HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric
We were experiencing wildly fluctuating water pressures throughout the home. Vincent arrived promptly at the scheduled appointment time and began to troubleshoot the issue. He quickly determined that the whole-house pressure reducing valve had failed. He also knew to check the water heater pressure/temperature bypass valve (as this can open when the pressure in the home exceeds the water heaters preset pressure setting). As it turned out—there were signs that the valve had opened. He also suggested adding an expansion tank on the hot water heater since the installing plumber (not Thompson) did not provide one—perhaps to save costs on his bid. He explained that this simple device could save my water heater should the pressure in the system increase like we had seen.I also asked Vincent if there was anything he could do to improve the hot water delivery to our 2nd floor bathrooms. It takes several minutes of running showers/tubs to simply get hot water to these bathrooms. He recommended a recirculating pump/manifold at the most distant run on the hot water line. This entailed installation of a (very high quality) pump on the cold water-side of the water heater, and a small bypass manifold at the second-floor’s most-distant sink. Now—we have hot water within seconds, and we have stopped wasting water waiting for the showers and sinks to get to temperature. Thanks (Again) Thompson! I’ll be asking for Vincent by name…he takes great pride in his workmanship, and it shows.

HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric
Andy M arrived for my annual furnace check-up. As a Thompson Heating & Cooling “Club Member” this is included as part of my membership—so no fee here.He found two components of my 14-yr old Carrier system were operating well outside of normal specification (capacitor and hot-surface heating element). Having just lost the AC portion of my HVAC system to an “aged” capacitor—I knew that this was NOT something to leave to chance. Andy M replaced both components, performed the balance of my heating inspection and thoroughly cleaned the entire furnace flow-path.Great service, unwavering politeness and jobsite cleanliness continue to be the hallmarks of Thompson Heating and Cooling service. Will use them without hesitation again and again. If you are not already a “Club” member—call their office and inquire. Membership offers a tremendous savings on repairs, parts, and plumbing inspections/tune-ups.

HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric
Brandon Bolden, Robert Finch and Kyle Lumpkin were great! In addition to being super professional and knowledgeable and answering all of my questions, they were also all very personable and conversational as they worked. When investing the kind of money a new AC/Furnace costs, it's important to know that there are real people with real lives who "get you" and your situation standing behind the guarantees of the company you employ. I also don't care for technicians who talk down to me because I'm a woman and this did not happen at all. I care even less for high pressured sales tactics which I did not feel like Brandon used at all. They gave me facts and let me make my decisions. HELP supports veterans as well so that's a no brainer. Thanks for all your help, HELP.

My experience with this company has been awesome! I was given polite customer service as well as prompt service. The technicians were very determined to get the job done and they did just that. I couldn't be more pleased with they're service and I will forever utilize this company for all my air conditioning needs.I would like to give a special shout out to both technicians Mr. Brian Watters and Deandre, as well as the customer service rep Cindy. Without them my family would not have survived through one of the hottest days of this summer. I really appreciate you all and it was a pleasure doing business with you.

Great professional electrician service today! David Crane and checked out my power outage. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything to me without talking down to me and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He even called me after the visit to provide some information that would be helpful for me to know...very thoughtful. Their customer care call center is always top notch and their Help Club membership saves me a great deal of money. Do not hesitate to use them.

HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric
Justin came to look at a small leak we had with the stack. He fixed it quickly and not with a large cost as I expected. I asked him to look at the entire plumbing system as I had purchased the house only 3 years ago. He walked through the house and gave honest suggestions on what needed to be fixed now and what could wait. He was clean, cleaned up his mess, very knowledgeable about plumbing and I would not hesitate to call him to come fix any plumbing issues I have with my house.

Frey Elec Inc
Hi, I just had Frey Electric at my house to upgrade the electric coming into my home to a higher service. Their quote was competitive with others, they were nice and easy to deal with, kept us informed every step since we had to have Duke involved. They did the job they quoted with no surprises in a timely manner. I would recommend to anyone. They went above and beyond with our project and Jeff and his co-worker did a great job at my house.Cathy K. Western Hills

Mike T was professional and courteous. He was very knowledgeable and made very helpful recommendations concerning the care and upkeep of our HVAC system. He also identified a problem with our heat pump, fixed it and made recommendations regarding possible problems to watch for in the future as our HVAC unit ages. Great service, I really appreciated Mike T.'s honesty.
Tips & Advices
Keep the following tips in mind:
  • Do not operate any electrical equipment while sitting or standing in water.
  • Don't overload extension cords or surge protectors.
  • Put caps on your electrical outlets if you have small children.
  • Call an electrician if you notice your sockets or switches are warm to the touch, discolored or if they make noise.
  • Keep electrical cords away from stoves, ovens and other sources of heat.
  • Do not use an appliance that has a frayed cord.
  • Do not staple extension cords into place or cover them with carpets or furniture.
  • When using extension cords, make sure to unwrap them before plugging them in.
  • Don't overuse extension cords. Have an electrician install extra outlets if you need a power source closer to you.
  • Only use light bulbs with the correct wattage for your lamps and light fixtures.
  • Contact a licensed electrician if you frequently blow fuses, since this can be a sign of an electrical wiring problem.
  • Have an electrician look at your fuse box to ensure you have the right size fuses and circuit breakers. The wrong size fuse or breaker can be a fire hazard.
  • If you have fault circuit interrupters installed in your electrical panel, make sure you test them at least once a month by turning them on and off.
It can cost from $40-$100 an hour depending on the job. This does not include additional costs for parts or trip fees. Make sure to ask in advance what they charge for or if they will provide a free quote.
In order to become a full-fledged professional, a person must undergo an apprenticeship with master and journeyman electricians. An apprentice needs 8,000 hours of practical work before graduating to the journeyman level. If an apprentice reaches journeyman status, he or she can complete most electrical work, but cannot design it until completing more testing along with 2,000 more on-the-job hours.
Yes. While all electricians need a license, not all of them do the same types of jobs.
  • Outside: These types of electricians work outdoors on electrical lines that connect to power plants.
  • Inside: Inside experts typically focus on commercial and industrial buildings that require a lot of power.
  • Residential: Residential electricians work with low-voltage systems and wiring to install fuse boxes and light fixtures.
Watch out for contractors that greatly underbid other electricians. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also, always remember to get the estimate in writing before settling on a company.
