Johnson Michael R
I had been through a couple attorneys before I hired Michael. I have now been with him for several years, and many court hearings, regarding post-divorce issues. Michael is the first attorney who didn't waste my time—every minute counts when being billed by the hour! As soon as we'd sit down, we got right to business. I liked that! He's the only attorney who's ever taken consistent notes, and actually reviewed them. Even better, ALL communication was directly with Michael. All my previous attorneys would have me communicate with their paralegals. Very little got relayed to my attorney, of whom it mattered, and what did was choppy and inaccurate. What's the point?! That was never the case with Michael. My nickname for Michael is Rainman. (Although he doesn't know it.) During my intake meeting, he asked how old my kids were. I told him. He clarified by asking, "Do you mean X?" He was right! I was so embarrassed! One child had had a birthday and I was wrong! Michael caught that from actually reading my form! What a breath of fresh air! His attention to detail has continued to be impressive over the years. I have come to realize all attorneys will want to help you settle, in your best interest. Prepare for the worst (court), hope for the best (settle). The Boise Judges always seem annoyed. You have a 50/50 chance of winning/loosing. Not good odds. They blame you both for being there, regardless of what you have on the other party. However, you will want a good attorney to guide you through the process, protect your interests, and write up your legal documents in detail and without ambiguity. If you do go to court, you want someone who is well prepared. Either way, Michael is that guy!

Getting arrested for a DUI is a scary, embarrassing and confusing process. I will be the first person to admit, I made a bad decision. I was fortunate, no one was hurt, there was no accident. The process is not easy to understand and certainly not one I wanted to go in alone. There is a great deal of misinformation associated with a charge like this. I called Craig and he set up an appointment immediately. He was very personable and not accusatory. Since my arrest, meeting Craig was the first thing that felt right and I felt that maybe I would get out of this with minimal damage.Craig explained each step he was going to take. Since this was my first offence, he explained what the best and worst case scenarios would be. There was a minimal disruption of my work and personal life. Craig took care of everything. When the time came for my trial, it was reassuring having an experienced attorney who understood the system to represent my interests. Craig did the best job anyone could have done. He explained what was expected of me moving forward and when the time came, would follow up.The cost was very reasonable. When you research online and you read the stories of cost, you get nervous about the total financial impact. Now I can’t speak for everyone, but Craig was very reasonable and the service was terrific. My first advice, is never drink and drive. However, if you do make a mistake, I would highly recommend Craig Atkinson. He did a great job for me and it will be best decision you can make in a confusing and difficult process.

Morton Law Offices, Chartered
I retained Morton Law Offices, Chartered to represent me in connection with a personal injury claim. From the very start, I was impressed with Alan Morton’s thoroughness in getting the job done for me. He has a keen eye and attention to detail. He certainly dots the “I”s and crosses the “T”s in everything he did for me. I felt that he had my best interests at heart all the while he represented me. He was accessible to me all throughout my claim to answer my questions and concerns. He even provided me with his cell phone number so that I could reach with him after hours or on the weekend. If necessary. If I am ever in need of an attorney in the future, Mr. Morton is my first and only choice.Because of the rigors of my job, that made it difficult for me to take time off of work to travel to an attorney’s office. Mr. Morton on more than one occasion was willing to meet with me at my work when we needed to get together to go over material on my case and/or for me to sign important documents. I enthusiastically endorse and recommend Alan Morton to anyone who may need an attorney to help them.

I had never been in trouble with the law before so when I needed legal representation, I didn't know where to turn. I googled defense attorneys and out of the long list of choices, I picked Craig. It was one of the luckiest choices I ever made. I was able to make a personal appointment with him immediately and he thoroughly explained my options and what to expect as my case proceeded. The outcome of my case was beyond fair and reasonable thanks to Craig’s excellent representation. In addition to the time I spent with him about my case, I have learned a lot about Idaho law and criminal proceedings by reading his excellent blog posts. He thoroughly explains aspects of the law and the legal process in plain English. I would recommend Craig to anyone in need of a hardworking, smart defense attorney.

I contacted Atkinson Law on a whim, I was not intending to use a lawyer. But after a brief phone call (That Craig himself answered) I was sold. I was totally blown away at the availability of Craig and his staff. They are very patient and willing to explain everything going on with your case. I even asked him about a family legal issue that he was able to provide some insight on. Thank you Craig and Dinko! I appreciate your hard work and awesome business practices.

Craig took on my DUI case. Met with me right away explained all of my options and formulated a game plan on how to win. My case was complicated and Craig took the time to do more case study research to help win my case then I could have ever imagined from a fixed rate attorney. Outstanding commitment!! Really helped me feel comfortable and got me and my family through this bad situation with class, professionalism, and compassion. Highly recommend

Daniel Skinner is worth every penny. Dan is AMAZING! He works his behind off for his clients and is an excellent lawyer. He gave me peace of mind and I am extremely pleased with the results he provided. If you want a lawyer that is dedicated and caring, then I highly recommend Dan Skinner. In my daughter's case, he returned all phone calls promptly and he offered excellent legal advice!

Craig was very professional, yet he was personable as well, which really helps when you are in a bad spot. He makes himself available when you need legal advice, and is prompt in returning emails and phone calls. Craig was quite good at explaining the laws, and what to expect. Overall, I would definitely recommend Craig for criminal defense.

I highly recommend Craig Atkinson's legal services. After an internet search, I interviewed him the next day and found him to be knowledgeable and personable. He gave me a clear view of my circumstances and likely outcomes in court. I found his fees to be very reasonable and I feel very fortunate to have had his competent representation.
Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as yellowpages.com. You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
