YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.
Animal Shelters in Columbus, OH

The Cat Welfare Association was founded in 1945 by a small group of people who saw the need for an organization designed specifically to help the many stray and abused cats in the Columbus area. We are a non-profit organization that's objective has always been to promote better care and understanding of cats while providing for the physical welfare of homeless cats and kittens. The cats taken into our care are strays and frequently have been abused or injured. We give them plenty of tender loving care along with any necessary medical treatment they might need. Our shelter provides a home for these cats and kittens until they are adopted-- whether it be for a short time or if they live out the rest of their lives in our shelter.

Not only have I done volunteer work with Pets Without Parents, I also got two of my cats from them. I find the owner, Amy, to be very sincere in what she does. I have seen her go way beyond what most shelters would do to help pets find a good home. They are one of the very few "No Kill" shelters in the area. When ever I hear of someone looking for a pet, I send them to Pets Without Parents. The animals are well taken care of and their medical needa are taken care of immediately.

One more thing to consider if your in the process of selecting a dog trainer, please do not discount the fact that your dog needs to be treated well while out of your care and some trainers may just look at your dog as just another number, but not with Joey, he will interact with you as if you were family and treat your dog as if it was his very own. I just moved back to Columbus and the first thing I did was drop Brooklyn off for a little touch up training as well as sit down with Joey to pick out my next dog which will be a Rottweiler. There is no one I trust more than Joey and Ohio State K-9 to select our breeder as well as train my dogs. Joey you are the best my man and thanks for all of the hard work and dedication that you put forth for all of us dog lovers!

Just so people are knowledgeable and not misinformed. Euthanasia solution is not battery acid. It is the same sedative that veterinarians use to anesthetize animals for surgical procedures at a more concentrated dose. It puts animals in an unconscious sleep state long before it stops the heart and respiratory systems. There is no pain or agony. If a vein cannot be used for IV, IP (abdominal), or IC (cardiac) injections are used. IC is almost instantly fatal and IP is quickly absorbed by mucus membranes and takes 10-15 mins max. This is done by veterinary clinics across the country not just shelters. It is a DEA controlled substance which has strict federal regulations and must only be used by a licensed veterinary professional or euthanasia technician. BTW it is more profitable for animals to be adopted to loving homes at $100 a piece than to spend the money to euthanize. Have a nice day.

I have adopted several cats from this shelter. Shelter staff is always professional and they go out of their way to take in as many adult cats and kittens as they can given they are a no-kill shelter. I always recommend Cozy Cat as the first call to anyone who is looking to adopt or find a home for a cat.

I've never seen a more loving group of people care for animals. They try to find them loving homes. But better than that they take the sick, the injured, and unwanted or homeless animals and give them as much as they can and work very hard to get the all the animals well then give the as much love as they can until a home is found. This group of people deserve all the praise possible. Thank you.
