Columbia Auto Center
One day I needed breaks and just decided, you know what, I' m tired of hating my auto place or just going to one because its close. I end up feeling totally taken advantage of and broke because my bill was so high. So I decided I was going to go to about 10 different auto places to see what each one said was wrong with my brakes, what the solution would was and what the cost would be.After listing to outrageous prices and recommended additions that only raised my price the last one I ended up at was Columbia Auto Center. I expected they would be like the 9 auto places before them so I was already on guard. The mechanic looked at my car immediately. He said " you need new brakes and I'll have to shave the rotors". I told him others said I need them replaced, but he told me they were fine and just needed to be shaved so there was no need to pay extra to get new ones.I learned something new that day... In my excitement I totally forgot the name of the place But when I needed my brakes done again its all I could think about. I drove around and found them again, and once again received EXCELLENT service. This time my windshield wipers stopped working, and while I was there I knew I might as well get my brakes done since they did them last time and gave me such a great price... There was also a noise every time I turned my wheel. The service and knowledgeable staff make everything a great experience. Everyone is friendly and willing to assist, which I find rare now a days...On my second trip, Kevin greeted me with a smile and opened the door. He answered all my questioned, listened to me ramble on about how I found the solution to fix the car on the internet. Kevin immediately looked at my car. He was really knowledgeabe,, he didn't recommended anything I didn't need and even found me a few coupons which made the price wayyyy lower than I thought it would be. Like I said, I always felt, that as a female, the auto shops were trying to get over on me but this place never tries to do that. They don't over charge me. They don't think of extra things to try and bring up the price and they are FAST!! I'm officially a lifetime member and will taking my car to Columbia Auto Center for everything.

Engine Menders
OK, this is going to be a long review, but these guys are TOTALLY worth it, so here goes. This is a no frills shop. I personally don't care if there is free coffee and ESPN on in the lobby because that means I am paying for it in my bill on the end. It is what you expect from a mechanic shop. Everyone I met or spoke to was courteous and knowledgeable and all answered my MANY questions (I drove Shane crazy with questions, even though he won't admit I did). Shane sourced the best and cheapest place for the parts I needed, and my bill was less, not more, than he quoted. Let me state we have a 2008 Ford F150 which is problematic, to say the least (Google it, god knows it's a horrible year for bugs on this truck), and none of the MANY other shops we took it to would listen when I said, "by the way, the wheel is wobbling. 5 shops (including some very big chain stores) have said it is fine , can you take a look?" Lo and behold, we had a bent axle. Potential for a dangerous accident as well as thousands of dollars in rear end damage, and they saw it and fixed it. They fixed MY screw up (I won't be washing that engine again), and did it all with a smile. Shane called me and kept me updated at every turn. That alone is priceless. Don't you hate it when the shop has your vehicle that you NEED and they say they'll call and they don't, and then you have to call them and they act like it's a inconvenience to them? Well, that didn't happen here. All in all, I LOVE these guys, and they have my business as long as they are in business and I will recommend them until I am blue in the face. I am cross posting this on Yelp and everywhere else I can find! :) Thanks to the entire team at Engine Menders/Body Menders. Much love and respect! -April Hughes

Tim's Auto Service
Blessed , Got our SUV XL7 Van , back today!Tim's Auto Repair, Columbia , SCFather Tim Sr. & two Sons , Tim Jr. & JustinGreat family auto shop - they were knowledgeable and found a good matching transmission to replace our obsolete one. We feel they were honest and communicated openly about doing this big repair job! We had considered selling the car for salvage at one point before speaking to Tim Sr,Very reliable, & true to his words... The owner , Tim Sr,, went out of his way to pick up a transmission for us . He himself drove to Myrtle Beach 4 hrs away and found be that was a perfect match !Unfortunately the guys at the auto parts in Myrtle Beach , SC weren't delivering a compatible transmission on our own timeline in getting back to Miami , so Tim Sr. Drove himself to pick this up and brought back himself to Columbia, SCWe all live in Miami and very appreciative that he drive the 4 hrs to help us get it in time then worked all day Saturday so we could be headed back home.. We would recommend this family, owned and operated repair shop without hesitation !

Engine Menders
About two weeks ago my fiancé and I were headed to Charleston from Charlotte to get married! Of course on the way down, my car decided to quit on us. I knew it was the transmission! We had the car towed from where we broke down to Engine Mender. We were nervous about bringing the car to a place we have never been to but we were beyond thankful that we found this place. The owners are so down to earth and friendly. The staff was very helpful and communicated with us constantly. My car took about a week to fix and when I picked it up the staff took time to go over everything with us. Having a transmission replaced is a big deal and can be stressful if you’re not familiar with the mechanics. I am so confident they did above and beyond. My car runs so smoothly now. I am so appreciative for their services and would ABSOLUTELY recommend Engine Menders to anyone in Columbia or surrounding areas.

Champion Automotive
Dont forget to ask for your reciept. This place hates giving anything in writing to customers. The stars given on this review are for the mechanics. The owners however are very rude. I dont not reccomend this shop solely because of how nasty and unprofessional the owners are. And all because i asked for a reciept because their cc machine does not work and they charged my account 2x for $2000 each time. They were able ti fix the issue however they flipped when i requested a receipt for the services i paid for. They told me i was being difficult and that they should have charged me more. I was shocked of how rude they were after i paid. I never write reviews but after that horrible personal experience with this shop I need to warn others. Worst customer service I've experienced in general.

Engine Menders
Engine Menders is the world's best auto shop! They are family owned here in Columbia, and are dedicated, honest, and automechanic geniuses!!! The kind of place that makes me realize I can never leave Columbia, because I couldn't find another place that compares! They've had the same mechanics working there for as long as I've been going there, they truly care about their customers individually, and have kept my 250,000 mile car going and going and going! They also do awesome high performance work too. They work on all types of cars and trucks, no job too big or little, old or new! : ) Now my whole family takes their cars there... Shane, Matt, Chris, Amber, and the rest are awesome!!! (The other reviewer is right, they really do treat you like family!)

Engine Menders
Engine Menders is deserving of the highest recommendation that I, as a client, am able to bestow upon them. I brought my 2003 PT Cruiser in after being informed by another car shop that I needed a new Coolant pump replacement which can be a costly procedure. Engine Menders under the supervision of Shane, properly diagnosed the issue my car was experiencing . Engine Menders was very meticulous in their diagnostic procedure(s) and got my car back to running the way it should be. I would also be remiss in not mentioning "KT", the customer service Rep who is" par for the course" when it comes to establishing a positive environment. Very professional and knowledgeable crew at Engine Menders. Nuff Said.

Suddeth's Automotive Inc
I know that title may seem a bit over the top BUT after years of feeling taken by automotive Co I feel very skittish to say the least. My son goes to USC so I was calling Suddeth's based on YP reviews well I was so pleased Frank was kind and very aware of the fact that I'm a mom wanting my sons car safe so he focused on the safety aspects first namely the brakes and he went from there. I am not usually given into "site unseen" service but Frank explained everything and I feel like I finally found an automotive station that does great work for a great price without all the worry. Thanks guys!

Palmetto Wholesale Auto Sales
I just purchased a nice Tahoe from Todd Epperson at Palmetto Wholesale. Got a great deal on the car. I even shopped the local papers and online. Todd beat the others prices by more than $1,000.00. Car was clean and in great condition. Todd even pointed out 2 flaws I didnt even see. The owner was present all three times I visited the lot and gave me a free GPS system after the deal was done!!! I dont usually buy from car lots, but I now have a new outlook. Thanks for the great car Todd, Bobby, and George... I will be back for the next one

Beckett's Auto Center
This place is great!! All of the staff from the secretary, to the mechanics, to the owner are polite and helpful. Every time I have gotten any work done here I have spent MUCH less than any other shop would charge me. From getting my oil changed to tires to getting my AC serviced over the summer, all the work has been done professionally and timely! As a female, I never feel pressured to purchase a service because their techs only recommend the services that are needed. HONEST, PROFESSIONAL, GREAT EXPERIENCE.
Tips & Advices
The location of a vehicle can be monitored during transport. Many auto transport companies offer tracking services that allow for monitoring a car's journey via their website. If a company doesn't offer online tracking, an owner can receive updates on the vehicle's progress and location by calling the auto transport company.
With open car transport, your car is typically moved from one location to the next on an open car hauler. Open car transport is often the less-expensive option, but it leaves the vehicle susceptible to damage from traffic and the weather. Still, know that damage is rarely incurred with open car transport. With enclosed car transport, your vehicle is shipped in a boxed trailer. This shipping method is often used to transport luxury cars, antique vehicles, and pricey specialty cars.
To prepare a car for transport, take photos of the vehicle, and identify any preexisting damage. Later, this will help assess if the vehicle has been damaged in transit. In addition to removing personal items, car owners should remove or disable the car's alarm system, and remove custom products and add-ons like DVD players and GPS systems to avoid theft. Fold in the vehicle's side mirrors, and remove the antenna.  Have an extra set of keys, so you don't have to give the carrier your only set. Finally, make sure the gas tank has roughly a quarter tank of fuel.  A full fuel tanks adds excess weight, but they’ll need to be some gas in the tank so the car can be driven to and from the shipping facility.
Your car cannot be packed with belongings while it is being transported. The Department of Transportation bans carriers from shipping cars that are loaded with household items. If a carrier breaks this law, it might be levied with a fine of up to $10,000.
Auto transport companies have insurance that is designed to provide reimbursement if damage to a car occurs during transit. If you believe your car has been damaged during transport, it's important to promptly notify the auto transport company, since some companies only allow 30 days to file a claim.
