Do not shop here; I've never experienced worse customer service in my life. My husband and I came to Zerbe to search for a ring and received very helpful service from the gentleman on the floor. He offered to have my engagement and wedding rings cleaned, which I was wearing at the time. When we were preparing to leave, the jeweler who had cleaned my rings came to the storefront to return them. However, he informed me that one of the prongs of my wedding ring--an estate piece of yellow gold with twelve small diamonds--had broken while my ring was in the jewelry cleaner and that it would be $78 to replace the prong and "at least several hundred dollars more" to fix the rest of the prongs on the ring. My husband and I asked that the jeweler cover the cost to replace the prong that had broken while he was cleaning the ring, to which he replied, "absolutely not," and went on to say that it was actually our fault the ring had broken because we had not "informed him that the prongs could break." Neither my husband nor I have expertise in jewelry and we had trusted Zerbe to handle my wedding ring with care, especially when other jewelers we've visited have cleaned my rings without losing any of its stones. Shoppers: deal with Zerbe at your own risk!(UPDATE [June 10, 2015]): The owner of Zerbe Jewelers personally reached out to apologize for the poor treatment my husband and I received in the store and to make amends for our experience. A professional, ethical decision end to this story. We will consider patronizing this store again now that we know the owners value customer service and professional conduct...even if one of their jewelers most certainly did not!
