I went to this place for my wedding. I tried different places and I couldn't convince myself to go to those places. One week before my wedding I decided to go to James Joseph Salon. I usually go there for my haircut. Although I didn't have trial session, Mary did a great job. I showed her a sample picture that I liked. She is quite a professional. She did exactly what I had in mind except much more better. She did a wonderful job. I had a lot of stress on my wedding day, I was worried about my hair style. But as soon as she held a mirror to show my hair, my mouth felt open, I hugged her. I heard a lot of compliment in my wedding, and although I'm a picky person, every time I look at my photos, I feel so happy that I had my hair done with Mary. I just want to thank her.

Umi Salon's owner Jeffrey Dauksevich gave me the best hair cut I've ever had a few weeks ago. My look is absolutely great. He has an incredible eye, is perfection with the scissors and is supremely handsome(!).

I am so completely happy with my experience at Salon Marc Harris! I was a little late and the front desk was very understanding and quite friendly. I took advantage of the Cut-A-Thon for Childrens Hospital. What drew me there was that haircuts were $40 (cut a thon price) and I've wanted to go there for a while, so I figured this would be a great opportunity. I was pretty sure I'd get a great haircut but I was SO incredibly happy to get one of the best cuts I've ever had. Anthony listened to what I wanted and incorporated that into what he knew would be the best cut for me. I'm just blown away with this cut! He took his time with me and really helped me with styling tips. I'm totally sure I can replicate the style at home. I'm very impressed with Anthony and will be a client from here on out and gladly pay $55 for a perfect cut.

I stopped by Toscana last week for a wax and pedicure. The place is clean, tranquil and European-looking. I had an extremely through pedicure done by Christine. She also did a great job cleaning up my eyebrows. Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating.

This hidden gem is the best salon in Boston! They carry and work with Aveda products, though not exclusively, so you have your pick. Niki is not a hairdresser nor a stylist - she is an artist. It sounds kind of unbelievable, but it is the honest truth. I am a young professional woman, I care about my appearance and have always looked for the best for my hair. I thought my hair was too fine, too limp to look full or shiny without tons of product... until I met Niki. It was all in the cut and they even taught me a few tricks with Aveda products that I was unaware of (after using Aveda products exclusively for the past ten years I am usually the one to be teaching the tricks). I love my hair and have received so many compliments. I also recently sent a male co-worker to Niki for a haircut and he looks so much better! He has received a ton of compliments on his new hair. I also went to Niki Salon recently for a manicure. Also the best manicure ever. I got a French one and it lasted for over a week! It looked amazing and everything was so clean and sterile. I usually only get a paint job because the whole cleanliness thing kinds of worries me, but when I saw their setup I knew it was going to be great and it was! Thank you, Niki!!

I searched high and low for a Salon in Boston that is professional, affordable and that has a staff I can trust with my hair. I am mixed race and wanted a salon that could deal with all types of hair. There is no limit to the hair types with which Salon Red stylists can work. I go to Kanessa. She is amazing and I trust her with my relaxer and my trims. She doesn't cut off your hair like other stylists I've seen. She knows exactly what needs to be done to your hair but also listens to exactly what you want. The prices here are pretty reasonable considering the quality of service received. I've been going here since the summer and I will continue to go here (or follow Kanessa) for as long as I live in Boston.

This salon is fabulous. It is a small salon in an obscure corner of Chinatown, but offers wonderful haircuts by owner, Ernie. When I lived in Boston I tried many Newbury Street salons and never got a haircut I was entirely happy with. Now that I live in San Francisco, same story. I wait to get my hair cut by Ernie the three or four times I'm back in Boston every year. Ernie cuts my hair so it looks great blown dry or air dried. He gives my hair ""shape"" and makes sure it falls the right way, even if I pull it up in a pony tail. Ernie is the owner and does most of the haircuts, so you are always guaranteed the highest quality service. Also, a woman's haircut is $35, which is unbeatable.

I have been going to Salon 2 for many years. The customer service is excellent. When I lived in Boston, I had an appointment every 2 to 3 weeks. Now that I live in Andover, I make the trek into Boston 4 times a year to Salon 2 to see Cathy. She is amazing.

I've been going to Yasmin for my blonde hair for around 15 years! She's not only a brilliant, gifted colorist but is also warm and welcoming, always pleasant and calm (which is great for a neurotic, blonde, mane-obsessed Leo like me!). Over the past 15 years, I've tried many different shades of blonde: wheat, platinum, golden and ash. Yasmin has delivered every time. And we're not just talking about my roots! She puts in complimentary and contrasting highlights as well. She can do ANYTHING! If you want classic color, she can do it. If you want chic and high-style, she can do it. She listens carefully to what you want and thoroughly discusses her color recommendations for you based on your hair cut, hair condition, skin tone, personal style, profession and lifestyle. Before I knew Yasmin and lived in NYC, I tried all the hot salons in NYC, including Louis Licari, Garren and Frederic Fekkai. Yasmin blows them all away. I always tell Yasmin that she is far too modest about her achievements in hair color. A former model, she has studied with THE Vidal Sassoon himself in London, worked alongside her famous cousin Edward Tricomi of the Warren-Tricomi salons in NYC (Yasmin's maiden name is Tricomi), and styled celebrities like Cindy Crawford and Kim Basinger. She was one of the first practitioners of Japanese Hair Straightening and even went to Japan to learn the technique from the product manufacturer. Bazaar Magazine named her the best colorist in Boston a few years back. Besides her dazzling creative talent in hair color, Yasmin herself is simply a joy to be around. From the minute you walk into the salon she greets you like a long lost friend, asks you how you liked your last color and offers you a beverage and a magazine. She is warm, genuine, and down to earth, funny and engaging. And she knocks herself out to give you the best hair color you've ever had. Even when she was pregnant, she was always calm and professional, never letting what must have been a physically uncomfortable experience get in the way of her artistry, professionalism and calm, friendly demeanor. Yasmin, put simply, rocks!!!!

A friend told me about this place saying Eddy worked wonders on men with thinning hair. Great atmosphere, extremely personable people and reasonable prices. Eddy had me laughing for 45 minutes and I left with the best haircut I have ever had. I didn't know how bad my previous haircuts were until I got a great one. I will never go back to the local barber.

There is just no better colorist in all of Boston, and possibly on the whole East Coast. There has been a lot of great press about Jeffrey's work, and, let me assure you, it is justified. If you need to have a natural looking but luxuriant blond mane, this is the ONLY place to go in the city. Not only that, but his staff is gracious, thoughtful, and friendly--you'll feel at ease as soon as you walk in. You will never feel that they're trying to hurry you out, and you will leave feeling like the most glamorous woman on Newbury Street. Ladies, I have been to the best of the best all over the world--London, Paris, Moscow, New York. I know whereof I speak. I'm a natural brunette, and I've been coloring my hair blond since i was knee-high to a grasshopper. For my work I need to have a polished, professional look, but I also like a touch of Hollywood for evenings out on the town. I look for that perfect balance of flair and tastefulness. I was Jeffrey's client for years at Emerge, before he branched out on his own. Recently, in a fix, I was fool enough to visit another colorist in the area who shall go unnamed, and I emerged looking like a just-hatched chick, with orange down fuzz poking out of the crown of my head instead of the elegance I had taken for granted after being Jeffrey's client. It was a nightmare. I called Jeffrey, and begged for some corrective color so that I could show my face in public again. They got me in at short notice with Timothy who miraculously transformed me from a reject from the Elmo lookalike contest to Gisele-Bundchen hair. Oh and did I mention that the blow-outs here are to *die* for? (Justine does a great job!) These folks are also incredibly responsive to telephone calls, emails, mail from homing pigeons, anything. They *will* do their very best to squeeze you in. Always polite and helpful! This place is worth every penny. If you go anywhere else, you do so at your own peril.

Amazing! Absolutely incredibly results. Saliba is an excellent stylist. Unique, fun and professional. Very nice atmosphere. I stumbled upon Highlight Salon via Groupon while looking at salon reviews online. I have wanted to get a Keratin treatment done for a couple years now, but never have because of the cost and trust of the stylist. I started looking online and reading reviews (I heard horror stories from Groupon so I did my research). Saliba had great responses and the price on Groupon was such a steal, I decided to give it a shot. I am half mexican and my hair is insanely dry, rough, frizzy, long, and absolutely completely unmanageable. I did not think anyone or any treatment could tame it. I used to wear my hair in a side braid or bun for probably 10 years. My hair was transformed into smooth, frizz-free, SOFT, touchable hair. I am estatic and so grateful. He made me feel BEAUTIFUL! Will definitely be back.

William at W Salon is the best! He specializes in African American hair but is capable of styling all types of hair. He does a fantastic color, his relaxers are the best, and he'll work with you on a cut that fits your needs. I always look forward to my appointments and my daughters consider it a treat to see William! I recently transitioned my hair out of a relaxer to my naturally curly hair and he supported me the entire way making the transition easy peasy and keeping me looking great the entire time.\r \r If weaves are your thing he also has several clients who get that service and you would never know it - he makes the hair look like it grew out of their scalp! The new stylist that started there recently is also excellent and does a fantastic job as well.\r \r I would highly recommend you book in advance if you've never been. Most of his clients book a year's worth of appointments in advance. The place is small but the service is big! \r \r As for the earlier review - up until recently he has been a one man operation and does sometimes have to reschedule appointments. Your patience and understanding will be rewarded!
