They catered my wedding event at South Shore Cultural Center -- from the first meeting, they were very attentive and were happy to work with me on finding the best menu to feed 180 people within our budget. They made great suggestions and made us feel very comfortable -- they really know how to ask the right questions for planning purposes. Whenever I needed to contact them, they responded promptly and with enthusiasm. The day of the wedding, everything went so smoothly -- the guests loved the food; they followed the wedding schedule promptly; everything looked fantastic and professional and was delicious! They were the best!

It is very easy to walk past this place, as it is rather hidden. I know we did for several years. But so happy we finally found it. Such amazing food! We love the liver dumpling soup and if you're lucky, you can catch the seasonal goulash soup. My favorite is the potato pancakes, while my husband enjoyed the schnitzel.

This is one of the best $12.00 investments I have ever made. I was visiting from Houston last weekend and me and my cousin decided to check this place out. We ended up here Friday(rainout), Saturday, and Sunday. 34oz. cold mugs---What else do you need? The Sunday experience was better because it was after the game. The menu is limited, but then again, I wasn't there to eat. I went there only to quench my thirst.

I've been going to that place for years now. Good to chill, eat some tasty food, have a liter of beer. In the summer they have several little tables outside.

Edelweiss is such a great place, a true hidden gem. Sure, its out in Norridge, but thats not more than a 25 min drive from downtown where I live. It has awesome authentic food... delicious! Also not pricey at all, very reasonable.\r \r Another great thing about Edelweiss is that they have live music, so fun! I recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for something a little different, and for fabulous German food!

Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

You need to read my whole review. We went to this restaurant to celebrate an event for my son. He loves German food. We got there and got a table right away. We sat at the table without even water for over half an hour before the waitress came. There was only one waitress and one busboy for the whole place. We thought they were just short of staff so we didn't complain. We placed our order and a few minutes later got our one piece of bread each and soup. It tasted Just OK. We waited another 50 minutes for our food to finally come. My $18 salmon was cold and tasted terrible. The vegetables it came with were the frozen mixed veggies you get in a generic bag. I didn't complain. I just decided we wouldn't come back. My kids thought their $18 meals were boring. My husband ordered the "all you can eat pig roast". He got one plate and asked for more. Fifteen minutes later they came out and said they did not have anymore. I waited for the bill and they charged us the full amount for the food. I went up to the front and asked to speak to the manager. The waitress said I could talk to her. I told her very politely how I was disappointed with my meal, the service and the shortage of food. She got very rude and went back to speak very loudly with someone in the back about how we wanted to eat for free and how I should have returned my food. They took off my husbands meal and basically yelled at me that I should have returned my food if I didn't like it. What a horrible experience!

I love everything about this place. I do severely miss the Frankfort location but I am willing to drive further just for the food. If you want atmosphere and some of the best food you have ever eaten this is the place to go. The price might seem high but you are served enough food for 2 (love those leftovers!). It is a MUST to go during Oktoberfest. Everyone we have ever taken here loves it.

jgc222 is right, but parking can be a problem. Go on Wed or Sun. and you will find free additional parking next to their lot that has a doctor's office. It would seem there is more take out now, probably because the parking lot is sometimes full and a lot of customers are older now, like me. You can find close street parking on both sides Harlem. The food comes out fast, but they don't rush you. I think they don't want to slow you down because they need the parking. I've been going there for 30 years. For a surprise treat, get an order of blintzes. That is Jewish, I'm told. Other Czech places don't even know what a blintz is. It is a crepe filled with sweet cheese, a few raisins and sour cream on top.
