Air Design
RUN!!! This company is HORRIBLE and we think they sabotaged our outside units. Our main floor AC went out during 100° weather and they were contracted through AHW to come fix it. They said it was the compressor so they fix it in a reasonable time frame. Then not 2 weeks later the AC is not working on our top floor and lookie there it's the compressor on another unit. We went out of town and once back in town it was difficult to schedule them to return to fix it. So they were out last night from 5:30pm-7:40pm after I was told 12-4 window and when I called at 4pm was told 30 more mins then called again at 5pm and told 10 more mins. So we finally had heat upstairs and woke up the next morning to NO HEAT downstairs...... REALLY!?!?! Then when I call Air Design to complain I'm on hold for 11 mins then explain that I don't have heat on my main floor and they were just out the night before and the I wonder if the techs know what they are doing or sabotaging our units. The receptionist yells, yes yells, back at me "We do not do that. You need to call your insurance and schedule with them so they can approve us to come fix it." Unacceptable! If you break it you fix it at no cost to me. I'm also disappointed in AHW that they would associate themselves with such a horribly unprofessional and incompetent company. It says a lot about both companies. Looking elsewhere.

Buffington Burns Electric Inc
I called to report a drug user there at Burington and they still have the employee working there. Isn't it suppose to be a drug free work place. I fear for my husband life with this person still working there. What can I do next?

Taylor Built Construction
Poor customer service after they built my "custom" home. Going on 9 months and serval issues still not resolved. Josh Teat will not return my phone calls or reply to my emails. He has made promises to repair in the past but has done nothing.

I will NEVER use this company again. I only used them because they were the company that installed my heating/air into my new home so I thought they would be the best suited for the job. After I ended up paying $160 and the guy tracked mud all through my house (of which I had to purchase carpet cleaner and clean several times just to get out), I am just completely disappointed with these people. The first time I called them to tell them of my problem I knew they were not professional. It sounded like a guy answering his cell phone with bad reception. They were supposed to come out on a Thursday late afternoon. I called them on Thursday afternoon to make sure they were still coming. The guy said he had no record of it, but would send someone out. When the guy got there, he told me my system was frozen. He then said that his boss said he thought he told me to turn the system off (Ummm...NO, he didn't tell me that, because if he would've, I would've turned it off asap!!!). So.....this company will NEVER get my business again. A total waste of money and such unprofessionalism. If I ever have an issue with my system again I'll call someone local....that way I at least won't have to pay some ridiculous fee for travel.

Lee's Heating & Air Conditioning
Johnny RDealing with these people was a terrible mistake. Fast shabby work with no knowledge of how to fix their own mistakes. No way to contact the owner. He hides behind the employees. I could have saved hundreds of dollars and weeks of headaches if I had used a competent company. They invested in a great web page just to deceive the innocent public. Wish there was a zero star,.

Lee's Heating & Air Conditioning
There seems to be some issue with this company where different members of the family seem to be running it during different years under the same name. About 5 years ago one of the sons was managing the company and did a decent job of replacing the HVAC unit but then I gave him some money for a small job and he took the money and never completed the job. It was only around $150 dollars so I did not follow up in small claims court. Several months ago I saw an older couple get out of the Lee truck at a supply store and I asked them about the money being taken and they stated it must have been one of their sons and they were not surprised. No offer from them to resolve the issue.

Electrical Service Professionals Inc
My home warranty program sent these guys over to check out a tripped circuit on 5-8-13. We had previously had a leak in our house and were concerned about the mix of water and electricity. David and his coworker were very professional, friendly, and respectful. They wore covers over their boots in my home without being asked. They fixed the problem and looked to make sure there were no other lingering issues. I wish every experience with a contractor was this pleasant and easy. I would definitely hire these guys for bigger jobs if I had the work to offer them. We haven't had any electrical issues since they've left, but if we can I will be hiring this crew again. You can rest easy if you've selected this company.
Tips & Advices
Keep the following tips in mind:
  • Do not operate any electrical equipment while sitting or standing in water.
  • Don't overload extension cords or surge protectors.
  • Put caps on your electrical outlets if you have small children.
  • Call an electrician if you notice your sockets or switches are warm to the touch, discolored or if they make noise.
  • Keep electrical cords away from stoves, ovens and other sources of heat.
  • Do not use an appliance that has a frayed cord.
  • Do not staple extension cords into place or cover them with carpets or furniture.
  • When using extension cords, make sure to unwrap them before plugging them in.
  • Don't overuse extension cords. Have an electrician install extra outlets if you need a power source closer to you.
  • Only use light bulbs with the correct wattage for your lamps and light fixtures.
  • Contact a licensed electrician if you frequently blow fuses, since this can be a sign of an electrical wiring problem.
  • Have an electrician look at your fuse box to ensure you have the right size fuses and circuit breakers. The wrong size fuse or breaker can be a fire hazard.
  • If you have fault circuit interrupters installed in your electrical panel, make sure you test them at least once a month by turning them on and off.
It can cost from $40-$100 an hour depending on the job. This does not include additional costs for parts or trip fees. Make sure to ask in advance what they charge for or if they will provide a free quote.
In order to become a full-fledged professional, a person must undergo an apprenticeship with master and journeyman electricians. An apprentice needs 8,000 hours of practical work before graduating to the journeyman level. If an apprentice reaches journeyman status, he or she can complete most electrical work, but cannot design it until completing more testing along with 2,000 more on-the-job hours.
Yes. While all electricians need a license, not all of them do the same types of jobs.
  • Outside: These types of electricians work outdoors on electrical lines that connect to power plants.
  • Inside: Inside experts typically focus on commercial and industrial buildings that require a lot of power.
  • Residential: Residential electricians work with low-voltage systems and wiring to install fuse boxes and light fixtures.
Watch out for contractors that greatly underbid other electricians. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also, always remember to get the estimate in writing before settling on a company.
