Floor Coverings International
First impressions are most important in future dealings with any business or company. Chris Harnden was our first contact with FCI and his warmth and friendliness made us feel that we were dealing with the right company for our new rugs. All further contacts with FCI were handled in the same way.....friendly and knowledgeable. We were notified of any changes or delays with an apology for having to do so. The carpet layers came when they said they would and stayed until they were finished. They did a beautiful job and I love the look of my new carpets. Thank you FCI for a job well done and a special thanks to our new friend, Chris

I love the detailed explanations throughout the whole decision making process. As first time homeowners, we have never gone through a flooring project. Bryan was very interactive, helpful, and gave us great information on the timing of the materials. FCI communicated very well with us regarding the materials arrival and the timing of completion, which was very volatile because this was during the Christmas and New Years holiday.

Tile Artist
Dimitre is a very detailed, skillful artist and contractor. He measures, checks his level tool, and measures again, then he cuts the tiles to perfection. He wants each bathroom he works on to be perfect. Even with imperfections like poor shower drain plumbing installated a few days earlier, a bowing ceiling, and unlevel walls, he was still able to put together a beautiful shower. He has been extremely patient with me as I changed the design slightly, and I didn't have enough materials for him like I promised. He also keeps me informed with everything going on in the bathroom and asks for my decisions on how he should proceed with the structural imperfections, etc. He is thoughtful and honest. If it was another tile installer they could have installed my tile, taken the check, and not cared that the tub plumbing was installed improperly because of the faulty installation by Benicia Plumbing. Now we are waiting for Benicia Plumbing to come out and fix their mistake which has my bathroom remodel tile work at a standstill.I will update how it turns out.

We got our engineered hardwood and our carpet from here, and had an AMAZING experience! We appreciated the honest information and guidance. We loved that there was no pressure, and that the staff was extremely knowledgeable about all the products. We really did our research in the area, and there is nowhere better in price, quality, or customer service!

The Floor Store
We would also like to commend the father and son team who handled the installation: Steve and Anthony. Their work ethic is beyond reproach, their skills absolutely first rate. If we asked for any extra attention to details, such as removing marks or smudges or touching up with paint, they never questioned our concerns and always went the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. Thanks, guys." John K. H.

I went here for my carpet needs last year, and I was immediately greeted by an enthusiastic salesperson. They gave me my space, and there was no pressure. All of my questions were answered, and it was very smooth. Selena G.
Tips & Advices
In most states, contractors are required to have a license before taking a job. Some states also require registration. To be licensed, contractors must pass an exam and meet certain qualifications that prove he or she is a competent flooring contractor. Registration is simply a list of who will be performing a job.
The time it takes to install flooring depends on the type of flooring and the size of the room or rooms involved in the project. In one day, a typical contractor can usually install up to 2,000 square feet of carpet, 600 square feet of hardwood or laminate, or 400 square feet of tile or stone.
  • Do you have a professional license, insurance, and a business liability policy?
  • Who will work on the project?
  • Do you subcontract, and do you screen workers and have insurance policies to cover them?
  • Do you have references or examples of your work I can see?
  • Do you charge for an in-home estimate?
  • What type of flooring is best for my home in terms of architectural consistency, environmental influences (such as whether a certain type of flooring will be affected by humidity in my area), and durability?
Legally, insurance is not necessary, but it's a good idea for flooring contractors to have it. When hiring a flooring contractor, ask whether the business is insured. If it's not, consider that a red flag.
A flooring contractor should know the pros and cons of each flooring option. These might include pricing, time of installation, durability, and average lifespan of the material.
