YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

They couldn't care more about the cats. If you want a great place to place your cat at, this is the place. I have adopted all my cats from there and they care very much about how they are taken care of.

I've lived across the US and have been to many different shelters & I wish many would have taken animal matchmaking as seriously as Sun Valley does. Upon coming in my first time, over a year ago, I couldn't help but notice how clean it was, how the animals had an air of contentment/happiness, how the people working truly cared about the animals that they were interacting with, & how much interaction the animals were getting with staff and volunteers. ALL dogs are exercised and walked daily, and the cats have a BEAUTIFUL enclosed "Catio" for their enjoyment and to keep them completely safe from outside harm (which I think is wonderful as cats DO NOT BELONG OUTSIDE). This is an incredible place, and honestly all it takes is a step inside to find that out for yourself. I would and do recommend this shelter to friends, family members, and associates. If you're not a crappy pet owner, you should have NO problem adopting from here. The adoption amounts they have monthly show they are doing something right in finding the animals their the best home possible.

AHS brings in about $13 MILLION DOLLARS a year! The AHS Director makes over $118,000 each year! American Humane Society volunteers say that AHS has a very casual attitude about killing animals and looks for every possible, flimsy EXCUSE to euthanize them! AHS has assets of $31 MILLION DOLLARS. They blow a huge amount of money on everything, EXCEPT caring for their animals. The Arizona Humane Society's kennels are half empty, because they have already killed most of the potential pets (cats and dogs). They routinely kill litters of kittens and puppies. Sixty percent (60%) of all animals turned in to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (the Phoenix, Arizona "Pound") leave there, ALIVE! Only forty-five percent (45%) of all animals turned in to the Arizona Humane Society leave there, ALIVE! The Arizona "Humane" Society states, "We care for over 46,000 animals annually." What AHS fails to mention is that they KILL the majority of those animals! They just killed the beloved kitten of a very poor man. His mother offered to put AHS' required $400 payment on her credit card, over the phone (because she lives in the Mid-West). She also offered to wire the money to her son, so that he could give cash to AHS. AHS completely refused to wait even a few hours for the money. Instead, they pressured the man to sign his kitten over to them. The AHS promised the man that they would tend to his kitten's injuries and either give the kitten back to the man or else put it in a foster home. Instead, they KILLED the kitten, a few hours later! This man's kitten was his whole life. She helped him stay clean and sober. She was his "baby." This was not an isolated incident. What the Arizona "Humane" Society did to this little cat (Scruffy) and its owner was just business, as usual; i.e., standard operating procedure. My family, friends, co-workers and I have had numerous dealings with AHS, over a period of many years. I can tell you that AHS does this kind of thing on a regular basis! They routinely kill cats and dogs, very quickly, within hours after the pets have been surrendered to them. They treat pets and people like dirt but the truth is coming out, at last. To add insult to injury, AHS uses a large number of COMPLETELY UNPAID volunteers, which leaves AHS even more money for so-called administrative costs and for the giant salaries of their over-paid Director and other Executive Staff! Lastly, while some other Arizona animal-rescue organizations have a four-star rating, AHS only squeaked by with a three-star rating. Why is AHS' rating so low?

I CANNOT believe the previous reviews. Obviously it is because both of them didn't actually get to be IN the building and BE a consumer.\r \r This facility is unbelievably fantastic (and I went to the old facility a few times). Open areas, nice sized pens, one-on-one excercize, A/C (I remember the old swamp coolers), heat, calming music in the kennels. \r \r If there is one thing that I would highly recommend is their web site. Amazing! A wealth of information. I picked six dogs to view and did. The staff was beyond helpful! I chose an eight year-old dog who had been there two months. She was dropped off by the former owners because she was ""too much trouble"" and they couldn't handle it. This is the EASIEST dog I have ever had. Of course, the former owners turned her in when she was pregnant. In eight years she had never seen a veterinarian. So ask to see the form and don't believe it all! \r \r The Humane Society staff and volunteers were nice at every turn, every person that I met. Helpful, answered questions, were upbeat, attentive and even gave me a free bag of Science Diet, all for less that $50.00. Don't forget the spaying, shots, new owner packet, free vet visit, registration and of course, the wonderful dog that is now my shadow!\r \r UPDATE - I called the Humane Society and left a message that I lost her paperwork in my move and was going to board her in three days... can they look up by my name and her license number the information and fax it or mail it? A staff member immediately called me back and had my dogs information RIGHT in FRONT of her as we spoke. She said she could fax it now or mail it tomorrow morning and the veterinarian there would sign off on it. THEN she asked me how my dog was? Now that is customer service and concerned, responsible folks. I'd give them six stars if I could.\r \r I have no idea what these people's problems are that left the previous ratings but I bet there's a bigger story than what's read here.\r \r

if you can't take the time to fill out a little form, how much time are you going to devote to your pet? c'mon, this isn't a pair of shoes you're looking for...and there are a lot of weirdos out there (not implying that you are one) that try to get dogs off craigslist by claiming they're the owners, try to adopt dogs, so they can sell them and pocket some cash... so I applaud HALO for it's methods, and trying to keep the riff-raff from being able to adopt. maybe you should go to build-a-bear for you next pet?
