Stokes Auto Service
Stokes Auto Service in Bridgeport is the greatest ever!! My 1995 Bonnieville broke down on me the other day at a stop light. Since I was in Bridgeport returning home from my friend’s, I had no idea where to have it towed to. Thankfully, my friend called a few friends for a referral and I had my car towed to Stokes. He immediately checked it out, and not only found the problem of why it died on me, but another ongoing problem of which over the last few years I had taken to numerous mechanics who couldn’t figure it out. He noticed the alternator in my car was not the correct one and the mechanic that installed it forced it in and cracked my Intake Manifold. I was shocked he figured this out, especially so quickly and I hadn’t even mentioned any other issues. He knew my car like the back of his hand!My car was ready 2 days later and now is running like new! He was wonderful! He was spot-on in diagnosing my car within a couple of hours. He thoroughly explained everything to me. Their prices are fair and reasonable and I know he did quality work. I was very comfortable with him. He could have taken advantage of me since my car was towed there and I was “stuck”. But he didn’t. I know I would have paid much more for the same work elsewhere. Money is tight for me and he did all that work within my budget that we discussed.Stokes Auto Service is professional, honest and I got the heartfelt feeling that he really cared about my safety (not the money) and wasn’t going to let me leave with a car that may have jeopardized my safety. And he didn’t know me from Adam! I am so very happy that I have found a mechanic that I can trust! I will not go anywhere else, because being a woman; I have been ripped off by mechanics in the past. It will be a bit of a drive for me to use him, but totally worth it! He has a new happy customer for life! I cannot rave enough about Stokes Auto Service!!!!Tina UEvergreen Park

West Loop Auto Body
I went to this shop because a friend told me they knew someone who went there and had work done and said it was reasonable and great quality. I normally just go where my family goes for service but let me tell you, they blew me out of the water. The customer service I received was like nothing I ever experienced. The staff was beyond welcoming and offered me so many options for repairing my truck. Demetrius, Raymond, and Ryan were like my old friends. So then I felt ok if their this good something must be up, maybe the repairs were mediocre or something but was I surprised. They made my old truck look like it was showroom quality again. I had 3 previous estimates to repair all my old dents and rust ranging from $5000-$6000. I was told how much of a difficult job it would be and it would take at least a month to complete by the other shops. West Loop not only got it done in 2 1/2 weeks but for $4000. I was astounded I must say. Superior quality and very reasonable who wouldn't want that. Unfortunately my wife had a run in with a dumpster so I'll definitely be back sooner than I thought, she must be in cahoots with them lol. West Loop keep rockin !!!!

Western Bryn Mawr Auto Repair
Once again Western and Bryn Mawr Auto repair helped me and got my 20 year old car running. I would hate to be the mechanic that fixes my car because my car is so old and am sure my car is hard to work on. Sami and George's mechanics are always nice, friendly and very respectful with me and I always walk away with a feeling like my job would have costed more had I gone to say a dealership. These are good neighborhood guys they always are more than fair with me and they keep my little ford in tip top shape for a 20 year old car. This time they did my break pads, rotors, tie rod, ball joint, 1 stud 2 calipers and an oil change. I am not going to say what I paid but asked around and everyone I asked guessed a much higher price than what these two brothers charged me. They are truly angels and are the best. Let me also add that my 20 year old car starts up like a brand new car in the cold weather and I really think it is because Sami and George's mechanics take such good care of my car. I bring it in every 3 months for an oil change and they look it over for me and make sure it is safe for me to drive. I am so thankful to them.

OK, We've had our car for about five months now and though we bought it used with a lot of miles. But we've never had any trouble with it at all. All of a sudden out of the blue it would just die when driving it down the street. Worst part about it, is it would stop at around 50 mph So it wasn't like I could just pull over. It was always on the express way or Lake Shore Drive. I took it to an auto shop on the north side which shall remain nameless. They took my car for three days and charged me almost $1,000.00 for all of these readjustments that they supposedly made. One week later, It died again. Someone we met refered us to West Loop Auto and told us they had a good experience there. We went there expecting to shell out another $1,000 and lose our car for another half a week. They found the issue (apparently a minor one) in about an hour and fixed it for under $150 My experience with them was brief and I didn't learn all that much about them, but I could tell they were honest and not way over priced

Marvin's Auto Service
I found Marvin through my uncle when my Ford Explore was having problems. I was told by another mechanic that I needed to have all new ball joints. This was going to be over $3000 worth of work. I went to see Marvin and told him I needed a quote to have all my ball joints replaced. After he had my car for an hour he called back and said I needed to have 2 shocks replaced and one new tire. This totaled $200 worth of work. Because he was honest with me I was sold. I have taken 3 different cars to him. He is always fair, honest and never tries to screw me. I have recommended him to many friends who have all had great experiences! For as long as I live in the Chicago area I will bring my car to Marvin's. Marvin's is one of the few businesses left in the neighborhood (in which I grew up in) that has remained true. It you want a Latte with your oil change or if you can't understand someone with a Spanish accent that is a personal problem and you need to have more than just your car fixed!

Dayton Auto Rebuilders Inc
Well I can say is WOW! I just picked up my car from Dayton and I am so pleased. I had an accident a few weeks ago, where I had a good amount of damage. My insurance company recommended Dayton, so I had my car towed there. The shop manager Glen was very nice and explained the whole process to me and answered all my questions with sencerity. My car was in the shop for 17 days, in which they kept me informed the whole time. Since my car was in the shop, I called to ask if they could also fix a small dent that I had prior. Robin, the lady in the office was so helpful with getting back to me with a price and again answered anything I asked about my car. When it came to the insurance work, Robin took care of everything for me, to where I didn't have any of that stress. My car looks fantastic and back to the way it was before. I am very thankful to the entire shop and I will recommend them to anyone I know. Thanks again Glen and Robin for making my car look great and treating me so well.

I gotta say, these guys are the best in my world. My Subaru needed to pass inspection. For 6 months I'd been trying to get the check engine light off. Kept taking it to the same guy who kept ripping me off and not fixing the problem. Then tried Midas, who said they could fix it- for 2k (new catalytic converter needed). Time was running out- needed my emissions sticker and no prayer of finding 2k. Wandered by West Loop, explained what was going on, and lack of cash. They fixed it well enough to pass inspection, charged me $200, AND cleaned the car inside and out! Hallelujah! The mechanic even came out to explain exactly what he had done so that I understood it. What a nice change from the thief I had been seeing before. In the end, I still need anew catalytic converter (check engine light eventually came back on) but when I do scrape the money together I will bring it to West Loop, who has earned my loyalty (and told me they'd charge nmore like 1k for the catalytic converter).

Armando's Auto Repair
Thank you for restoring my old car a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, it was almost impossible job . Your staff was very professional and absolute joy to work with. The job was to change the rear Rocket Pinion and also the rusting lines for the steering system. In order to do this they have also to change the struts and lower down all the rear components. It wasn't an easy task since there are no parts for this car. I found some in California and Mr Armando some in Chicago. They kept me informed throughout the process of the repair and of testing my car to make sure everything was working properly before returning the car to me. I truly believe you are one of the best mechanic in the area along with your son. I'm going to tell everyone. I know of my experience. You are truly a company that provides high quality auto repair with integrity, honesty, and excellent customer service at a fair price and with a personal touch. Andres Laguna.

Dayton Auto Rebuilders Inc
Recently I was involved in a serious accident and the car was "banged up" pretty good. I couldn't imagine that my car with nearly $12,000 in damages would ever look or drive the same. Boy was I wrong!!! When I picked the car up from Dayton Auto Rebuilders, I couldn't believe how perfect it looked,--as if nothing ever happened!! Little did I know that the best was yet to come. The morning after I picked the car up, I drove it from Chicago to my hometown,-St. Louis, Missouri to visit family. The ride was incredible (just like normal)!! I was so happy!!! When I arrived in St. Louis, my extended family scrutinized the car and tried to find "flaws",---there were none (LOL!). Thank you Dayton for delivering service beyond the expected! Because of you, I can keep my car and drive it again with confidence and pride!!!! You guys are AWESOME!!! Gratefully Yours,Lori McClenton

L & L Auto Service
I have brought my car here a few times and these guys are great. I needed control arm and respective ball joint changed on my car and other larger car companies were charging about $150 more than what L&L was charging for labor and & parts. I was told that I could bring in some parts myself and have them installed, however, they aren't covered in their warranty, so just make sure that the parts are compatible with your vehicle and are bought from a reputable company/seller.Knowing that, I went ahead and bought the parts that I needed online from a well-known company and made sure they were compatible with my vehicle and L&L were nice enough to install the parts that I brought in and only charged me for the labor! Fantastic!I saved a lot of money with them as their hourly labor charge is not that high and Luis & his associates are very courteous and knowledgeable in what they do. Great company.
Tips & Advices
If you have comprehensive coverage, some - if not all - of the windshield repair and replacement costs are covered by the insurance company. Check with your insurance company to inquire about what they are able to pay. It’s also important to consider the deductible. If the cost of the replacement/repair is greater than the current deductible, the insurance company can cover the difference. But if the repair costs are less than the deductible, you will have to pay the full cost out of pocket.
Generally, most professionals can install a new windshield in around one hour and can make repairs in less than 30 minutes.
Wait 24 hours before entering a car wash with a new or repaired windshield. The high water pressures and cleaning chemicals could damage the windshield adhesive.
Most professional installers advise waiting an hour before driving again with a new or repaired windshield.
The cost of replacing a windshield can vary even more than getting it repaired, because the vehicle’s make and model, not the severity of the crack/chip, determine costs. Newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
