I have been to this clinic several times and was treated well.... Until one day I called to ask a question to the receptionist about a prescription I received there before. The receptionist must have requested to doctor to personally answer the question. When the doctor answered the phone, her tone was clearly agitated and in a great hurry. The receptionist must not have told her of my inquiry, because she didn't know why I was on the phone. I began to tell her and she promptly cut me off and LOUDLY, almost yelling, spoke over my voice to tell me to "CUT THIS STORY AND GET TO THE POINT". I stopped and restated quickly just the point of my call and she again spoke loudly over my voice and said, "THIS IS A MINOR EMERGENCY CLINIC, I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!" I apologized quickly and asked if should i call back? She never listened to anything I said because she answered me saying, "I dont have time for this. Are you a patient here?" I only said "Yes" and she snapped back, "What did you say to me??" She was so rude and abrupt that I felt humiliated; like a small child who got caught stealing. In the end she wouldn't even answer my question. She said I needed to come in to answer my question. Basically, I need to pay the co-pay for her to take the time to answer my question. Wow, talk about the bottom dollar being the most important. I have no idea why she was so rude, but it was enough to ruin my entire morning and I will never go back and I will never recommend this place again.

I am 64 years old and have been seeing Dr. J.J. Carr for 7 years now, while my wife has been seeing his wife, Dr. Lana Carr. The medical care is excellent and if I need to be seen right away for some reason, they can normally have me come in the same or next day.The most outstanding aspect of this physician practice group is that the waiting time is the smallest I have ever known! On my last visit, for example, I was in the exam room about 4 minutes after my appointment time and Dr. Carr came in less than a minute later. This is very typical of his practice, because he allows enough time to listen to patients. I think the few times I have had to wait more than 30 minutes was due to patients that did not have a prior appointment but needed to be seen urgently.

I've been to several urgent care clinics in town and they were filthy. I'll never forget waiting in an exam room at one of the other clinics in town and there were dead roaches in a little pile in the corner. This place is new, clean and very well decorated. I've been there a few times for myself and with my family and we've seen the nurse practitioner and doctor. Both of them are friendly and know their stuff. We were there yesterday and they had a full house, but we got to watch TV while we waited in the exam room. I don't know of any other clinics that have TVs in the exam rooms. We love it there and we'll keep going back.

I LOVE THIS DR.. He listens, he is attentive, he checks and double checks. He listened to me about pain and other symptoms and sent me to a specialist. It turns out I had a fairly serious autoimmune disease, other Dr blowing me off has allowed for permanent damage. I would not have been diagnosed correctly if it was not for Dr Carr. He gave me so much back, by being an awesome Dr. If I call in the morning with an issue some always get back to me. If I need to get in, they have same day appointments. .

My experience was great. Paramedic, David assisted me with gathering details on my symptoms of a viral stomach infection. He was very kind, professional and I nervous when he was giving me an IV, made sure I was comfortable/distracted with conversation to help me from fainting and fear of needle. Very gentle, no bruising and got it right the first time. Very knowledgeable and kind staff. Plus they offer free gifts in front which I am still using. (Pen, antibacterial gel, chap-stick, band-aids etc.)

Went in on New Years Eve morning. The clinic is clean and organized. I only waited about an hour to be seen. Even though I have insurance, I have not met the high deductible so, the office visit fee I paid out of pocket was reasonable. Would go back and I rate this place number one compared to other clinics I have visited in Corpus Christi.

I have been a patient here for many years. The staff are very friendly and I have liked the doctors I have seen. They recently added an optical shop. Mr. Layton sold me the best pair of eyeglasses I have ever had. Its amazing what a difference a well fitting frame and nice lenses do for your vision.

In the past in Corpus I have struggled with long waits and inatentive doctors. Therefore, I found TLC to be refreshingly attentive, quick and thorough. I don't usually post, but I had to respond becuase i totaly disagree with this person's review
Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
