An awesome experience. I am on vacation from northwest Indiana and my muffler was a complete disaster. Hugh was my first contact and he promised to take care of me, he was sincerely concerned about my situation. Once I arrived he had Leo, who was like a muffler wizard work on my car. Leo was super, he took the time to show me the shape my muffler was in and explained to me what he could do to fix my problem. Besides being friendly, professional, skilled, and honest, the price was very reasonable. I encourage everyone to take your business to MR MUFFLER.Thanks Hugh and Leo!Nick P.Highland, IN

Ultimate Autowerks
Charles at Autowerks is the nicest and most capable mechanic we've ever seen. His approach is to "pay it forward" and more business will come is spot on. He as helped us find a couple of difficult and elusive problems with our older BMW and his charges have been very reasonable or non-existent. Great mechanic and businessman and nice person. Thanks Charles and Good Luck with your shop.

Louie & Sons Body Shop
Great shop!!!!! I recently brought my truck to Louie & Sons for some repairs. My insurance company tried to get me to go someplace else because this shop was not on their preferred list. I had several people tell me this was the place to go. The staff were very helpful in explaining the process and worked with my insurance company. My truck looks like new. I will never go anywhere else.

Ultimate Autowerks
This is the third shop I've been to - dealer excluded. I find them to be friendly, capable, and thoroughly appreciative of and knowledgeable enough to deal with my M5. Never a "we are going to rip you off just a little bit" vibe from these auto mechanics. As long as they don't get too busy - and they just hired a new guy to prevent that - they've got my business.

Mike McKnight's Automotive
I am so glad I found this place! Having dealt with many so many shiesty mechanics in the past, I was completely overblown with their honesty and reliance. Since they are a small local business, they easily relate to their customers and work with us to the best solution possible. Thank you thank you thank you. Never going anywhere else! 100% recommend.

If you ever do business with these folks just one time you will never go anywhere else. They are honest and prompt and do what they say they will do. If you are a lady they don't talk down to you like most repair shops. They are willing to answer questions so don't be afraid to ask. It is nice to be treated with respect. Give them a try.........cb

Bert's Motor Works
I highly recommend Bert's Motor Works for car repairs with hospitality, expertise, professionalism, promptness, and especially respect, honesty and integrity. Instead of replacing an expensive part on my car, Bert replaced a burnt wire saving me a huge expense. Thank you so much for your honesty Bert!

Marty, here was extremely helpful and had my electrical repairs on my Mitsubishi Montero Sport done BEFORE I expected. Just took a four hour road trip in it and it and the truck runs like a top! Very professional and highly recommended
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
