I patronized Global Kitchen restaurant with my book club sisters on Sunday June 4th, 2017. We will all eager to experience the unique decor and delicious food we read about in various reviews. We called ahead because we had a large party (9) and whoever answered the phone insisted that they were able to accommodate/serve our group. When we arrived, we were told someone would be with us and then hostess stand was unmanned for almost 10 minutes. We were seated & given menus by the manager. Nevertheless, we still didn't have our orders after 1.5hrs & over four (4) separate requests. Why didn't we leave? Honestly, we were discussing our book and lost track of time until someone noticed that we hadn't received water/ beverages or appetizers. To add insult to injury, the manager was particularly obstinate when the poor service was brought to her attention. Moreover, she had the audacity to insist that the group pay gratuity for poor service & mediocre food. The best features of this restaurant are the fried catfish, garlic bread, and unique interior decor; each room has a different theme/style. Unfortunately, we had to take ourselves on a wandering tour of rooms because neither of the wait staff nor the manager even mentioned the rooms let alone offered to showcase those spaces. Needless to say, I was grossly disappointed, underwhelmed, and totally disinterested in returning. At least five (5) other parties walked in and walked out because no one seated them or served them in the event that they seated themselves.
I had the pleasure of eating at Global Kitchen for breakfast. When I walked in, I was impressed with the theme of the restaurant. The world clocks hung on the walls, keeping time from Chicago to Paris. The African art and hand carved wooden wildlife, brightened up the place. The floors were clean and we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The owner, a very sweet African American woman, introduced herself and made us feel right at home. She showed us her rooms around the world and I must say this is a great place to catch up with friends, have an intimate dinner with your significant other, or family. I enjoyed the Paris room with the telephone booth and Art. After the tour, my friend and I sat and ordered our breakfast. I was in great company so the wait for our food didn't seem that long. However, if you have small children, I recommend bringing coloring books or IPad to keep them busy. When the food arrived, it was piping hot and smelled great. The taste was so succulent, my pancakes were fluffy and moist. My bacon was crisp, not chewy and not scraps. And the waiter was very attentive. Over all the food was superb and the service was great. This is a place that will be well worth the wait! L.A. Holtshttp://dancemeapoem.wix.com/speaklife
On August 02, 2015, I went to jiangs kitchen (Beverly) and ordered pepper chicken as a take-out. When I arrived home, I discovered that I was given chicken and broccoli. Knowing that the restaurant closes at 9:00pm, it was too late to return to the restaurant. The business is closed on Monday, so I called on Tuesday August 04, 2015. When I spoke with the owner, and informed him of this mistake, he screamed and stated... “ You said, chicken and broccoli, and I asked you what gravy you wanted ... white or brown, and you said.... brown. ” and before I could say anything, he slammed the phone down. I wasn’t calling to exchange or to ask for a refund, just to inform him that, he had given me the wrong order. I was very surprised at his attitude and regardless of who made the mistake, no one in their right mind, should ever speak to a customer like that, and I will never eat from this restaurant again.
My wife recently called Toms Cabinets to get a home estimate for kitchen cabinets. My wife talked to a woman who stated I don t mean to pry, but are you married? Because tom prefers to do business with the man of the house We had a pretty good laugh after that, but went ahead and scheduled the home consultation anyway. Tom showed up, was pleasant, and took some measurements. He stated he would call us back next week with the estimate. This was on a Thursday, I expected his call on Monday or maybe even Tuesday. No response from him on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I called him Thursday afternoon to see why he hadn t called and he told me he was on a job and he d call me back that night. No call on Thursday night or all day Friday. Tom may or may not do good work. He may or may not be inexpensive. I ll never know, because Tom wasn t considerate enough to tell me anything. Tom is on Toms time. If you don t have time to take the job, or if it s too small of a project, or if you don t like the person that s paying you for the job - no problem. At least have the common courtesy to call/email/text that you have to decline the job. Don t waste my time waiting for your call. After so many years in the business, you think he d know that. Maybe he was mad my wife didn t curtsy at the door and hand him a Tom Collins when he walked into the house.
