Dowdy's Automotive Service
First off, I worked in the auto industry for 4 years so I am very picky. My parents have been using Dowdy's for over a decade, and they have gone back for a reason. I now take my car there, because their cars are 10+ years old and running strong. They only fix what is broken. Mind you, I am a guy on an embarrassingly tight budget driving a 15 year old car. Justin even offered to stay late to read the code for my check engine light. There's a nice waiting room with TV and a table, and the coffee they have out is actually pretty dang good. I am leaving this review on behalf of an entire family's decade of experience. I inherited a family car and their service invoice still had my mom's name on it. When the ac/heater went out, I asked Justin to change the name to mine on it. He advised me to wait, as this would void the warranty on the part. He could have changed it and charged me for the repair, but he went out of his way to be honest and save me money. It's clear that they guarantee their work here, and they value customer service and honesty more than they value emptying your pockets. It is hard to trust people when it comes to your car, and that's why I go to Dowdy's.

Auto Metric Foreign Car Service
Outstanding! I had been to a dozen mechanics professional and otherwise. None of them could diagnose my car fully and those that thought they had wanted to charge me an arm and a leg (come to find out for the wrong procedure). I went to them as a final resort because of all the conflicting diagnoses and found I should have gone to Auto Metric first. When I went to Auto Metric I was treated with the utmost respect. They were friendly, generous, and forthright. After a 5 minute drive there was an immediate and precises diagnosis. Then they spent time with me making sure I had a good understanding of what needed to be done and options. I was also instructed on the details of what I was to do to do some of the repairs myself.Above and beyond the call of duty. I am going to them for all my car needs.

Ken & Johns Quality Auto Service
My 80 yr old aunt went to them, word got out in the family about how good they were. Now, My brothers, my girlfriend, my nephews, my cousins all go to Ken and Johns for repairs. I've had Russ do everything from lowering my truck, to a disc brake conversion, to install a trailer hitch, to replace an a/c compressor, brake jobs, replace window regulators, tune ups, brakes, gas tank work. These guys are we can't without them.

Plantation TuneTech Automotive Center
I am driving a 15 year old Lexus. Like any older vehicle, it is not unusual to have something wear out occasionally. Recently, a part in my ignition broke. Tune Tech was quick to identify the issue and resolve it while saving me money. I can always count on them to do great work and at very reasonable prices. They make my life easier and eliminate my car worries. Thanks Tune Tech!

I do expect to pay a little more here, but you get what you pay for. This is high quality and I just don't trust anyone else out there. Kelly and Ed have always been honest. Note to future customers, just explain you want FULL disclosier/permissions before all work is done. I simply have them call me, and pick the most important stuff and usually handle the easy stuff myself.

Angel's Mobile Mechanics
WOW! He showed up on time and fixed my car. He even repaired my car door that wouldn't stay closed. This is the second time I used him and he has never let me down. Both times I requested expensive items hat I didn't need. He showed me my problem and fixed it. He could have taken advantage both times, but he never did. I will always trust him fix my car.

Irish Automotive Repair
Amazing experience! They do seem to run a couple weeks out but after having them repair a couple things on my car for me I understand why. Spot on diagnoses on cars, sadly even better than the dealership, fair prices, great staff. I'm so excited to not be throwing money out on incorrect diagnoses and that my car runs like new again!!!

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
