Aptive Environmental
When you hire Aptive Environmental, you pay for only one visit per quarter, but you get as many visits as it takes during that quarter to rid your home or yard of pests. Also, Aptive does this with skill, knowledge, and friendliness. For example, on his recent quarterly visit, an Aptive employee treated our property for pests, including a hornet’s nest located in a retaining wall and a carpenter-ant infestation in our shed. We were very happy with his work. However, we then discovered that the hornets had returned and the ants hadn’t left. Therefore, two days later, Aptive sent over a manager -- Joe Williamson -- to re-treat our property. Mr. Williamson took apart the rocks in the retaining wall where the hornets were nesting, dug up and removed some hornet embryos, treated the entire area with chemicals, and then carefully reassembled the rocks back into the wall. Similarly, with regard to the ant infestation, Mr. Williamson not only sprayed the ants with a chemical, but he also removed the cardboard boxes from the shed in which the ants had made a nest, separated out the ruined contents from the usable contents in the boxes, and then hauled away both the ruined boxes and their ruined contents from our property. By the way, although Mr. Williamson used different chemicals for the hornets and the ants, both kinds of chemicals work by having the individuals that are sprayed return to their nests and re-infect everyone else there. In this way, the entire colony is destroyed. I want to commend both Active Environmental and Joe Williamson for their fine work.

Alterra Pest Control
Cody H. called letting me know what time he would arrive, and was right on time. He was prompt and courteous and completed the job in the allotted time. Cody explained the services to me clearly and answered my questions - making my wife feel at ease that the treatment was pet safe as my dogs like to eat the grass and plants around the perimeter of my house. Not every tech that comes to your home makes you feel comfortable and confident that they will do a great job. Cody H. is a tech you can really rely on, job well done.

Tyler Brady took time to lift rocks and logs that are in my flower bed to check for ants. He found some on to logs that were turned into birdhouses and took care of them. He also reminded me that if needed they would come back out free of charge. I had forgotten, but will take advantage if need be. Thank you Aptive for being the professional business that you are and for taking care of my bug problem. I have no sign of Japanese beetles or stink bugs since the first treatment. Alterra Pest Control about outstanding customer service! Cody came to my house tonight to take care of a yellow jacket problem. He was outstanding. Not only did he take care of the problem and more, he came at 7:45 in the evening when he was already on his way home. He drove all the way back to our town. They are coming back tomorrow to make sure the problem is taken care of when they do a quarterly treatment. With this kind of .service I will be a customer for a long time. Thanks Cody, for making my home safe.

Alterra Pest Control
We just received our first pest control treatment today - my wife and I were sold on the environmentally and kid friendly formulas Alterra uses. Our awesome technician, Bryce P came out today and thoroughly explained the process before he began. He was detailed in the treatment and we went through the steps he took after all was complete. I hope all techs are as friendly and knowledgeable as Bryce, and we look forward to our home and outdoor spaces to be bug free!

I'm writing a review for Alex Adell. The Cleveland link reviews were not up on the site, which is why I'm writing on the Columbus location. Please forward on to him. Alex arrived right on time, explained what he was going to do and went right to work. He listened to my concerns about the ant and wasp problem we've been having. He gave me a new, heavy duty ant trap for inside the house as well. I appreciate the time he took to go over everything! Thanks again Alex!

Tony Aulette treated the inside of our home for the first time. I had concerns about indoor treatment because of my baby and pet but he explained everything very well and set my mind at ease. He couldn't have been nicer and more professional. We have recently been approached by other companies but won't even take their calls because of the excellent and effective service that we receive from Alterra. Thank you for having all around great customer service!

Tyrone Ferguson did a great job of explaining what he was doing and allowed me to watch him while doing so. Tyrone sprayed around outside of house and treated yard with insecticide. He inspected eaves and exterior windows for nests, webs or egg sacs He also applied barrier treatment around the foundation, granular spot treatment to my front/back lawn, spot treatment to eaves and around doors for crawling and flying pest activity. Thanks Tyrone!
Tips & Advices
Fumigation is dangerous to pets and humans. Liquid termicides, however, are safe to use around pets.
No. Because termite infestations are considered preventable, most home insurance policies do not cover treatments or damage.
It's best to treat an entire home to ensure the termite infestation is completely eliminated. Spot treating costs less, but increases the likelihood of missed colonies. In addition, spot treatments can make a home unattractive to future buyers.
The cost to eliminate termites varies depending on the method. Bait costs between $150-$300, while fumigation costs $1,300-$2,500. Heat treatment costs around $1 per square foot, so a 2,500 square-foot home would cost $2,500.
The length of time depends on the process used:
  • Fumigation takes approximately five days. The termites die quickly, but homeowners must remain out of the house until the chemicals clear.
  • Bait exterminations can take months to destroy an entire colony. The bait kills termites during the molting process. If an insect eats the bait and does not molt, it is unaffected.
  • Heat extermination takes approximately eight hours and is environmentally friendly. This process heats the home to 150 degrees F.
