Richman Animal Clinic
I do not think I could put into words how much Dr. Richman and his staff mean to me and my fur family. He is the first vet that I have met that genuinely cares about the wellbeing of my animals. Each visit here is a pleasure, and I was pleasantly surprised the first time that I received a phone call from the office just to check in on my senior dog. I have never worked with a vet that takes the time to call and check in and see how things are going. I recently had to put my 16 old collie down and I could not have asked for a more supportive group of people to help me through the process- I received a sympathy card from doc in the mail and a paw print from Charlie that I will cherish forever- during his last few months Dr. Richman did everything possible to be sure that Charlie and I were both doing well, I will never forget that. I will not be taking my 4 dogs anywhere but Dr. Richman’s office.

Richman Animal Clinic
Dr Richman has been taking care of our new puppy since we adopted Austin at the end of summer. My wife and daughter really like him and we found all his puppy rules to be very helpful housebreaking Austin. The staff has called us a few times to make suer things are going ok and if we have any questions. My family always has a lot of questions. Dr Richman seems to genuinely like our puppy and us. But, we were pleasantly surprised when Austin was spayed and my daughter, who was very worried, received a text and a picture right after surgery showing Austin waking up and letting us know things went fine. Then she even more surprised when Dr RIchman called that evening to make sure all of us were ok. I never had a doctor of any type call after a surgery. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr RIchman and his staff to anyone that loves their pet.

VCA Midpark Animal Hospital
I went in because my dog had skin allergies, and the office was nice and clean, I liked that the first exam is free for new patients.. But I told them what was going on and how usually my old vet gives antihistamines and they don't work.. They gave me the same thing instead of trying to figure out another route. And then suggested he had fleas which he absolutely doesn't.. So it was kind of offensive to me.. Then they wanted me to spend 55$ on flea medicine.. I just feel like nothing was solved. So 84$ later and my dog is the same as he always is.. Pulling out fur due to his seasonal allergies. I don't understand why no steroid shots were given like they usually do for bichons. Vet was a nice man.. The ladies in there were ok.. But I feel it was a waste of time and money.

Beachland Animal Hospital
Dr. Gulzeth has been consistently amazing with my dogs for the last seventeen years. I recommend her highly. Her staff has been supportive and caring, always patient, always fully answering my questions and needs. My dogs are extremely important to me; I searched and tried many Veterinarians until happily finding Dr. Gulzeth. Dr. Gulzeth met me at her clinic after closing on a Saturday night to see my dog and perform an emergency procedure on her. We were there with her for hours. She has gone above and beyond many times caring for my animals, and has always been warm and kind with them, they love her! I have never had a reason to second guess my decision in choosing Beachland, and have encouraged others I care about to do the same.

Brooklyn Animal Hospital
My german shepherd had several lumps that needed removed, so I decided to try them because a friend recommended them. Best decision ever made - they are SO nice and helpful and you can tell they really love the animals, not profits. I had a quote from a lakewood taj mahal clinic (these pretty places with tons of staff and fancy artwork, etc.) for over $1000. So I went to Brooklyn and never looked back. $400 for the same surgery PLUS a dental cleaning! Sadly, I had to put her down a few months back and now have a new german shepherd and they were so compassionate through the whole process. Their service and their love of the animals (and prices!) is way more important than some fancy building and artwork any day!

Richman Animal Clinic
I finally found a good vet. My friends say I'm hard on people I do business with but I just expect what I give at work. This animal clinic is very good. From the receptionist to the nurses and especially to Dr RIchman, everyone takes pride in their work is honest and fair. Dr RIchman recently helped Amigo through an illness that was difficult to diagnose and heal. Dr Richman ran some tests, did an exam, asked me a lot of questions and then fixed my boy up. He explains things well and in simple language for someone not medical and his charges are fair. I recommend Dr Richman and give him 5 stars and so does Amigo.

VCA Midpark Animal Hospital
The previous reviews are old. The hospital must be under new management with new doctors, because our service there has be exceptional! Our oldest cat has kidney disease. We try to see the same doctor each visit since she knows out cat's history. But on the occasion we've had to see someone else, they've been awesome! They've taken the time to read our pet's history before administering care. They've been nothing but loving and gentle with our two cats. The facility is clean and they seem to have the most updated equipment. I'd recommend this hospital to anyone!

Brooklyn Animal Hospital
My 20-year old best kitty friend had cancer and was in her last stages of life. It was extremely hard watching her suffer; we decided this morning it was in her best interest to allow her to cross over with dignity.I had never been to Brooklyn Animal Hospital before we took Daisy in this afternoon. They were so compassionate and professional. I was allowed to hold my dear cat while the medicine helped her to end her suffering.Thank you for your caring and support! We now have a family vet for life.

Brooklyn Animal Hospital
Dr patty. Has the largest heart I've ever seen a veterinarian have. She believes and what she does for her patients and their owners. She has given me stolen time with her expertise for the love of my heart my 12 yr old standard poodle Cappichino who has cancer. She has gone above and beyond straight from the heart with her selflessness for my dog. I will trust and believe in her with my other pets and my future Pets. Carmen DiPalma, Cleveland
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
