VCA Animal Hospital
After reading the other reviews, I have to say that I was apprehensive about taking my cat and her newborn kittens in to the VCA Oso Creek hospital. HOWEVER, I had a surprisingly great experience with them. My cat had kittens two days ago. Last night they were fine. Mewing and moving around. Momma was taking care of them. This morning, everything went downhill. Momma kitty was bleeding. The kittens were lethargic. I called around and got referred here. The girls in the front were very efficient and friendly. The tech who saw us first was thorough and pleasant and the vet was really awesome. She answered all of my questions, was sympathetic to my situation and the fee charged for my visit was totally reasonable. I would definitely suggest this clinic to anyone who needs help with their cats.

Southside Animal Hospital
Service is friendly, quality of work is very good, and the pricing is excellent. An example of the service there: One of my dogs had a cough, so I took her in. The appointment only took about 15 minutes, so the vet told the staff to only charge me half of the appointment fee. The vets are definitely not there for the money, and their prices are an obvious indication. If you're looking for a vet, I recommend giving them a call and asking about the price for whatever you need. I also had my doberman's ears clipped there and they've turned out great (only cost me $220, too).

Everhart Animal Hospital
I have been using Dr Lora Pigott since 1994 when she had her own practice in Austin. I have followed her since because she is the most knowledgeable vet that I have ever met and I worked in the field for 15 years. She has a loyal follwoing of a lot of high end dog and cat breeders that travel from all over to see her. I am sure that the other vets are just as awesome. If you want to have your pets taken care of, have fun and have the vet remember every detail of your pets record by memory, visit Dr Pigott!!!

I wanted to give this review because I really appreciate this clinic and Dr. Garett for the excellent job with my dog, Pascal. She wanted to write a review but is too busy playing and doing dog-stuff right now.My dog is extremely aggressive at the vet, which makes it impossible to examine her. But where there's a will there's a way. He was able to get everything done, safely and promptly.I'll be honest the odds are not in our favor, but she is doing alot better thanks to her doctor and his team.

Everhart Animal Hospital
Great clinic. They are very compassionate and always put the dog first. After our oldest dog was sent home from our long-time vet with nothing but terminal cancer diagnosis, my father suggested Dr. Garret. He and Dr. Piggot were both honest, but also kind and supportive. Shots and recommendations for food, etc. helped give our dog 5 more happy months when others said he had less than a month. They have been our vets for two years now and by far the best we've ever had!

Doddridge Animal Clinic
I have been taking my dogs and cats to Dr. Rasco or one of his other veterinarians for over 21 years. He and his staff are great, very caring and through. His prices are reasonable and they always work us in when we have had emergencies. We used to live within a couple of miles but now live about 10 miles away. We continue to use Doddridge Animal Hospital for all of our animals. We have total confidence in and highly recommend Doddridge to all of our friends.

Everhart Animal Hospital
We have been bringing our dogs here for 21 years. We have owned seven or eight dogs from pedigree to mutts and Dr. Garret has been there for all of them. We have not been to other Vets in Corpus Christi so I can't make a comparison. I can just say that I have never had any reason or desire to go anywhere else with my dogs. I have never had any issues with the staff. I've seen them on good days and bad days. I bring my dogs there for the dogs first.

Padre Animal Hospital
Dr. Heaton is a good vet. The staff know what they are doing. They have always given me good recommendations when dealing with my boxer's allergies, weight issues, etc. They are a very busy facility, but that's because they are good. If you wait on hold a few minutes, they have not forgotten you. It would be worth your while to hold on that line! Mary Rohde, owned by her 2 Boxers and her horse :) (my horse Dr. Heaton sees also!)

Southside Animal Hospital
I live in Minnesota yet my veterinary clinic is Southside Animal Hospita in Corpus Christi. We visit Texas once a year and always schedule our pets' vaccines and other treatments for that time. The staff is very professiona and accommodatingl and their services are reasonably priced. I am retired and living on a fixed income now so that aspect is greatly appreciated.

Tejas Veterinary Clinic
I wouldn't take my pets anywhere but Tejas. Dr Rob Perkins is gentle and caring with my older dog. He takes the time to,work with her and accurately diagnose her health problems. This really matters as she is our baby and we love her like a child. I drive 45 minutes each direction to see Dr. Perkins and I've is worth every second of the trip.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
