Shleppers Moving & Storage
We couldn't be happier with the services we received from Shleppers Moving and they are professionals. They know how to treat their customers. I was very happy with the movers they sent for my move. They were hard workers, polite and nice to be around. They moved my stuff with the utter most care. They hauled heavy furniture and boxes up two floors, being very careful with all our items, and also the walls, the bannister's and the floors. They remained pleasant all the time. Everything came through the move perfectly and Shleppers Moving team were amazing! Thanks for making my move easy!

Shleppers Moving & Storage
I just used this fantastic moving company couple of weeks ago for an office move. The way they kept their cool and managed to deal with so many problems and still presented me a timely, damage free and stress free move was simply amazing. They are not the cheapest but they really justified every single penny that they charged

Better Rate Movers
To start this has probably the worst customer service I have ever received! I am currently deployed as a military member. My wife scheduled our move with this company. From the first moment after we paid there has been unprofessionalism. The weight of the items we moved didn't add up to the amount of things we shipped. I questioned this and was told a weight ticket would be available upon delivery! Once the truck got to the destination there was no tickets. The drivers said the items were never weighed. I spoke to a supervisor numerous times, and was disrespected beyond beleif. I am no fool and knew they were trying to just charge us a price to make money. My wife called again and the supervisor told her "I am done talking to you and your husband, have a nice life". This company is currently holding our things hostage and will not release them! We have paid them close to $1700! This company according to the BBB has been banned due to fraudulently saying they were member of the BBB when they actually weren't! Look to find another company! Still trying to figure out how we are going to get our property.

The Padded Wagon
I've utilized the services of The Padded Wagon for my clients who are moving locally or cross country. The experience has been stellar every time. They work hard so you don't have to deal with the major stresses of relocating. The owner, Ed Dowling and his family run business are vested in providing an exceptional customer experience. I highly recommend this professional moving company for all your relocation needs. Jacqueline AckerinaDr. Organized, LLC

Bronx Express Movers
This was the single most horrible business I've ever dealt with. We called to get a quote and was quoted $300 for the first 3 hours and $100 each additional hour. We explained where we was moving from and to and the amount of items we had. The company told us all we needed was 2 movers. Everything sounded professional and great until the day of the move. We expressed a time of 10am because of alternate side street parking. The movers (who were contracted by BEM, Admiral Van Lines of Brooklyn and Bayonne, NJ) showed up at 9am and complained about the alternate side parking rules. As soon as the first mover (the ring leader) walked into the apartment it was an issue. He stated that our move was not a 2 person move and also that it was $300 for 2 hours and $100 each additional hour ALONG with a host of charges that was not explained to us by BEM. After going back and forth on the phone with Nadia and in person with the mover, we were told that we'd pay what we was quoted by Nadia, the mover started moving items (at 9:25am). Immediately they started being EXTREMELY rough with our property, throwing stuff around and THEN refused to pick up certain items (two book totes that myself picked up ALONE). Then all of a sudden they had no room in their truck (which was BIG) for all of our items, so I walked out to the truck and seen that there was roughly 1/3 of the truck filled with items that was NOT ours! Well there goes your space. OH and I forgot to mention, a 3rd mover magically appeared which we did not agree to. FURTHERMORE, the lead mover tried to hustle me out of my Dewalt Drill because his ceased working citing that we were getting a discount and that I should give it to him FOR that discount. UNREAL!!!! Now we get to the new apartment, he throws a fit because of the floor we were on, WHICH WAS NOTED BY US TO NADIA, so there should not have been ANY surprise. Their rough moving ways continued in the unloading. After unloading, the ring leader then DEMANDED a tip! I was appalled by all of this, then some manager (whos name we did not ever get) called us and basically told us to pay whatever....ABSOLUTELY NOT, after several attempts we got a hold of Nadia again. Now the move completed at 12:42pm, that's 3 hours and 17 minutes of moving, we was charges $435 which again did not match our quote because the mover wrote he finished at 1PM for which he did not. I was STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS AGENCY. I don't know how they got good reviews up to this point! (Photos below of the truck, including a photo of the items that was IN the truck already before loading OUR stuff that caused items to be left behind in the old apartment that we had to END UP getting ourselves) STAY FAR AWAY! DON'T DO IT!

Friendly staff, came on time and were very quick! I have used this company several times in the past and am always so happy with their service. He and his team are the best!
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
