Beacon Center
This company should be sued and lambasted for infringing on civil rights of innocent and decent people.I wish I saw reviews earlier. They are right.I've been an A student my whole life, I have a college degree in finance, I've held excellent records of employment, I became a business owner and now I'm a great mother.I have an exhusband who tries to get child support out of me after we agreed to 50/50 custody, so he accused me of being an alcoholic which I'm not.I went for an evaluation at beacon center. They lied continually, telling me I'm being "evaluated" when only weeks later tell me I'm being "treated". They charge insurance for you to come to group sessions, which is addicts talking, not employed staff counseling you. How is that "treatment" for a problem I never had to begin with? They find ways for innocent people to stay there just like the other reviews say.

Agape Parents Fellowship
Before we came to Agape my autistic son, who had destructive and violent tendencies, spent 6 years on various waiting lists for residential placement. After we came to Agape, he was placed in less than one year. We have an excellent service coordinator at Agape who truly understood our situation and did not stop looking until she found placement for our son. Now he is doing very well. Agape also found our family an excellent special education lawyer when we needed one. I would recommend Agape to any parent with a special needs child.

Williamsville Psychiatry
Been going there for 10 years. Very outstanding staff, efficient, and kind. The doctors are excellent and listen to your needs. I recommend this office highly.

Hallett, Michael P, MD
If you would like to be treated like a human being this is not your doctor. He has no concern for your well being. All that matters to him is that he gets paid.

Cornerstone Manor
This is coming from an actual homeless woman that stayed there for a few days... Not even a week because of the inhumane way in which I was treated would rather live on the street than to be traumatised all over again by someone whom calls themselves Christian's.Stay away from this place. Dangerous to women and children.

Poorly managed, untrained staff, does not seem very educational. Seems like babysitting more than an educational learning center.

Franciscan Center
A wonderful place for any young man between the ages of 16-20 who may be looking to get their life back on track. Cannot say enough about the Franciscan Center!

Sos Security
Stay clear of the guys!SOS security represents ADT as a reseller...typical high pressure sales coupled with a 2nd rate alarm installation made for a terrible experience! The installation person Paul did a horrible job with my installation...he had to come back 4 times and I still had problems with false alarms and problems with arming the system. My house was completely open inside being a new build so the installation couldn't have been easier. On one of the floors he installed the wires on ceiling joists so now everything has to be re wired so I can put my ceiling up! The corporate office of ADT has had to come out to check this resellers work 2 times because of all the false alarms I have been having. I found out that because of the size of my house that I need a larger control box with more zones. SOS has hooked too many sensor from different floors to each individual zone thus making it very difficult to tell where the problem is coming from.

Agape Parents Fellowship
I would not recommend Agape to parents with kids with special needs. They have a high turnover rate of their good people and keep their bad people. Their staff are not knowledgeable, unprofessional and disorganized. They do not treat families with respect. There are lots of other places to find advocates in WNY.

Lake Shore Behavioral Health Inc.
This establishment is one of the greediest businesses I have experienced. One of their major funding sources is the Department of Mental Health, which means that at your expense, money is thier number 1 priority. My therapist was fired for monetary reasons. I had been going for therapy for only 2 months berfore they let him go. His job loss had absolutely nothing to do with his skill level! When I advocated his departure, all I recieved was blank stares with no admitance to their trashy policies. If you want to keep your theapist, I recommend seeing a private practice where money is not placed above quality of care. Dr. Roderick Charles is a great example of a hard working, patient centered focus.
Tips & Advices
  • Talk about specific consequences of their drinking.
  • Choose a time soon after the person experiences a drinking-related problem (missing a shift at work, for example).
  • Do not threaten, guilt, lecture, preach, or use negative labels.
  • Do not try to discuss alcoholism when the person is intoxicated.
Therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who specialize in the condition can all diagnose and treat alcoholism. People with alcohol-related concerns can also consult their general practitioner, who will refer them to a specialist.
Detoxification is a medically supervised period of alcohol withdrawal to allow the body to purge itself. A doctor or treatment specialist closely monitors a patient to ensure the symptoms of withdrawal do not cause harm. Side effects of alcohol detoxification include:
  • Sweating
  • Vomiting
  • Elevated heart rate
  • High blood pressure
  • Tremors
  • Nausea
  • Sleep issues
  • Paranoia or anxiety
  • Hallucinations
  • Seizures
The cost of addiction treatment varies depending on the type of facility, amenities offered, treatment provided, and size and length of the program. Detoxification ranges from $1,000 to $15,000. Inpatient facilities cost anywhere from $6,000 to $30,000 for a 30-day program and include detoxing. Outpatient programs can cost $500 per session.
Outpatient alcoholism treatment is a part-time form of rehabilitation. Patients continue their normal lives during the day and return to the treatment facility several times per week. Outpatient treatment is generally cheaper than inpatient and can be helpful for people with less severe addictions. Inpatient treatment programs require patients to stay at the facility 24/7 until the completion of the program. They provide a highly controlled environment for patients to overcome their addictions without the distractions or temptations of everyday life. These clinics provide round-the-clock medical care and often include hours of group and personal therapy. Inpatient programs are beneficial for people with severe addictions or those who have overdosed.
