5 Star Janitorial & Maintenance Services
my review is based solely on receiving 2 quotes from them at different times. they did not perform any work however. me and my wife recently bought a house in the bronx area and wanted to do some floor refinishing and painting. i initially contacted some contractors for quotes and trevor and 5 star janitorial was one of them. they were very professional and always punctual to the specified time which is KEY for me. timeliness says a lot about people. the first time i met with Hussein which i believe is an employee and the second time i met with Trevor (owner). they were quoting me for floor sanding and refinishing. a large job as it was 3 floors. the first time my wife went with a contractor of her choosing but boy oh boy did that turn out to be a mistake. the second time i contacted trevor because i had remembered how professional he was. i asked him to come requote me on an imcomplete job the previous company left behind after taking our money (first time homeowners lesson) the price was reasonable and they were eager to help us as best they could knowing the experience we had just had. unfortunately i did receive a referral from a family member that works in construction for a flooring company and having just had a bad experience we went with the family referral instead. so no i did not use trevor on any occassion but it was not because i didnt feel he was right for the job. it was just a combination of some crazy things. however, on both interactions i felt his company and employees were highly professional, PUNCTUAL!, and eager to help. they seem to really know their stuff and its a shame that i was not able to get to see their work. i will not hesitate to call them should i need something in the future though.

RF FLOORING
I am quite surprised of the previous review since Albert and his team were very professional, prompt and helped me save money by recommending that I stain my floor a darker color instead of removing and re-installing a new floor because of some damaged caused by pet stains. Albert and his team were on time, professional at all times and did wonders with my floors. They did an exceptionally great job for a great price. Attached you can see pictures of the final results on my floors. I will recommend DLS Flooring to others with out hesitation.

Tips & Advices
In most states, contractors are required to have a license before taking a job. Some states also require registration. To be licensed, contractors must pass an exam and meet certain qualifications that prove he or she is a competent flooring contractor. Registration is simply a list of who will be performing a job.
The time it takes to install flooring depends on the type of flooring and the size of the room or rooms involved in the project. In one day, a typical contractor can usually install up to 2,000 square feet of carpet, 600 square feet of hardwood or laminate, or 400 square feet of tile or stone.
  • Do you have a professional license, insurance, and a business liability policy?
  • Who will work on the project?
  • Do you subcontract, and do you screen workers and have insurance policies to cover them?
  • Do you have references or examples of your work I can see?
  • Do you charge for an in-home estimate?
  • What type of flooring is best for my home in terms of architectural consistency, environmental influences (such as whether a certain type of flooring will be affected by humidity in my area), and durability?
Legally, insurance is not necessary, but it's a good idea for flooring contractors to have it. When hiring a flooring contractor, ask whether the business is insured. If it's not, consider that a red flag.
A flooring contractor should know the pros and cons of each flooring option. These might include pricing, time of installation, durability, and average lifespan of the material.
