I have been a student in College Station for a few years but only recently purchased a car and with that came the obvious need to find an honest, affordable, friendly, and knowledgeable mechanic. Each time, the person answering the phone was polite and helpful and answered my questions without being condescending. The first thing I took my car in for was a brake system flush. The price was reasonable and they made sure to check for leaks at no extra cost. Most mechanics would have tried to sell that unnecessary repair until they were blue in the face. They also were happy to take a look at another issue I was having and give me helpful advice, also without trying to sell me a repair or charging me extra. I later took my car in for an oil change. The place is perpetually packed, most likely for similar reasons to the ones mentioned above, but they still bent over backwards to get me in that day.

Goodyear Auto Service Center
Had a great experience at this Goodyear location! After the weather turned chilly the 'Low Tire Pressure' indicator came on. I filled the tires myself and didn't think anything more of it until the next week when I started having to fill them every day.Took it in to Goodyear and the checked all 4 tires, filled them, didn't see anything obvious and told me to come back if I had any further issues. Came back the next day, the put the offending tire in the dunk tank, found the offending nail and fixed it FOR FREE.I work in customer Service, so pretty aware of it when utilizing local vendors; Justin and the team at Goodyear were extremely professional and pleasant. Thanks for getting me safely back on the road!

My son is a busy student & it's very important to me that he has reliable transportation, so when I learned his car needed a vital repair I searched on Yelp for some guidance. I called & was satisfied with the estimate of cost & time. I was very pleased that both were spot on! Thank you very much for making me feel confident that he can bring his car back to Pro-Tec for future maintenance. As a single mom, the honest price quote (not over-priced by any means) & professional work are priceless! Thank you so much for taking good care of us, we appreciate it very much!

I had my car's oil changed here this morning and they were quick, professional, and informative with all my questions and concerns. I came back a few hours later because I noticed a small oil pool underneath my car and they were happy to check if there was something wrong. Everything turned out fine and they said that the oil I saw was the old oil that they drained which fell into a catch pan and poured out when I parked on an incline. Thanks for the help and explanations! I learned a lot. :) Also the price is reasonable compared to other places in town.

Reasonable prices and great service. This is the only mechanic I take my car to. The owner is very friendly, doesn't BS you and gets your car fixed in the same day. What hooked me was when I was concerned about my brakes. The mechanic checked them and said, "don't worry about it. If you were my daughter, I wouldn't worry about it." He was still willing to change them to ease my worry, but he seemed sincere, and so I trusted him. As a female whose father is thousands of miles away, this was very comforting. :)

These guys have often been far cheaper, quicker and provided accurate. They are quick to take care of you and provide of exactly what is wrong with the vehicle. They also use common sense when diagnosing a vehicle and offer different options when evaluating your vehicle's repairs. I have used them for my vehicles that no longer have warranties and I have been satisfied the three times I've been here in the last two. I would highly recommend them over the other area shops!

Love me some Pro-Tec! The guys are fantastic! They don't talk down to me and I have had great experience in having them service my complicated vehicle. It's an Audi = $! The guys are straight with me and cost me considerably less than the dealership. If I need they tell me, if I don't - they tell me! Plus, everyone is friendly and my wait time has never been ridiculous. Seems to be within the norm.

Came here to get a free quote on some repairs that ntb said I needed. $200 cheaper than ntb would have charged, and they were also very efficient. I expected them to need a few days as I needed multiple things done but was able to pick it up about 15 minutes after they closed (they said it would be fine over the phone). Great service!

honest mechanics. They made sure that they figure out the problem without changing unnecessary parts that most places do. They were extremely nice, one of them drove around with me to make sure they can diagnose what was wrong with the car correctly.

I was from out of town, they got my truck in, fixed it, got me on the road. I like that a woman is in a business such as a garage. It makes other women feel a lot more comfortable to be in a garage. Thanks for the help.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
