Lay It Straight
Alex and her people did an excellent job with the fabrication and installation of our new granite counter top. They kept to their quote for the things we originally asked for and was willing to add to the list when requested (we endedup adding a few things to the project in the middle of it). We did have to follow up a few times with minor details. But they followed up when we did pointthings out and did so without complaint. I would definitely hire Lay it straightif and when you want a new granite counter.

The product and service here is fantastic. I went to their Batavia location becasue I was looking for some inexpensice granite for a house I was flipping. The service was beyond what I expected. They have a large amount of full slabs, so you can see exactly what you are getting. For even a small job, their people took their time to make sure everything was exactly as I expected. Their installation team was first rate. The granite is beautiful and the service great. I will be using them again.

Great experience from start to finish. Their prices are reasonable compared to two other places I went to first, but they had better services than the others. I was able to look at over many different granite samples, they asked me a bunch of questions to see what I wanted, and when I made a decision they were able to show me my granite before they cut it. ...And they got it done on time. Friendly staff, great service. Highly recommend you check them out if you are looking for a new counter top.

Very satisfied with end results. The kitchen is exactly what I wanted. This was a big project and they came upon several major obstacles. Each time they promised me they would work through them and guaranteed me I would love it when they were done. Alex was right I love it. The best thing about this company is that I never once came home from work to a mess. At the end of each day they cleaned up everything. Alex is very easy to work with. She listened to my ideas and also offered me his suggestions. I would definitely use Lay it straight for any future projects.

Norton Flooring
I, recently, had been looking to replace carpeting throughout my entire house. I received a quote from a well-known company (not to be mentioned here) for $13,000. While I was having my upholstery cleaned the gentleman doing the cleaning told me about a company (Norton Flooring) that he recommends and they will beat my quote easily. My wife and I stopped by their showroom just to see what they had to offer. We spoke to Steve A. and was really surprised with their prices. Steve came out to the house to measure. The quote he gave me was for $6300. This includes an upgrade to the best padding they have as well as installation and the carpeting was basically the same as the other company. Steve was a true pleasure to work with. I requested installation to take place over two days as I had a lot of furniture to move. They were very accommodating. On installation day Adam, Don and Avery showed up on time and installed with perfection. At the end of the first day of installation the crew even moved my heavier furniture back in place. It was a truly pleasure working with Norton Flooring. If I ever have a need for replacing any type of flooring I will without a doubt work with Norton Flooring (10185 McCauly Rd – (513) 860-9800).I have already recommended Norton to four of my friends that are in process of replacing their flooring.I would recommend Norton Flooring to anyone. Please check them out before you commit to any other company. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Tips & Advices
In most states, contractors are required to have a license before taking a job. Some states also require registration. To be licensed, contractors must pass an exam and meet certain qualifications that prove he or she is a competent flooring contractor. Registration is simply a list of who will be performing a job.
The time it takes to install flooring depends on the type of flooring and the size of the room or rooms involved in the project. In one day, a typical contractor can usually install up to 2,000 square feet of carpet, 600 square feet of hardwood or laminate, or 400 square feet of tile or stone.
  • Do you have a professional license, insurance, and a business liability policy?
  • Who will work on the project?
  • Do you subcontract, and do you screen workers and have insurance policies to cover them?
  • Do you have references or examples of your work I can see?
  • Do you charge for an in-home estimate?
  • What type of flooring is best for my home in terms of architectural consistency, environmental influences (such as whether a certain type of flooring will be affected by humidity in my area), and durability?
Legally, insurance is not necessary, but it's a good idea for flooring contractors to have it. When hiring a flooring contractor, ask whether the business is insured. If it's not, consider that a red flag.
A flooring contractor should know the pros and cons of each flooring option. These might include pricing, time of installation, durability, and average lifespan of the material.
