CertaPro Painters of Chesterfield
First of all, 167 Lamp and Lantern Vlg., Ste 284, Chesterfield, MO 63017 is a UPS store, not a business office. It's a mailbox, not a suite. The first thing that bothered me about Chad, the owner, was how he talks about other people's work. He really bad-mouths other painters, which I do not appreciate. If you're coming in to a job to paint, do it and quit crying about what the guy before you did or didn't do. Also, everything about the guy just seems questionable. Can't definitively pin anything on him, but I certainly have my concerns. He claims to have gone to college, but his grammar, spelling, etc. is atrocious - which just gives me one more thing to be concerned about. He is supposed to have owned several businesses - Airgroup Express, Events Direct, LaChance Vineyards, and CertaPro Painters. What's up with all of that? If you know, please post it here.

ProTect Painters
I live in the Chesterfield area. John responded my phone calls and emails quickly. He visited the job site often and managed his crew well. John’s crews are very experienced and they win my trust during the process. The painting job has been done smoothly. The contractors are self-motivated to do a good job. They paid attention on details. The rotten areas, loosing wood pieces, and missing caulking were fixed before the painting. I see the best effort they made to get the job done well.

ProTect Painters
I have worked with a number of painting contractors in my day and John is, by far, one of the most meticulous and trustworthy professionals i have had the pleasure of working with. Trust me when I say that he will treat your project / home with the same care and respect as he would treat his own.

Brown Painting & Design
Brown Painting & Design does an EXCELLENT job. Very neat and clean. Don, the owner, is a very personal, trustworthy and reliable man.
Tips & Advices
For a long-lasting paint job, a clean wall is crucial. Ask how they plan to clean your walls, if at all, before getting started. A high-quality company will thoroughly prepare a wall so that the paint will lay smoothly and last a long time.
Yes. A well-established company will have more experience and likely more references for you to reach out to than a new company that's just getting off the ground. Be sure to ask for references so you can speak to former customers about their experience working with the painter. When speaking to these people, ask about:
  • Whether they had issues with the crew
  • If the painters were messy or neat
  • How the paint has held up since the project was completed
The quality of the paint will affect how good the walls look when the project is completed. If your contractor says they plan on using a paint you don't like, feel free to request an alternative.
If the contractor makes a point to train new hires on safety techniques as well as quality standards on the job, you're probably in good hands.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of cases where a painter has stolen items from a home or caused damage to the house or injury to the homeowner. Subcontractors may not be as skilled as employees, and the contractor you're hiring may not have much experience working with them, making them more of a risk. Additionally, ask if the painters are employees or subcontractors, and what the screening or hiring process is like.
