I had dropped off a blouse to be altered and, instead of fixing it, the owner destroyed it. Not only did he refuse to fairly compensate me for the replacement value of the blouse or reimburse me for the alteration fee, but he also insulted me personally, telling me my clothes were rags and that I needed to buy new ones, and refusing to accept blame for destroying my blouse.I had dropped this blouse off six weeks earlier and was promised it would be ready at the end of the week. I called repeatedly over the next few weeks and went in person several times – every time I was told the blouse would be ready the next day. It never was. I finally had to sit and wait while he sewed it the day before I left town for 3 weeks, only to have him poke holes in the back of the blouse as he mishandled the sewing machine. I waited six weeks for him to ruin my blouse rather than fix it.Parise Cleaners has been my regular cleaners since I moved to the neighborhood three years ago, and I'd had overall positive experiences there. I like to support local businesses and this is as local, family-owned as you get. Unfortunately, the owner's true colors came out when he made this mistake and refused to own up to it. I'd been nothing but patient during these six weeks of waiting, and my patience was repaid with personal attacks, shouting, and an unwillingness to fairly compensate me for my property which he had destroyed. I won't be back and cannot recommend a business that treats its customers like this to anyone.
