I hail from the Isles of the South Seas and had my 1st taste of jerk chicken/turkey/ribs at JAMAICAN ME HUNGRY on my very 1st visit to Chicago just in December. What an WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!! Simply amazing and delicious!!! The meats were soft and soo full of flavor!! The candied yams were just so tasty and ripened plantain on side was a really nice touch (reminded me of home, made the way I like). The staff and owner, Eddie, were very welcoming and friendly. I stopped in to Bad Dog Tavern for a bite before a concert I was attending accross the street. I had just arrived from the Detroit area and was hungy!I found the place a little dark on inside from the middle of the bar back but was greeted by a friendly hostess and seated by the open windows at front of the bar. Could see much better there. The menue looked yummy and the drinks sounded great. My waitress came to take my drink and food orders and was very pleasant as well and was happy to help me select a drink. The food didn't take too long to arrive. Looked great tasted great!I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich which had cheese and roasted red peppers on it as well. There was some of the seed/membrane on one of the pepper strips and could've used a bit more of the pesto but overall the sandwich was tasty. Tender chicken, plenty of cheese, fresh bread. The sandwich was served with yummy lightly seasoned fries that also had bits of (what I'm guessing was) parmisan cheese and a crisp dill pickle spear. My drink was delicious as well (got some kind of tropical mix - sorry I can't remmeber the name of it). Bad Dog Tavern is in a neat part of town so it was also fun to watch the people that were walking around the neighborhood. A nice mix of folks. Good, friendly service. Fresh, yummy food. Good seating. Very reasonably priced for Chicago!
My dining partner and I have enjoyed years of great food and drink in Chicago and Los Angeles, and our overall impression of Revival was simply this: "we had to find a bad one sooner or later!"- there were other seats, but they seated us directly under a large, unfiltered skylight at 1pm -- lots of squinting!- the room was a cacophony of sound; all right angles and hard surfaces, so everyone was raising their voices to be heard.- we left much of our meal unconsumed: an over-salted bloody mary, an "odd, sort of tex-mex" eggs benedict, chips that tasted heavy and bland, and nutella pancakes that had no flavor beyond the nutella itself.- we were surrounded by waitstaff chatting with each other and friends at tables, and couldn't get a check without resorting to unsubtle methods. In short, you can do better.
Just finished our super delicious meal! Had the tomahawk rib eye with augratin potatoes and organc spinach salad with key lime pie for desert all of which were super delicious. Our waiter, the ex scuba diver , did an outstading job. Table service top notch with clean forks and knives with each course. Table swept clean, and if you leave your table during your meal, you will return to a folded napkin. Hostess kindly explained the local history of the building and neighborhood. I had to look hard to find fault, but being from old school service, I prefer my water and or drink glass to be removed from the table for refilling rather than reach across with a pitcher but that's just me. Enjoyed our first visit here and would definitely recommend.
I happen to be in town and was walking in the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by. The weather in Chicago was unusually warm, and it was a gorgeous day out. Sociale had the windows open and the bar looked so inviting. I was warmly greeted by several staff members as soon as I walked in. Everyone was very friendly. I ordered a cocktail and the Brie with Bacon Jam flatbread. Listen Linda! OMG, it was amazing! I tried not to devour the whole thing, but my tummy wants what it wants. The bacon-onion jam paired perfectly with the brie and cured egg yolk on top. Hmmm...I suddenly need to make a trip to Chicago.
This was a great experience! I came with 14 girls ranging in age from 14-17 and they had a great time! It was an enlightening experience! We made contact with several spirits. I was a bit skeptical at first but after this... not anymore! I would def go back in the near future. The guides were wonderful. The customer service was outstanding. The owner was knowledgeable and informative! Actually, some of the girls told their family members about it and they can't wait to go! Thanks Chicago Ghost Investigation for my daughter's wonderful 15th birthday and an amazing experience for all of us!
I ordered the Cape May baocos and my husband ordered the Roasted Belly baocos, both of which can be ordered in a plate of either 3 or 5. For me 3 was plenty, I took one home, with the banana chips I was quite full. My husband ordered 5 and had no trouble eating them all. We both agreed that our food was delicious and the wait time was very reasonable. The atmosphere is good, and the location convenient. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
This place is really cool compared to most Jamaican restaurants...the food is hot, the service is great and the price is cheap. What I like most about Irie Island besides the food is the ambiance. Its well built and clean. They serve you buffet style unless you decide to dine In which I do all the time. I got a couple of my friends to come with me their to watch the game and they loved it too more so because we were able to bring our bottles in. "YEA FOR BYOB ON THE SOUTH SIDE".
I'm just visiting Chicago this is my first time and I thought they had outstanding customer service. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and the manager let us know when we came for brunch but there's about 15 more minutes before it closed for lunch but as long as we got our order and they would still make us breakfast which I thought was nice the food was really good it had a really great atmosphere definitely recommend checking it out
THIS CITGO/DUNKIN DONUTS IS GREAT! I DO GO IN REGULARLY AND BY THE 3RD TIME, THE LADIES AT DD KNEW WHAT DRINK I WANTED & THE CASHIER ON THE GAS SIDE KNEW WHAT CIGARETTES I NEEDED WITHOUT HAVING TO SAY A WORD! THEY ALWAYS HAVE A SMILE FOR YOU AND A BIG HELLO, HOW ARE YOU?! THAT SORT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU JUST DO NOT RECEIVE ANYMORE, IM GLAD THAT EVEN IN THE BIG CITY YOU CAN FIND A BIT OF SMALL TOWN SERVICE!
