Payless 4 Wheel Drive
I have taken all my cars and trucks to Payless for repairs and smog tests since I moved to Chico over 25 years ago. I think Mark has always been there and the mechanics are top notch! The mechanics have found problems quickly because they have tons of experience and have always charged me a fair price. All the people who have written complaining abut their prices must think they make money by performing smog checks. 35.00 Smog checks are a loss for them. My smog test last week failed because of a cracked hose ( Which by the way another shop did not diagnose after being there twice) Payless charged me a little over 70.00 bucks for everything! That is honest and more than a good deal. They are highly recommended!

Papenhausen Automotive Service & Repair
I have taken my 2007 Chevy Duramax Pick Up, 2011 Ford Fusion and 2010 Hyundia Elantra to Papenhausen Auto. This shop is operated by the owner, Richard Papenhausen. He gets you in quick. He has always got the job done in the time frame and price quoted. I felt very comfortable and not taken advantage of like most shops. He explained everything to me and returned all parts that were replaced. If you’re looking for someone to call "your mechanic" and someone you can trust with your vehicle and be treated in a very professional and courtesy manner, I definitely recommend Papenhausen Auto for any and ALL auto repair.

Highway Motors Inc.
Have purchased 2 cars and referred friends that have been VERY happy with the service at Highway Motors. I am now using them for regular car maintence and tire purchases for all the cars in our family. They are prompt, kind, understanding and do what ever they can to work with you and your budget. They are honest and up front after diagnosing the problem with a call to let me know EXACTLY what the cost will be and ask how I would like to proceed. Great group of guys and keep up the great work!

Chico Collision Center Inc
I had an incredible experience at Chico Collision in Chico CA. I have a BMW that was recently hit so I called the connoisseurs at Chico Collision. I might be a ‘little’ meticulous but Mark, Sharon and Kim exceeded my expectations. Honesty, integrity and respect come to mind when I mention Chico Collision to family and friends. I was amazed at how fast my car was repaired. In addition, they give a Life Time National warranty. When you’re there, you’re family….

Affordable Automotive
Affordable and reliable place to get my Prius serviced in Chico. Simon and the mechanics on the crew are friendly and go the extra mile as noted in the other positive review. Last time I was there I noticed the stickers on the window acknowledging the business was chosen by readers of the Chico News and Review as the Best Auto Shop in town for three years in a row. All this adds up to 5 stars in my book

Tedious Repairs
Recently, my daughter brought her car to Tedious for motor work. It was fixed in no time! The owner ordered parts, repaired the motor and had her up and running quickly. I am sure if I had taken it somewhere else it probably would have been so expensive that she couldn't even afford it. Great service, great prices. We need more honest business people like Tedious...Thank you Tedious Repairs!

Roberts Automotive
Sean is a great guy to work with. Its awesome to finally find someone that can actually fix my 2005 Ford F350 6.OL Diesel. I was referred to him from a friend, but kept putting it off due to the distance, driving from Marysville. But the drive is definitely worth it, he definitely will be my go to mechanic from here out.

Chico Collision Center Inc
Not long after buying my car I hit a deer. (or the deer hit me) My insurance company recommended Chico Collision. I got my car in quickily, they helped me set up a rental and the repairs were done. The car looks great and the staff was really helpful. I tell all my friends to go to Chico Collision.

Tedious Repairs
Tedious motors is by far the best shop I have the pleasure of donor business with. Prices are very reasonable and the work is exceptional. I would recommend this shop to any of my friends. That is the only place I will take my vehicles to be repaired. Excellent work done there.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
