The restaurant changed it's name to Blue Crab. You'd think that you are going to view a seafood menu. The menu consisted of 4-5 seafood dishes that didn't exactly sound appealing and had far more grinders and sandwiches/hoagies. Very disappointing and didn't even bother to sample the food. And the decor.... what was once a beautifully decorated tropical mayan jungle was now just a dank and dark room with no appeal.
The thing that made this restaurant shine before and brought people back was the atmosphere! The food was good but nothing spectacular however people returned because it was a interesting place to go because of the decor! The new management went in and changed the only thing with the restaurant that people didn't have a problem with! Obviously the new management is about as qualified as the last management team!
We had the BBQ salmon, ravioli in tomato cream sauce and the Fish and Chips. The prices were about $2-3 above what you would expect to pay. If they added a salad or some side veggies maybe the price would be more acceptable. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was very friendly. Service was very good.
I agree with the last review......food not as good as it looks, over priced, this place does not believe in guest satisfaction! whoever owns this place needs to pull their head out of something and take a look around. Many of our friends from our group that was just there will not be back as well!
The food is not worth the price. Food is not as good as it looks and the service is poor. The inside is too dark. Plus I had bad service. My waitress did not return my full amount of change. And the waitress forgot items, including my drinks. I had no water untill my meal came, which took about 25 minutes. Awful!! Dont go there.
Food was good but without wow factor for the price. The Vhooda Saturday Special was way overpriced for what was offered. The menu states prime rib special every Saturday, but we tried to order we were told that the special was instead a rib eye with chunky mashed potatoes for $19.99. I was thinking for that price it must be a complete meal with a salad or some veggies on the side. Three others in my group also ordered other food. Steaks came to our table in the appropriate time and looked delicious but also a little lonely without anything but mashed potatoes and okra and a slim slice of orange. We waited for 5 minutes before finally listening to others in our group who had been encouraging us to start eating. We both felt uncomfortable eating in front of our friends. 10 minutes goes by before the rest of the food arrives at the table. Waitress kept saying it was not her fault. I stated that that is not the issue at all and that I was not looking to fault anyone. The issue is that instead of her taking the initiative and figuring out how to fix the issue.(i.e. take the steaks back until the other food was served; provide a free round of drinks, or comp the meals altogether or just the ones that were late) She continued to say she was sorry. I said why don't you get the manager. The manager stood 15 feet away pretending not to be the manager without taking the initiative to act as the manager.
The waitress stopped back finally after avoiding us and brought some drinks to appease us and then continued to say it was not her fault again and that maybe she could get us some dessert.
But the next time we saw her she just brought the bill and that was that. We were going to stay for the band that was setting up and order some additional drinks but the events took the wind out of our sails. The restaurant has potential but the service staff and manager needs to be better trained if that place will survive past the summer patio season.
recently visited vhooda it was our favorite place to go.I asked server what seemed different about the place other than different music playing. our server explained about the name change??? why??? and under new management, we never had any problems with our food or having a good time here. my husbands steak was like leather on a plate my food was not so wonderful, i think the lobster tails shrank. I spoke with another guest at the restaurant and they said that it was under new management and alot of the old staff had left do to the change over. Bad choice, My husband spoke with a manager who didnt seem to know how to handle a situation. I dont think we will be back.
