Providence Veterinary Associates DVM
I can't say enough good things about Providence Veterinary. The doctors and staff really care about the well being of your pet, and it shows. My dog Rusty had cancer in his jaw and had major surgery. Dr Meeks and Dr. Elliot went above and beyond in his care, calling and checking up on him and making sure he was doing well. Mulitple post surgery check ups, all included in the price of the surgery. Unfortunately, the cancer came back along with other complications and we sadly had to put our sweet boy down (he was 12 years old). During that process, everyone was so caring and attentive to us. We were able to say good bye privately in a back room that they have in their practive. A week later we received a card from the practice which was such a nice touch. The cost of Rusty's care in the final months was costly, but the practice allowed us to do a payment plan and were so accomodating to ensure that it wasn't a huge financial burden. If you're looking for a great place with exceptional care I highly recommend the doctor's at Providence Veterinary

Central Providence Veterinary
The very best vet and staff anywhere around. We would not consider sending any of our customers anywhere else. ( we own a boarding kennel and do rescue work)When your pet goes to this vet they make every effort to do all they can to give you the very best care around. My dogs never even get nervous about the visits! They treat you and your pet with care, respect and take time to explain things like no one else we have ever gone to see. Dr.Booker never rushes his visits with the pets in his care and even returns phone calls! Not many vets feel the need to offer that special touch to their clients anymore. Thanks to Dr.Booker and his staff I still have several of our dogs that would never had made it if we had went to other vets. Dr. Booker will research any kind of odd health issue and find just the right treatment to get your pet back to the best of health!

VCA Stoney Creek Animal Hospital
My dog attends the day care two days a week, she loves it. The front desk staff is exceptional and they know everyone by name. The vets are great and are great with my dog who is in there several times a year for gastroenteritis issues. The vets personally call you at home to check on the status of your dog, they don't leave it to an assistant to make the calls and I like that kind of service. While slightly higher in cost for services, I just don't think you can put a price on exceptional service.I have recommended this clinic to many people in the Charlotte area.

Davis Lake Animal Hospital
I have been coming to Davis Lakes Animal Hospital for 14 years. Dr Sam Hanes is the best in Charlotte, NC. I highly recommend this animal hospital for your pets needs. They do not over diagnose or over prescribe. I appreciate that so much. Prices are fair and reasonable. Their hours are amazing and convenient, more so than most places. Office is super clean, Today I had to put my cat Shadow to sleep. It was a hard decision. Mr/Mrs Hanes were very sensitive to my needs and made her comfortable. They both displayed care. Very professional and caring at same time.

St Francis Hospital For Animals
Great Pet People!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Being new to the area, I was looking for a Vet for my babies so I asked my neighbors who they would recommend. Many of us have pets and one Vet name kept coming up and that was Dr. Cooper with St.Francis Hospital for Animals. I gave them a call, took Max to see him and was very impressed from start to finish. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the staff knowledgeable, and the care wonderful. Thanks to all of you for being such great animal people :)

Harris Boulevard Veterinary
Everybody was so nice and showed me that they truly care. It was the day before Thanksgiving at 4pm and they never rushed me. Dr. Loveless took the time to check my doggy and he even took extra time to check the ingredients in my dog's food to make sure that he was getting the right amount of protein. The service they offered me was excellent, I can tell that Dr. Loveless really care about his patients. I am happy I have found a good place to take my furry babies.

Archdale Animal Hospital
I have taken Rosco to Dr. George for several years. We have always been pleased with his care when boarding and pleased when Rosco had surgery. I feel Dr. George saved us money by combining surgery with teeth cleaning. Dr. George has time to talk to the families to explain options. My family is very pleased with care Rosco has received.

VCA Stoney Creek Animal Hospital
I take my cats to get groomed here and Kathy does an amazing job! The front desk staff and the guys in the back are always very friendly and helpful. This place is awesome. Prices wise I think its average, its a lot less than Petsmart & Petco. I wouldn't take my girls any where else!

Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte
I have been going to Sardis for over 20 years. They have a great staff and truly care for their patients. I would not go anywhere else! They also have a good location for me because I live by the super walmart on Monroe Rd.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
