Pizza ok, takes forever. Always more then an hour. Don't ask for anything out of the ordinary. And don't expect exemplary customer service they are not capable of it. They have the careless demeanor of your typical gas station attendant. I'm not even sure the employees know how to smile. Perhaps management provides a poor work environment.

One of the last real delis around, this place has the best sandwiches but you'll have wait for them. You can call ahead, which I highly recommend! They have great, fresh salads as well. If you do choose to order in the shop, you'll have Italian pantry staples to browse through as you wait for your number to come up. A must make stop if you're around!

Located in Castro Valleys ""Castro Village"" two blocks from the CV BART Station.\r \r This is a ""gem"" local diner for CV natives. Kept well hidden in the center of old Castro Valley. They have breakfast lunch dinner menu that is a good price for the hearty plates they serve up.\r \r Hugo is the chef and sometimes can be seen in the dining room visiting with the locals and asking about their meals and day,\r \r The menu is basic comfort foods and Hugo is famous for his burgers that I have tried and can say they are the best, the ground round is of high quality.\r \r The breakfasts are very hearty, four egg omelets. The vegetarian is amazing with fresh veggies from the season. The Capers French toast is also a favorite dish, thick dipped with a cinnamon touch.\r \r The hard to find Monte Cristo sandwich is a gem from the lunch menu, dipped and fried just right and served fruit and maple syrup. The best deep fried sandwich I have had. This is a menu item I have a hard time finding in other diners.\r \r The dinner menu sticks with the freshest of ingredients that Capers is famous for. I had the mushroom steak and it was huge and covered in an amazing sauce, served with home made mash or baked potato.\r \r The downside to Capers is the location, deep in old Castro Village were the parking can be difficult on the weekends. But its worth the walk if you have to park out side the Village.\r \r The price is right 6.00 - 14.00 - they are open 8am - 830pm and you may find the chef and owner Hugo their to take your order and comments.\r \r Vince Vmedia

I have been coming here since they opened some 5 years ago and i have not as of yet been dissapointed! The food gets better and better. The service is friendly and good, though a hidden and tucked away. I love that they have booths which makes it extra comfy and you can hit the bar to listen to the band and enjoy a nice cocktail or brew. This is a sister restaurant Paradiso in San Leandro. I find the food at willow park better and the ambiance inside/outside, just my oppinion!

Katsu owner/chef is one of those professional trained sushi chefs from Japan that takes 8 years apprenticeship before they are allowed to work as a professional chef. You can be sure that everything he does is at the best standards of freshness and cleanliness. This is important for seafood, especially raw sashimi. The menu is good, so is the price.

A rare gem in Castro Valley Let me start by saying, I have lived in Castro Valley for over 13 years, and I must admit, we are NOT known for our fine dining here. While there are a number of decent restaurants, and a couple of very unique ones (JD's, Val's), there is nothing that really stands out. That is, until Genghix came along. We first "discovered" Genghix Asian Fusion in October '07. We were really hungry one day, and had decided to go for the "all you can eat buffet", which Genghix' predecessor, Genghis Khan Kitchen, was known for. Let me say, at that point, I had lived in CV for 11 years, and had been there exactly TWICE, even though the place is spitting distance from my house. So, we were going for the quantity, not the quality. As soon as we stepped inside, you could tell things were different. The decor was completely redone, and actually looked quite nice. Almost immediately, the hostess informed us they no longer offered the buffet, at which point we were going to leave. But, she was very pleasant, and the place did look so much better than it had, so we decided to give it a try. The "lunch specials" on the menu also sounded good, and were very reasonably priced, and we were hungry! Let me say, I'm really glad we made that decision. The food was vastly improved, and yes I would include it in the fine dining category. Prices are a little higher than what you will find at other chinese places in CV, but what you get for your money makes it a great value. The menu selection is very unique, dishes from a variety of asian cultures, and they do a fine job on their sushi, chinese, and other asian dishes. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do, if you decide to give it a try. They also have a great selection of desserts! Btw, after having been there 2 times in 11 years, we have been there over 75 times in the past 2 years... if that gives you some idea of the improvement!!
Seems like we hit a network glitch.
