The food never fails to wow! The decor is fabulous! I really have a hard time finding faults! You can come in and order an ""old favorite"" like the warm goat cheese salad or the buttermilk fried chicken OR pick from their ever changing menu items! There is something there for everyone...even my young children enjoy it!

Can never go wrong with Longhorn. Course I did get a really tough ribeye once. Knife wouldn't cut through it! Flo's filet is always a great choice, just wish they were bigger!

Go early on a weekend or plan on waiting in line! The omelettes and pancakes are well worth it. Big servings, so come hungry or be ready to share. I recommend the blueberry pancakes. Delicious!

I debated on the 5th star, but you know what? The Manager asked me if there I was anything he should change and I told him "Please don't change a thing, you can only mess it up". Concerning the commentary about how it looks from the outside: Don't judge a book by it's cover. Yeah, it has some "Mafia hideout place to bring your mistress maybe it's really a strip club" look to it - but if you haven't figured it out by now, that IS part of the charm and the appeal. One reviewer here thinks none of the clientele are locals. Perhaps he is clairvoyant, but I don't think it is possible to make such a claim. Pricey? Not really. Making comparisons to Outback? You should probably stick with Outback. To start - our waitress (also the bartender) Hillary made me one of the better Old Fashioneds with Dark Rum I've had. She left out the orange but it was still pretty great. Now she knows she has Myers on hand, too. We had "the cheese" but with Panini bread instead of crackers. Sounds silly, I know. I thought the cheese was to die for, and the danger here is eating too much of it. Next time I will eat the cheese with a spoon when no one is looking. The bread is crazy good, too. There is a reason they bring this out to your table when you are seated - it's tastes really good. We also had Salad with Blue Cheese, Shrimp Scampi (prepared perfectly), Trout (perfect), Ribeye (it was hard to resist licking my plate in public when it was gone), Creamed Spinach (awesome) and Mushrooms. (I love mushrooms, but these are prepared in a wine sauce, wheras I am more of a garlic butter fan). We had a hard time choosing a bottle of wine, but we described what we were looking for and another waiter made a recommendation - it was spot on. I think it may be crowded on Mon and Thurs for half-priced wine nights, so remember you probably need a reservation any night of the week. When we were leaving a van full of seniors showed up with no reservations. The Manager was trying to accommodate, and I hope they were able to work it out but...trust me, make a reservation. We had to skip the dessert this time, but it was tempting. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, and sincerely hope it doesn't change a bit. We are new fans and cannot wait to go back. To anyone who didn't like it, you should probably stick with chain restaurants.

I love this place!!! I lived in Charlotte from 1994-1997.My now husband and I use to eat there every week when we were @ UNC-Charlotte. Nice little out of the place hole in the wall if you will. soon as we'd walk in great music PUMPING anything from Bob Marley to the "Gap Band". I'm talking an entire CD not XM. Let's start with the awesome Sweet Tea served in a Ball jar.... makes you proud to be Southern Onto the the Gee Whiz Beer (used to be a $1) Coldest Bottled BEER EVER....PBR and Busch never tasted so good. BUMP the LIGHT BEER. The food where do I start. ??!?! Throw Down Nachos with "HOT" Chili ,beans, jalapenos, cheese, sour cream etc.,....AWESOME.. The vegetable soup is the best I have ever had, even the garden salad with Italian ROCKS.. Always a special of the day...not sure what it is now back then...Meatloaf...WONDERFUL, Chicken and Dumplings, Alfredo! Ahhhhh the SUPER Sized corn bread chunk! Tastey...Mac& Cheese something to write home about. And last but, not least the BURGERS....on an Onion Roll DIVINE....lettuce,mustard,cheese,tomato,chili,slaw....HAVE IT YOUR way!!! Lots of goodies for the non-meat eaters. Who could forget the WAIT staff? Very different looking bunch..in a GOOD way....no white shirt and khaki pants on this group. NEVER EVER had bad SERVICE...always GREAT never an empty glass. Restaurant itself has a great vibe and feel ..LOVED the Black and white pics of past and present wait staff. We used to go back to Charlotte once or twice a year but, unfortunately it is now less and less but, when we do we always make a stop @ our all time FAVORITE Restaurant...Lupie's!!!!

I have been to this resturant twice and each time was great. The food was awesome and the atmosphere is just what we were looking for. This is a very small place and it gets crowded quickly but the service was excellent and we Will be going back.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to any one but especially if you are trying to have a great dinner in a romantic place this is it. I am making a reservation today for dinner New Years Eve.\r

Great food, breakfast is amazing and served all day, I love their she-crab soup, it's to die for. Anything you want to substitute or a request to make your meal better they are more than happy to accomidate. On weekends go to the bar and see Ben. He has been working there for the longest time and is super friendly. He knows exactly what he is doing. Having trouble figuring out what you want?\r Ask Ben. He has gone to school and studied for that exact thing. Need suggestions for a good drink? talk to him and he can mix anything up for you. Want to know anything about wine? Ask Ben, no one knows more than he does.

Went Saturday night. Valet parked in the parking lot? Little strange but I guess they are trying to avoid the lot being used by the neighbors.\r \r The atmosphere was a bit stark for my taste, with all the white walls - still looked like a methodist church in the day light - suggest adding some fabric to warm up the atmosphere and bit.\r \r The service was good - the waiter was polite and knew the menu - not too pushy and let us take our time. The food was fabulous - can't say enough. We started with the bbq duck spring rolls and the calamari - the calamari was a unique recipe and presentation and was absolutely wonderful.\r \r The filet was cooked to perfection and came with potatoes with a port wine reduction and horseradish - it melted in your mouth.\r \r Wine was fabulous. Wonderful place to take customers, groups, or for a special romantic dinner (after dark).

So, you had a bad experience. One review gets the message across. And poison? Maybe you just thought you went to the Open Kitchen. We have been going to OK since the early 80's, and never had a less than great experience. Our kids have grown up watching the monkey on the bike cross the ceiling. They have always loved the food, and so have we. My favorite is the Veal Barcelona! Oh, my gosh, I crave that dish! And there is plenty to split, too. I just feel like you must be talking about another restaurant!

As a prelude to my own review of the restaurant, and in response to the previous review: Given that more than a quarter million people in NC have concealed carry permits (slightly over 15,000 in Mecklenburg county alone), many of whom are from sleeply little areas like Mint Hill, Weddington, etc, perhaps the employee's decision to carry has more to do with a personal decison to be able to protect himself and his family regardless of location and less to do with where the restaurant lies. Regardless, I have to say that I just recently discovered their moussaka and spanakopita, which is the very best I've ever had - anywhere. If you're going for breakfast, the Challah bread french toast is fantastic. Big portions, good prices, and a friendly staff - there's a reason this restaurant has been around for years. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

I think they won that award in the last year or two. Fantastic fries! Friendly staff, good prices, and their veggie ruben is great! I am not a vegetarian, and order it nearly every time I go. Love the place!

So a group of friends and I were going to the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show this past friday at the NCMF...unfortunately the show had been rained out. But to our surprise it had actually been moved indoors to The Saloon on their home stage. The show was fantastic!! It was extremely busy but somehow our waitress Haley managed to always stay in touch! She managed to always spend some time with us, our food came out extremely fast and hot for how busy it was, and it was DELICIOUS!! They had a Crab Cake sandwich on special that was to die for!! Simple, fast, and great!! We were also paid a visit by the Chef who checked with us on our food as he was passing by; we thought this went above and beyond considering the amount of people inside!! We will DEFINITELY be coming back!!!!!

The food at Harper's is just a notch above average. About what we expected in this part of town. We felt we got great value for our money. What keeps us coming back though, is the amazing service. The attention to the customer's needs is top notch and unrivaled in Charlotte. They also have a treasure in their ""casual entertainment""; a bar magician in the style of old time Chicago Fine Restaurants. This alone is worth the trip to Harper's.

Had the scallops benedict (a special for the day) - incredible! Prime rib sandwich was great. Do not miss the spaghetti squash with marinara as a side - nice change of pace. Lobster bisque is thick, rich and satisfying. I have visited 3 times and sat at the bar by choice. Bar staff is friendly and go out of their way to make your meal enjoyable. Don't miss Bricktops. Better than Manzetti's by a long shot!

Gus's has been a staple in Charlotte N.C. for many many years. I am in my 30's, and remember eating their with my grandparents when I was 5 and younger. If you are looking for a place with good down home food, soul food, italian food, greek food, or just a good old american cheeseburger and fries, you will never find a better place than Gus's. However if you want an experience in food that you will never forget, definitely try the beef tips over rice with the onions and peppers. And get a double order of the fried squash. Remember their vegetables are grown fresh in their own garden and picked fresh daily. So treat yourself to comfort food at comfortable prices, see you at Gus's!
