayes Family Chiropractic
I first started seeing for sciatica pain that kept me awake at night. After as few as 3 chiropractic adjustments and orthotics for my shoes, my pain was 90% less. This year I have had an extremely stressful year. For no reason at all, I got a sudden herniated disc in my lower back. My pain level was comparable to labor pains. Dr. Diane gave me acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments and I was virtually pain free after 3 treatments.

My pain started 10 years ago. The diagnosis was arthritis. Have had MRI's, x-rays, physical therapy, nerves burned, sought treatment for TMJ, and tried Raiki. I was ready to give up and accept this pain would be a part of the rest of my life. Then my friend recommended Hayes for acupuncture. Best decision of my life!

I started coming here while I was pregnant. The care I received got me through a very uncomfortable pregnancy and made me a firm believer in the power of chiropractic. My son is almost three but I still come in for care at least once a month and in between if I feel like I need it. Dr. Chris is like a magician for my back problems. He practices "BACK MAGIC!"

I have come a long way since coming to Hayes about 6 years ago. I initially came because I could hardly move, I couldn't even pick up my 6 month old. The care I have received from both doctors is superb and I have only had a few flare-ups the entire time. I have also scheduled massages to help keep my back in good shape and relieve stress. A fantastic family oriented small town office with top notch care!

Have been coming to see Dr. Hayes for 2 years. The doctors and staff are extremely generous during every visit. Dr. Hayes is very passionate about her work, as is Dr. C. It makes the visits pleasant and I look forward to future appointments.
Tips & Advices
An osteopathic physician practices a comprehensive form of medicine that takes a holistic approach to a person's health. Instead of specializing in one system or set of organs, an osteopathic specialist focuses on the health of the total body. This includes evaluating environmental factors that affect a person's well-being.
Many family doctors deliver babies, especially in rural areas without a nearby OB/GYN. However, most family doctors only deliver for low-risk pregnancies and do not perform cesarean sections.
Family nurse practitioners are highly educated nurses able to provide medical care individually or with the assistance of another professional. Family nurse practitioners obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then take the National Council Licensure Examination to begin working as a registered nurse. Then, they continue their education and obtain a Master of Science in Nursing. Following that, they become certified in family practice via the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, allowing them to become certified family nurse practitioners.
Some family doctors provide immunizations while others do not. Typically, doctors who work as part of a large practice are more likely to offer vaccines in-house. Doctors in offices of one to two physicians are more likely to refer patients to a public health department or other immunization provider.
A physician's assistant is a person qualified to perform routine medical services. This individual is professionally licensed and certified, but they may not have the extensive med school education of a doctor. That said, PAs do complete almost three years of postgraduate study and more than 2,000 hours of rotations.
