Quaint but elegant establishment that's been around for quite awhile. Although there are a number of menu choices, they are noted for their crepes. I usually order the crepes coq au vin. (chicken in a wine sauce with toasted almonds) You can get one or two with a salad and various breads. Outstanding desserts are also available. Try the chocolate cherry cordial pie. (chocolate mousse in a pecan crust.) You will be sharing this with the table because it's a generous portion. The Sunday brunch is one of the best around. Make reservations!
I had been looking for a soul food restaurant since I moved to Cincinnati. Heard a radio commercial about the Dukester and went right over to try it......I was not disappointed. I ordered the Catfish Dinner it was the bomb. So was the greens, candied yams and the peach cobbler was off the chain!!!! Think I found my soul food restaurant!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. The owner said after the first of the year they'all be open 7 days a week!!! Thank you Dukster!!!!
Cincinnati chili is really a recipe from a Greek immigrant. It's an "acquired" taste according to newcomers, but if you were born here you love it. Multiple locations in the city. My favorite menu item is the three way which consists of a plate of spaghetti covered with the chili and topped with a mound of shredded cheddar cheese and served with oyster crackers. Other combos including beans and/or onions are also popular.
I like the renovation here. More up to date light fixtures and color scheme. The yeast rolls are something I look forward to and the twisted chips are a good change of pace from fries. Check your receipt. They frequently have a survey phone number to call and critique your experience. If you do, you will get a free appetizer.
Very busy on a Sunday night. Staff is super nice and attentive. Food was average, IMO. Lump crab & lobster cake sandwich lacked seafood and flavor and tasted mostly of potatoes. Burgers are good. Sides are good but small portions. Our order of onion rings had four rings. Great dive ambience. We enjoyed the experience.
This neighborhood restaurant and bar is a local favorite. Wide variety of salads, sandwiches , and dinners. Can be noisy on a crowded Saturday night, but just get in the swing of things and go with the flow. Limited street parking with large lot in the back makes parking easy. Cashew chicken salad is very good
You can't miss this place. The big chicken on the roof makes it a neighborhood landmark. I love the sauerbrauten and hot slaw. It comes with potato pancakes and pineapple fritters, too. Of course, chicken is their specialty. "Allow 20 minutes for it" the menu states. It's worth the wait.
Just had lunch here. I got the petite sirloin which was very good but a little chewie. The salad bar could be used as one of the sides. Their salad bar is always good. The waiter seemed to be kind of new at the job, but tried harder. It's all good with a buyone get one coupon.
I really love their food. The service is very dependent and friendly. Their pretzels & beer cheese are good as well as their creme brulee. My husband loves their wings. They make a great hot toddy too. We have had lots of their items and enjoy them all.
this is a really good place if you want some really good soul food! i used to come a lot when i lived close by to get their chess pie and fried chicken. Usually around thanksgiving, i would have mrs. roper to make me a pumpkin pie (they are sooo good).
